MAPPING YOUR UNIVERSE
March 1, 2023 - March 31, 2023

According to American Heritage Dictionary, one definition of universe is: A sphere of interest, activity, or understanding. For this challenge, you will focus on one area of your choice.

This can be anything, from an idea such as relaxation, to a more solid interest such as photography, or animals. You will then read books that focus on your universe of interest.

EXAMPLES:

Universe: Relaxation
Books: The Hypnotist's Love Story, Light on Yoga, The Things you See When You Slow Down, any book with a calming/relaxing cover

Universe: Animals
Books: Water for Elephants, Curious Case of the Dog in the Nighttime, The Night Tiger, books with animals on the cover

Universe: Philosophy
Books: Siddhartha, Man's Search for Meaning, The Alchemist

Universe: Space
Books: Long Way to a Small Angry Planet, Dark Matter, Project Hail Mary

Let the challenge leader know how many books you'd like to read.

Thanks to Carmen for creating this challenge and leading.

Carmen | 8125 comments description

Hola, lovely people! 🤗💕
The Universe is thought to consist of three types of substance: normal matter, ‘dark matter’ and ‘dark energy’.
Normal matter consists of the atoms that make up stars, planets, human beings and every other visible object in the Universe. As humbling as it sounds, normal matter almost certainly accounts for the smallest proportion of the Universe, somewhere between 1% and 10%.
Apart from normal and dark matter, which may also be interesting for some people, each one of us has inclinations towards certain topics, activities or interests that, in the long run, make up our particular universes. Whether it's reading (obviously, otherwise we wouldn't be in this group), cooking, meditating, playing sports, contemplating nature, dancing, cultures, photography, History, Philosophy, gardening, mystery novels, witches, multiverses…,whatever, any option is as good as the next, you only have to decide on which one(s) you want to explore a bit further.
Go ahead and share with us “what your universe is made of” and enjoy reading your favorite topics joining in this challenge.
🎨🎾🕹️🧶🎬⚽🧵🍲🌳♟️🧜🏼🦄🃏🌷💟🦹‍♀️🐴🏕️🎺🐕🎭🎼🔪🛠️🥻🧬🩰👩‍🚀📷🌌
“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”
― Albert Einstein

@Theresa, I'm very sorry for your loss 😔
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there-on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
