R13: SS Team 1 - All Series Start With One
Hmmmm, guess I can't read my #3 book in series. :D I'll let you know tonight what I decide.
I’m going with a book that also works for my SSS roll. I’m on my phone, so I’ll post it tonight. Actually, it’s pretty short - I may get it done tonight. I’ll need to have it done by tomorrow night, anyway.
I won't finish early this week, likely not until Wednesday or Thursday as it is a 22hr audiobook and I can't put down my CR so I need to find out how it ends today and start the other tomorrow.

You do have all day Friday to post the Review. We just can not roll until all the reviews are posted.

Review: I have very mixed feelinga about both this book and the series. At times I thought Illuminate the Shadows was pretty bad, but then it would catch my interest again and I'd revise my opinion. This happened several times in what was, frankly, a pretty short book - earlier editions have a much lower pagecount. I'll keep going with the series for at least one more - then we'll see.

Review: Lana and Sawyer's story was a cute and easy read. But I did have some issues with it when I look beyond just the surface. Some plot lines are so similar to what happens in another book by this author it was obviously a recycled scenarios. So that is a bit disapointing. The author could have done it in a way to make it just a bit different, but sadly that was not done much. The other thing is some of Sawyer's behaviour from book one that was off but not glaring was brought up in this book and became very obvious as not normal for a hormonal testosterone driven teenage boy. So ya, as a surface read it is cute, and it you have not read the authors Sea Breeze series it is likely to bother you less.

How it fits: book 2 of the Cursed Luck series
Rating: 3 stars
Review: Kennedy and Aiden once again get embroiled in a plot with (view spoiler) and this time around it involves a group of 4 cursed paintings. We also have plenty of family drama as Aiden starts to realize just how far his parents will go to keep their heir on the "right" track.
I really like Aiden and Kennedy (and their siblings). However the first part of the book dragged and was angsty relationship stuff. The second half flew as they became embroiled in the cursed painting plot (view spoiler)
Will definitely continue with this series if it continues
Started my romance novel last night. Might be finished it tonight, but I am exhausted so tomorrow is much more likely. Just letting everyone know I am still alive. :D
I am making progress on mine but still have a lot to go. I will work on it tonight.

Review:
I was a little bit disappointed in this book. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad but the author kinda let me down. This author doesn't go with normal tropes. So you don't get typical Vampyres, ghosts, or Lycans. You get the author's own personal twist on these races which I totally love. That is the reason I read these books. The problem is that the rest of the book felt like a letdown this time. Lizzie was just plain frustrating and whiny. She is quite annoying and self-centered. I don't remember thinking this in book 1. I hope the next book is better because I love the author's originality usually.
I freely admit that romance novels are not really my thing and that I keep putting this one down in favour of other books. :D However, I will finish tonight and have a review up long before our rolling deadline. Promise!

Review: It was a romance novel, fairly typical of the genre but everyone involved seemed to have a sense of humour, which helps make the entire book more enjoyable. Even the children were funny. And children generally ruin a book.

review: it felt very slow and needlessly long to me. also, at around 2/3 of the way through I got extremely turned off by the derogatory terms used to refer to transgender people. part of me wants to find out how the series ends but a bigger part of me is not sure I can sit through another book like that. i will need to think on it a while before I decide if I can continue this series.

Review: In this third instalment of the Undercover Dish Mystery by Julia Buckley we once again find the main character Lilah Drake caught up in the middle of a murder investigation. This death happens at a birthday party and is witnessed by herself, her friend Ellie and a police detective. Detective Jay Parker is put in charge of the case, and has a personal motive to seek the killer this time.
As I stated with the first book this is a twist on the caterer, cook or baker status quo for many of these food related cozy mysteries. It was definitely entertaining. But again as with most in this genre it really does follow a formula. Once again it is good for semi quick light diverting fun read in my opinion.
