at this point I want both of them to find someone else and tell her Mare to go fuck herself, the deeper the story the more intolerable she becomes

Same!! I used to love Mare but now I hate that f**king bitch. And I am so disappointed in Victoria bc it was not until the last book she decided to change Maven and Mare, so that we, us readers will except the ending more!? Like just that sentence were Victoria wrote that Maven would kill Mare if he could save himself!? Like no?! Wtf!? Were did that came from!? Like we know how he reacted to Thomas death, and to kill Mare would hurt him so much more than what Victoria decided to write out. And like that she decides that there is no one who can save him from the way he is!? Come on!? What does she teach people!? That u should Give up on people!? That u can’t save people!?
Uhhhh i’m so angry, and sad and disappointed!? And i just want Maven! Ouch my heart!!? I love him so much!!
Oh my little Mavey. There were a lot of things I didn't enjoy about the last book especially when it came to Maven. Still Maven will always be my favorite Calore brother, hands down.
I haven't read War Storm yet :( but that's okay. I'm gonna buy it soon XDTo be honest, I prefer Maven because Cal is too predictable. Maven is a cute twisted villain with very complicated character, and I think that's why I love him. He has his own charisma :)
And even though Mare is not ended up with Maven (Maybe. I haven't read War Storm yet), I still choose Mareven. MAREVEN FOR LIFE!!!
I think that she should end up with Cal because they have a better relationship and it's slightly more health than with Maven. Maven is just a spoiled brat trying to get away with murder. Maven is just a bit out of wack for my type
I like Cal but I believe that if the main character stayed with Maven she could have saved him from his mothers corruption. Love can do crazy things and I think that could have changed Mavens mind. I read the summery of the rest of the books in the series and I didn't feel like I would have enjoyed them as much as I loved book 1 so I decided not to continue the series.
I'm team Maven all the way, but to be fair I always have a tend to lean towards the "villain" over the "good guy". If we're talking about who Mare should have ended up with, I'd say neither of them. Her and Cal seemed kind of forced to me, a relationship with Maven just wouldn't sit right with me either. In terms of their character, I just felt for Maven much more than Cal. But again, I have a soft spot for antiheroes.
Maven all the way. He deserves it after all the trauma his own mother put him trough.
Team Cal all the way, both Mare and him still share chemistry even though they both are betrothed to different people.
i was a team maven until SPOILER he betrayed every one, i was feeling like "he won't do it it's a cliché" but i was so surprised omg, i hope he is just manipulated by his mother (i really need to read the other books). I liked Cal but i love more his brother so idk .I can't wait to read the rest of the history to make my mind (sorry for my broken english lol)
Leah wrote: "Cal, all the way. I was on Cal's team the first moment he entered the story. What really sold me though, was the dance lessons."I totally agree with you, and I am team Cal, but Maven isn't like a pure evil guy, he was broken by being the shadow of his brother. When he said that during balls girls always choose Cal unless he orders them to go with maven. And now Mare had feelings for his brother which angered him even more. He's brother went for his "betrothed" the one thing that Cal couldn't have. But, I'm pretty sure Cal didn't do all of those things on purpose. He didn't choose to be his father's favorite. So yeah I'm team Cal but I don't completely hate Maven
Cal because he seems kind but able to adapt to different circumstances and while having a moody/stony facade, he doesn't have evil intentions like Maven (unless something happens further in the series because I've only read the first two).
cal. defenetly. i mean, he brought her to the palace, kissed. protected her even after what she did to him. i mean, maven was good. until he wasent. then i threw my book across the room.
Everybody is saying cal but like am i the only one who as hoping for an enemies to lovers trope for maven and mare??? Just me?....ok
Ok so, At first I LOVED Maven, but now that I finished it, I have some certain feelings... But I do like Cal!
Maven. Cal is ruined in the final books. At first he was decisive and confident, now he needs his grandma's approval on everything. I doubt that even if he had became a king, he would still ask her on how to rule his kingdom. Such a great character but Victoria Aveyard destroyed him slowly as the story progressed. He has the worst character development in history while he had the potential to be the best character in this series. On the other hand, Maven is an interesting character. You can see how he is conflicted between himself and how that little good remaining part of him fought in vain. Maven certainly had no choice. His character is well-written and his ending tells us that his good side managed to win and how he accepted that he won't be able to fight that monster Elara created. Such a tragic ending. Also, Maven had motivation, he is catatonic, wicked, he is a badass for fighting alone and scheming. I got alittle disappointed by how he got snared in the end. It was so predictable and it feels kinda stupid that he was caught that easily. I expected a plot-twist or that Maven would come up with a plan to escape but... he was really that easily captured. I just want to say that I loved Cal at first but Victoria Aveyard ruined him so much that he became funny and useless. Maven is well-written, despite how poorly his downfall was written (I still can't get over how super easy he got captured) other than that he is unique, he has a good side, he is wicked and smart. He has motivation and his thoughts are just crazy. Maven won our hearts.

