Laura (bookcaselaura) | 202 comments The autographing area schedule (or at least part of it?) is up on the bea site! So exciting!

AHHHH!!!

message 53: by Laura (new)

Laura (bookcaselaura) | 202 comments It looks like it isn't fully loaded - definitely some tables missing in a lot of the time slots - I don't see anything above table 15. But, it is so exciting to see some of it up! We can officially start planning!

Hmmmm .... I don't see it. :(

message 55: by Laura (new)

Laura (bookcaselaura) | 202 comments You have to go into My Show Planner and then "Conference" - it has everything listed there and you have to sift through to see the autographing sessions.

That's it - I'm getting no work done today...

I've been checking every single day for weeks now. Thanks for the heads up!

Oh goodness. Same here!

Andi (Andi's ABCs) (andiabcs) | 13 comments Well I'm getting no work done now. :-)

message 61: by Jenni (new)

Jenni (jenniatonu) | 38 comments Ok, am I the only one actually putting this information in a spreadsheet?

Someone did this last year and shared it. It was my life at BEA, so I know I'd need it again this year.

Sometimes I hate being so organized, but I know I'd feel lost without it!

message 62: by Krista (new)

Krista (kristasdustjacket) | 254 comments Mod
I'm putting it all in my own spreadsheet. I won't start to color-code things though until I get the full table schedule and the in-booth schedule.

message 63: by Laura (new)

Laura (bookcaselaura) | 202 comments I wrote to my contact at BEA to see if she can send me the full spreadsheet like she did last year, but it usually isn't until the full schedule is released. If I get it, I will certainly share again!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your spreadsheet. I break out my colored highlighters and am in organization heaven when you send those out! Thank you!

message 66: by Meg (new)

Meg (mrsasc) | 9 comments So much awesomeness, and this is just the autograph area schedule! Can't wait to see everyone in passing as we all try to make it to as many things as possible! Let the spreadsheets/planning begin!

I'm okay so far...though its going to be a close call and some hard choices...I'm rather worried for my Weds at 3pm...I have three authors listed all of equal value to me...

Does anyone know when PW's BEA issue comes out? It should be soon, right?

message 69: by Lexie (new)

Lexie (poisonedrationality) | 657 comments Mod
If it follows historical precedent, next week on Tuesday or Wednesday. However since BEA decided to be different then the last 5 years and post something useful early, I'm kind of WHATEVER JUST GIVE IT ALL TO ME NOW THEN :flaily hands:

I'm okay so far too, but I really think this is only half the autographing schedule - there are usually 24-26 booths in the autographing area. Plus, we still have to get the in-booth schedule, too!

Laura (bookcaselaura) | 202 comments Krista wrote: "Does anyone know when PW's BEA issue comes out? It should be soon, right?"

It's the May 4th issue. I'm not sure when that will be "out" though.

oh don't worry - I know it'll explode. I'm determined to be less obsessive this year though. My heart can't take the amount of running we'll have to do since the Autograph Area moved.

My schedule is looking pretty darn good.

message 76: by Laura (new)

Laura (bookcaselaura) | 202 comments If those of you who want the spreadsheet, want to email me now, I can start a list and that way pass it along as soon as I get it. It probably won't be until the beginning of May sometime. My email is BookcaseLaura(at)gmail(dot)com

Mine isn't too bad either Hannah. I little iffy on Friday with closer times, but once I prioritize I'll be good.

And I haven't looked yet for fear of getting overwhelmed. I'm working BEA on Thursday so I have a feeling that the universe will put the bulk of what I want on Thursday. :(

Thanks Laura just sent you an email. Your a life saver for a non organized gal like myself.

message 91: by Carrie (new)

Carrie *looks at all the authors* I'm starting to feel a bit overwhelmed now. Excited but overwhelmed.

Just to confirm, for autographing sessions, if I have the autographing pass, I do not have to pay there for the autographs/books? First time BEA goer here, and I just want to make sure.

message 92: by Carrie (new)

Carrie Another question for you guys, realistically, how many signings can you get through in say an hour?

message 93: by Lexie (new)

Lexie (poisonedrationality) | 657 comments Mod
for the first Q - yes you won't need to donate the $1 per book. And realistically I've gone thru 3. if you time it well. Tho its possible to go thru more if the lines are short or the authors are fast.

message 94: by Grace (new)

Grace Fonseca (gracefonseca) | 11 comments Care wrote: "Another question for you guys, realistically, how many signings can you get through in say an hour?"

Realisitically, I have done three in one hour, but that was because the lines were short. So if the lines are really long, maybe one or two...

message 95: by Laura (new)

Laura (bookcaselaura) | 202 comments Care wrote: "Another question for you guys, realistically, how many signings can you get through in say an hour?"

I agree that three is do-able. Especially if you are early and in the front of the line for the first one. I've also seen authors with huge lines that have started an hour before have no one in their line by the end of their time slot and you can just walk right up to get the book (sometimes this even happens with ticketed authors that let you get the book even if you don't have a ticket). I wouldn't count on that, but it is good to check at the end, too. Especially if you don't have somewhere to be afterward.

message 96: by Carrie (new)

Carrie Thank you guys, this is really helpful for my planning.

Ohhh, thanks! Emailed. :D

message 98: by Jenni (new)

Jenni (jenniatonu) | 38 comments Signings depends on multiple factors.

I wouldn't plan on more than 3 an hour, and put them in order of importance/popularity.

One factor that helps, is how early you can line up.

Let's say that you know there are 3 authors you REALLY want to get at 2pm. Your best bet to get to them all, is if you only get 1 signing at 1pm. If you are there early, and can actually get in and out of the signing within the first 15 minutes of it starting, the best luck you will have for the remaining two.

It really is a numbers game. Where you are in line, how chatty the author is, how many people are in line, etc.

My husband and I saw very little of each other at BEA. He 'manned' the author lines while I went to the in-booth signings and drops. This year I figure it will be more of the same, since the two areas are sooo spread out from each other.

message 99: by Hannah (new)

Hannah McBride (ideally_hannah) | 620 comments Mod
If you have free time, I always swing through the autograph area because inevitably there will be signings that are ending and the lines only have 5 people in them and you can get in and out quick.

message 100: by Britt (new)

Britt (kalebsmome) | 32 comments I have a question for you guys. Ticketed authors....when do you get these tickets? Is this why you get to the javits so early in the morning? I'm a bit lost one that topic. I have my reader pass and my one time line skip as well. Can you guys tell me how to use that (prob for Liegh Bardugo).

Ps this group is helping me A ToN! I'm so nervicited it helps to have some idea of what to do. :-)
