Maven or Cal???

Maven is a secret keeper but he's a good/bad person, yet everyone is like that in their own way. I would actually, now that I think about it. Neither. I choose neither of them. It would be too hard to choose.

Yea, I do feel bad for Maven too, but do you think he deserves to be with Mare after all he has done?

Like I said in previous posts, I don't ship Maven and Mare. I really don't ship anybody. I don't care about (or like) the romance in the series enough to do so.
In my opinion, Mare is better off on her own. Without all the romance in the way, she's a way better MC. While it's nice to have and be with someone, Mare doesn't absolutely need to end up with someone in the end. So there.
(Tbh, screw Team Maven and Team Cal. What about Team Mare?)
Also, I don't care whether he's good enough for her or deserves to be with her. While I do like/love some of the other characters, Maven is who I care about (and love) the most. Especially now that the series is wrapping up and anything could happen at this point.
That's all I really have left to say about this whole thing.

Lol. I don't know how you don't care for the romance in the series! I literally cried over it! You probably are just that type that doesn't like romance. I have a friend at my school like that; she thinks the romance in all of my books is absurd. Anyway, what do you think will happen in War Storm?

I actually love romance. It's my favorite genre. I just don't care for the romance in this series. And as for War Storm, the only sure thing I know will happen is there are going to be some major deaths happening.

I just feel so bad for everything Maven has had to go through, for his entire life, and now he's all alone, with nothing but his broken mind for company. It's worst than what Mare has had to go through, and she has gone through a LOT. I'm hoping that SOMEONE out there will rescue Maven from all this horror in the next book. He's just so precious, I can't stand to see anything horrible happen to him!!!

MAVEN...HELP...the REDS!?! I don't think so! Did you not read about the part where he killed thousands of newbloods and innocents just to get Mare back?! And it sure did take him a while to come to peace with the Lakelands, which means that the Reds were still up on the front lines. He was also the one that decided he would just go ahead and lower the conscription age to 15!!! HARSH! Maven is an interesting character and makes the story intriguing, but that doesn't mean I like him. Also, I know it is Elara's -not his- fault that he is evil, but Maven is still a monster. It certainly doesn't mean he is a good person either! Team Cal ya'll. XD

I think of it this way; every story has a villain, and this series' is Elara/Maven (oof I'm sorry I like just started the 2nd book please don't kill me ;0; im such a newbie still so I probably don't know as much as you :((). But, what if Elara HADN'T made him follow in her footsteps—he'd be a completely different person, like the Maven Mare was introduced to in the beginning. I compare that Maven to Cal. And I'm Team Maven because Maven is more of an intriguing character. Just, take a moment and think about it like that... :)
(but honestly, even though Maven's the villain, he's still my fave. #TeamMaven XD)

(view spoiler)
I do like Cal a lot, though, so I'm hoping he's nicer to the Reds in the next book, especially after all the Scarlet Guard have done for him.

has the potential to be call if he can come to the realization of whether the life he has chosen so far is what he really wants or if it is what everyone wants for him. My impression right now and maybe someone else's impression is that he has some much time accumulated in the royal life and having their opinions weighed on him, take that and also having the relaxation that his father just passed and was taken from him at his hand, a long with his mother's previous passing. Cal very well deserves a couple years of calm in my opinion. The whole community does. But he would have to come to that realization himself and quickly because if he takes too long then we may just se the guard over throw him.
Maven is really a wild card. With everything. At one point I saw the valid reason to hate and despise him for continuing to be treachorus after his mothers passing. But in thinking about that for awhile, well, it makes sense. When someone that has been influencing you for so long abruptly leaves your life- there is no "grief handbook" there is nothing saying that everyone has to get over things as quickly as others. And while I would like to think that in this instance of being free of a voice of control in my head that I would be relieved. His situation was much, much more long term than anything that I have yet to experience. So I do understand Maven. And slowly we can see his realizations that he is comming to (now of his own accord) and it seems like he is starting to understand as well.
But no one can deny that he has still been doing some bat(crap) crazy things of late so- I am going to say that I am tentatively interested in seeing how Aveyard doesn't screw this up.
BUT GOD PLEASE DONT PULL A DAMN Suzanne Collins and go killing off someone that you don't need to kill!
We need to have some sort of killing cap on YA authors that says "Past this many deaths- and I gotta put cha into the adult section, sorry" jkjkjkk ;)

Oh my god so true.....Team Cal!!!

I was wondering if you would complete my survey about how protagonists within dystopian literature challenge power and authority. Link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/H8LMR8R
Your feedback would be greatly appreciated :)
Btw, I vote Team Cal!

Give me 3 reasons why you choose Maven.

I honestly don't know I just love him

I loved Maven so, SO much! But his betrayal broke my heart and I spent 2 days trying not to cry about it. I eventually got over him once I started the 2nd book and decided that maybe Shade is my favorite now, even though I still miss him so much. I always knew that Mare would end up with Cal, but I still wish Maven and Mare were together. It was so heart-breaking for me, even though I knew it would possibly happen that way (Because of Julian's "He is his mother's son")

I still haven't gotten over his betrayal! I remember when I was reading the scene and my jaw dropped open. After I finished that chapter I had to sit there for a moment and let it sink in. He's still my favorite character though! No other character can take his place for me (although I'm a huge fan of Shade and Farley).

It's even more fun when they're both in a scene together! I'm hoping that will happen a lot more in the last book.

Oh my stars, same! It took me a long time to get over him, and even now I miss him when he was the "shadow". (Spoiler Alert) I loved Shade too and thought that maybe I should replace Shade as my favorite, but Glass Sword really broke me apart.

Thank you, thank you so much fellow Calare fan.

I cant choose one"
Thank you! It's so nice that you like both of them. Most readers have either joined Maven's side or Cal's, but I'm a fan of both! Personally I prefer Maven, but I want them both to live in the end!

Just wondering if you can help me out by completing a survey for my major work about dystopian literature. Here is the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/H8LMR8R
Thanks in advance :)

Let me help you....the answer is Cal :)

BUUUT, do you think he should be Mare's significant other? Her lover? Her husband? Her true love?
