Theresa | 15509 comments Tgere was a special on PBS last night all about the British Royal Train. I am not making that up. Of course I watched it!

Not an evening gown, tux, or tiara in sight. At least not since WWII. And frankly today's decor is downright pedestrian. Now, during Victoria's era....oh my.

Our Royal Coach is very luxe but not over the top exotic. Here the butler has keys to a special wardobe in the Royal Coach that supplies whatever item of apparel you feel you need while there.
@KateNZ - it has various tiaras for those who forgot theirs [note to self: bring one of my tiaras along).

Rachel N. | 2237 comments I finally made it to the baggage car. I sped right past creepy CGI Tom to the magical trunk. Since I'll likely be here for awhile I pulled out a Lego Hogwarts express set to work on. I recently finished the gigantic Hogwarts castle set in real life so it seems fitting. I also watched the Bullet Train movie over the weekend, I'm glad we're not on that train.

Robin P | 5735 comments I'm not near the Royal Coach, but I'm not going anywhere where I have to dress up! Maybe exotic lounge pajamas would do.

(I never liked dressing up in my outside life either, avoiding prom and wearing an informal dress for my wedding.)

Amy | 12913 comments I love the magical hermoine closet!

message 105: by Theresa (last edited Feb 07, 2023 07:01AM) (new)

Theresa | 15509 comments I suspect that no one will be lingering in the Royal Coach long since the journey end is in reach, no matter how comfortably luxurious it is.

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11062 comments Note- for my special roll I had to choose an extra book from someone else’s list. I chose The Ghost and Mrs. Muir from Theresa’s list. It was different than I remembered it (were there kids in the movie?) but i liked it. Thanks Theresa!

Thank you for reporting back on that! So you read the extra book and the book you landed on after moving 11, yes? I will presume yes and roll away.

message 120: by Diana (new)

Diana Hryniuk | 837 comments I've started reading Love Story and noticed that the hardcover is less than 150 pages. I guess I should choose any other book on my board. Can it be any of them or should I choose the one before or after Love Story? Does it count as a swap?

Yes I read both, and posted my reviews and updated my board.

Great, thanks for confirming. I didn't see the review so I wasn't sure of the status.

Diana, yes you will need to use one of your swaps, but you can swap for any book you want (it doesn't need to be on your board already).

Sorry, the second one was hard to post. I had to keep verifying that I was a human being, and I couldn’t see all the cabs and stop lights.lol.

message 126: by Robin P (new)

Robin P | 5735 comments I will be finishing my current book today. The next one turned out to be invisible. A year or so ago, I donated a bunch of books that had been sitting on my shelves and I wasn't always good at removing them from GR. I also didn't go around my house to check all the titles when I set up my list, I'll have to do that next round! But I have another book to substitute that has more pages, fits the monthly tag and a challenge for another group! I will note all this on my tracking.

Glad you liked it! I think it's an overlooked gem.

I think there were kids in the TV series - have the movie saved on my DVR to watch again. It's been years. Decades.

message 129: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15509 comments I think... haven't check the Master Gameboard ... but I think this roll takes KateNZ off the board and into the Locomotive, driving the train to give the relief engineer a break before she rejoins the Caboose as a Clerk!

🥳🎈🎈💥🍾

message 130: by KateNZ (new)

KateNZ | 4099 comments It does take me off the board - I just need to post my outstanding reviews and it will be an official finish. My PC threw a hissy fit trying to post the first one, and I finished the second book while I was waiting for it to reset.

Caboose crew, here I come. Tell Tom to shift over and make room for me and my stitching frame.

message 131: by Theresa (new)

Theresa | 15509 comments Space has been steadily clearing out - I think one of the chaises is even free at the moment.

I'm still there -- and I can't wait to see your stitching up close! I started a new project over the weekend while visiting a friend. I plan on bringing it along.

message 132: by KateNZ (new)

KateNZ | 4099 comments Excellent. Caboose stitching party it is. (Or ‘stitch and b*tch’ as my husband calls it …) I hope the lighting is ok, but I do have my portable lamp with me if we need extra.

It is often called the same here.

I have had lighting upgraded in all the cars, and had portable stitching and reading lamps stocked in each car! Fortunately this train is well wired with outlets, power strips and charging ports!

And the randomizer said:

List Randomizer
There were 45 items in your list. Here they are in random order:

Olivermagnus

So as per the rules:

You get to decide which book they must move to next on their game board - - backward or forward -- within a 15 book radius. So you can move your opponent up to 15 spaces back or up to 15 spaces forward to the book of your choosing.