anyone, and I mean ANYONE that has read all of the books and still chooses Maven needs to go to therapy. I am in no way saying that Cal is a good character. He sucks. Just in a less psychopathic way.
Cal, because Maven is just........ we'll if you read the book you know. He's a big baby and will do anything, ANYTHING for power and I hate him.
At first I was Team Maven but now I am most definitely on Team Cal❤️❤️❤️ Cal and Mare are one of the best relationships in the book, only second to Shade and Farley

I also loved Maven a lot. I was really bummed out at the end :(
i dont think y'all have read the last book. War storm. yeah theres four and if you aint read the all dont read on but for all y'all who are wishing for Maven to live.... well... sorry. And it was such a shame how he went out too
Cal is obviously better for Mare, Maven is a good character by himself. His depth and his actions make for a better story but that doesn't change the fact that he is a horrible human being. He made Cal kill his father because, oh my god, 'he kissed a girl I've known for like two weeks!', that was pure evil especially considering how much Cal loved Maven and how much Cal loved his father as well, even at the end of the last book. Also the fact that he killed children..? And that he tortured Mare..?? AND he branded Mare like some goddamn psycho? He didnt love Mare he just wanted to possess her so that he wins over his brother on something and to be completely honest Mare didn't exactly deserve Cal consdering the fact that she used him and the shit she said in the second book. Additionally, the fact that in the thrid book she makes him choose between her and his country (of which he would have been a good leader) and when he doesn't choose her she throws up a fit unable to realize that she was unwilling to make ANY sacrifices.
Also, while maven was brainwashed and stuff by his mother, what about after his mother had died? And Cal had also been taught since he was born that Reds are evil but he rose up above that didn't he? Maven succumbed to it all and eventhough it is kind of justified, why should Mare have to deal with his problems and his temper tantrums? It's not her duty, especially if she doesn't even like him. And especially considering everything he did to her, as stated above. And eventhough mare is a little annoying, no one should have to go through being with someone who tortured her and so much more.
And cal has lost so much, he had to go through killing his own father, losing a brother whom he loved against all odds and not having a mother while growing up. Even with all that he still remained a somewhat decent individual through the series!
Cal honestly just deserves someone much better, but mare is fine ig
Ngl I like Maven, unlike so many villains he actually has emotions and doesn’t seem like a naturally bad person.

Guys......what? He literally sent mare a dead baby as a message....
WARNING CONTAIN SPOILERSI liked Maven when he wasn't trying to kill Mare. And he is exactly my type. Smart, sarcastic, strong, nice, gentlemen, etc that's not the point. And he's badass there's no denying it. So I think I'd like him if he genuinely liked Mare and wasn't trying to kill her or changed because he loved her.
Gel wrote: "Cal should end up with Mare because MAVEN IS MINE!! Hahahaha"No! He's MINEEEE!!! Lmao haha
I would say probably Maven. And not just because I hate Cal, but I do. I like Maven because I feel like he has a certain softness to him, and Cal is more strong physically. Maven is more headstrong which I prefer. ALSO- "I COULD SET THE WORLD ON FIRE AND CALL IT RAIN" I would get it tattooed when I'm old enough.also again, if I couldn't have him, I would have Kilorn. If Kilorn met any other end than the one that he got I would have cried.
Diane wrote: "Still, (spoiler) when someone revels in a gleeful method to kill me in gruesome manner (with a gleam in his eye, and a cruel twisted smile), it is sort of a turnoff. I think Maven is more likely to..."This is actually the funniest thing I've ever read.
Maven. Maven all the way. He was(and still is) amazing, and he deserved a better life. I wish the damage Elara did to him was undone when she died, but Maven deserved better nonetheless.
Hear me out. Maven. He is broken and just needs someone aka Mare to fix him, his mother did this to him, he never asked to have parts of him torn out and his love taken away. He just wanted to be loved and Mare was the only one who could give him the love he needed. She is the only one that can make him complete.
