I'm beginning to wonder if there are only 17 tables this year?? That's a big drop from 25 or 26 though. And Wednesday doesn't show 16 or 17 being used at all.
I have a feeling we're going to get all the info this week and then be in a crazy planning frenzy for the next 2 weeks! There's never enough time!!

Yeah - they usually repeat the Harlequin Teen Hour with a slight variation. You'll note that JLA isn't slated for Friday, but Kady Cross is.

She is not this year

Take Me Away To A Great Read (awaytogreatread) | 11 comments Rainbow Rowell, Marissa Meyer, Leigh Bardugo, Amy Ewing, Sussan Dennard, Rae Carson, none of them are ticketed, Jennifer Armentrout is ticketed though!

Do you know what authors ARE ticketed?

Take Me Away To A Great Read (awaytogreatread) | 11 comments My friend got the email, I can get the list. They weren't any of the big YA authors except Jennifer Armentrout, and it wasn't for her table signing time for Scorched.

message 162: by Sharon (last edited May 04, 2015 05:16PM) (new)

Sharon Layburn (smlnbooks) | 22 comments The tickets authors are:
Wed:
Willems, JLA, Quinones, Roker, & Peters.
Thurs:
Maguire, Selznick, Stephenson, Sollenne, Eisenberg, Westheimer, Datlow, & Mary Higgins Clark.
Fri:
Yoon, Brett, JLA, Trigiani, Schachner, Connor, Lane, Stiefvater, Baldacci, & Cabot.

Take Me Away To A Great Read (awaytogreatread) | 11 comments Thank you Sharon!

Laura (bookcaselaura) | 202 comments Morgan wrote: "So what will they do for the other popular YA authors that are at tables that are not ticketed?"

They'll have the lines starting super early - at least an hour, but I wouldn't be surprised if some hard-core people start the line an hour and a half or two before the signing. They keep the overflow lines on the side of the autographing area with signs that say which signing people are in line for.
Although I'm wondering now that there are fewer tables, maybe they'll space them out more or allow for longer lines that snake around? Sometimes it gets hectic in the middle section...

Sharon Layburn (smlnbooks) | 22 comments Whew! Thanks for the insight, Liza! I was resigning myself to the realization that they had drastically cut down on autographing this year- glad to hear that's not the case. That'll make my scheduling more complicated, of course, but in a fun way!

Liza, are you doing a booth or table signing?

message 177: by AmberBug (new)

AmberBug com* | 94 comments All I want is Stephenson... I've never done a ticketed author before. For those of you that have, was it worth it? Stephenson is actually doing an event in NYC that same week, and I'm thinking that might be worth it OR it could be more of a mess.

Also, just so I understand correctly, for a ticketed author and you don't have the VIP pass:

1. Get to Javits before 7am and pick up a ticket
2. Wait in line forever?

Is that about right?

LOL - pretty much. For the ticketed authors you get the special privledge of waiting in TWO crazy lines - one to get the ticket and one to get the book! :)

Also, note that the official ticketed author list that is posted above is ONLY for the tables. Individual booth signings may also be ticketed, but those tickets will need to be picked up at the booths at a specific time.

Case in point - last year Kiera Cass was in the Harper booth signing a finished HB of The One. Her signing was at, like 1 p.m., but you had to pick up a ticket at the Harper booth at 10 a.m. No ticket - no book. So, I had to work the 10 a.m. ticket pick-up into my schedule for the day, as well as the 1 p.m. signing.

message 179: by AmberBug (new)

AmberBug com* | 94 comments Hmm, I'm thinking the outside Javits venue for him is looking better and better. The past two years, we've stayed far away from ticketed tables. We waited in line for a few bigger authors at the booths, which wasn't too bad.

Another thing we haven't done in the past is hit up the booths in the morning to grab the schedules. Is this how you usually get that information? We've just went by our schedules made up before the event (SO much already on them!)

In my experience, you'll already have 90% of the information on the booth schedules. But, the thing I find most useful are the days and times for the galley drops. You'll arrive with knowledge of what galleys are being dropped, but you won't know exactly when unless a publisher posts that information on their website beforehand (some do, some don't).

I know last year Sarah Maas has a line that started at 9 and her signing wasn't until 11. It was pretty crazy. I highly suggest lining up super early for popular authors, especially if they are not ticketed.

It's in my show planner's drop down menu - under "search for types" - then choose "in-booth autographing."

So, I'm sticking around for BookCon on Saturday and half of Sunday. Most of their autographing schedule just has the author name(s), time and location for their signings. Does anyone have some inside info on what books they will be signing? And which ones we have to pay for?

Or are these just opportunities for you to bring your own book(s) to have them signed?

Krista (kristasdustjacket) | 254 comments Mod
FYI - it's not on the BEA site yet, but Jennifer Armentrout has on her website that she's signing ARCs of Scorched on Friday from 11:30 - 12:30 at Table 9.

OMG, I want this book...
