Historical Romance with some suspense

Overall, this was an entertaining and fun novel that kept me engaged throughout the book. While the novel is somewhat predictable, I felt connected to the story and wanted Jane and Christopher to work through their issues.

Carolyn | 1629 comments Recommended for fans of action packed thrillers, featuring a unique man of action - Dez Limerick, a likeable, cheeky, short stocky Brit with a sense of humour, who's never found a door or gateway he couldn't open.

While the story is action packed, I never truly connected with the main character. It was entertaining and interesting, but I'm an outlier with just 3 stars. If interested in the book, I recommend reading some of the 4 and 5 star reviews.

PamG (lynguy1) | 2533 comments Here is my 4.12 rounded to 4 stars review of Dead of Winter Dead of Winter by Darcy Coates by Darcy Coates:

https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

The author does a good job of balancing the shocking events against the mystery of determining who to trust and who is the killer. Exceptional characters, intense fight scenes, bitter cold, snow, ice, horrible deaths, and an absorbing plot are combined with a protagonist who is far from perfect and a killer with one or more unknown motives. The story has plenty of layers and is quite dark and horrifying at times.

PattyMacDotComma | 1260 comments I seem to be late 'discovering' popular UK crime writer Mark Billingham. His new Detective Miller series, The Last Dance, has plenty of scope to move into the next book, which I look forward to. Declan Miller seems very human rather than hard-boiled. Funny. Sad.

Donne | 63 comments I just recently read my first S.A. Cosby book and much of the story was really a drama of a husband and father who was struggling to provide for his family (wife, kids, mother) and found himself in some really desperate situations. The thrilling part of the story was how he got himself out of those desperate situations alive.

This was another one of those stories that kept me up wwwaaayyy too late on a work night because I could not go to sleep until I knew how it ended. GREAT STORY!!! Cosby is a really good writer and storyteller!
