R13: SS Team 1 - All Series Start With One

For some reason I thought that route crossed the border so I have always taken the other way.

Good to hear! Yeah, I know. I couldn't find a good one with 4 books that I had access to. I think Allison Anne is planning to do a whole series...

I will continue to look thru what I have as a back-up so she does not have all the pressure on her. I only got thru some of my options so hopefuuly I will find something that works down the list.

Sounds good. And I am good to cover the 3 in a series with that series unless someone else wants to do it and then I can just be a back up for that.

Does not hurt to have more than one of us going after those multiple book ones just-in-case. Especially if it is somethinge we want to read.
I'm good for the >500 page book bonus - this upcoming week, probably. I'm actually playing both SS and SSS and since I can use the same book for both I want to get it done when the numbers are most likely to match up.And because of other challenges, I'll almost certainly read a MPG Romance for the 2/11 roll.
The 3 in a series and the full series are a little trickier because of the other challenges, but it might happen. It sounds like it's all under control, though!

Guess I should have mentioned that. 😉 But better to double up than miss one.
Thanks T
Somehow we will make it work. 🤓
Unless they are terrible, I will read the whole series. And if they are terrible, I will read a different series. :D But I don't mind if someone else gets the bonus point. As long as we kick the other team's butts.
Possible coverage for BONUS POINTS✸ One point can be earned for reading three or more books in a series. (Mandiann, Allison Ann & ?)
✸ One point can be earned for reading a book with >500 pages. (Truitt T, Alison & ?)
✸ One point can be earned for starting and finishing a series. (Allison Ann & ?)
✔✸
✸ One point can be earned for never picking a book from the alternate lists. This point is awarded when your team rolls past 90. (we will see, ¿ & ?)
✸ Valentine's Bonus: One point can be earned for reading a Romance book for the roll on 02/11. (Truitt T, Alison & ?)

Ok, thanks galsJust looked at each of those three series and it looks like none of them will work for the One point can be earned for starting and finishing a series bonus, but if you want they could work for the One point can be earned for reading three or more books in a series bonus.
~ Mandiann's Glittering Court series is only 3 books.
~ Diane's Season for Scandal series will not work because #3.5, of the 4 books, does not meet the min page requirements(✸ Page limit: min. 140 pages)
~ Donna's A Shade of Vampire series is just way, way too long, it seems, what was it like 60+ books. lol!
This is not an issue, just wanted to make sure everyone was on the same page. 🤓
I have so many options I just can not come to a discussion on what to read, still working on just narrowing down my choices.

Even more fun explaining to someone from Europe about our distances. No madame, you can not fly into Vancouver BC and drive to Toronto Ontario for lunch. :D Unless it is lunch 3 days later.
Oh yeah! I learned about that back in High School, one of my close friends is first generation, so her grandparents or other family would visit and just could not understand that nor the lack of public transportation we had in Tahoe.🤓

Totally up to you.
If you want to read that, or it and something else, not sure how fast you read.
I listened to a book I can use for this week, but it is the only one in a new series so does not work for the bonus, I am still looking for one that might work for a bonus, so may do a different book instead.
We have the potential of other rolls that could be used to start a series if we land on say space 41 or 61. After all realistically this challenge is at least 9 weeks and that is only if teams can roll high numbers every week.
Something that is niggling at the back of my brain. For the bonus of ✸ One point can be earned for starting and finishing a series. There must be at least 4 books in that series. Series + spin-off totalling ≥4 books also counts. For series with >9 books, point will be awarded for reading books 1-9. For still ongoing series, all books published to date (OR up to #9 in longer series) must be read.~ No re-reads on this one.It does not state that all of the books have to be read as tasks for this challenge. It says "must be read" but, not specifically for this challenge.
So in my mind I am wondering if book 1 and the last book are read, possibally a few of the others for tasks for this as long as the player read the others before the end of the challenge..... 🤔😕🤔
Or is it implied? And that would be skirting the rules? 😒😕🤔🤔🤔
Also Donna, re-reading this Bonus task you could use that series up to book 9. "...For series with >9 books, point will be awarded for reading books 1-9. For still ongoing series, all books published to date (OR up to #9 in longer series) must be read.~ No re-reads on this one.
Someone did askRoger - president of NBR United - wrote: "For the finish and start the series do we have to read the fractions, ie 4.5, or 2.6?"
Denise wrote: "No, just the full numbers.
You can however count a fraction book for the 3 books from the same series point if you want, provided it fulfills the minimum page requirement."
Alison (Lady Coffin) wrote: "It does not state that all of the books have to be read as tasks for this challenge. It says "must be read" but, not specifically for this challenge.

It's implied. Meant to be, anyway, though I guess I might need to spell it out in future rounds. 🤔
I think we might have had the question come up in previous rounds, but either way: All books in the series must be read as part of the challenge (either for a series number task or an alternate) if you want to claim the bonus. Same goes for the "3 books from the same series" bonus.

Review: Ivory makes her living by making scandals never happen and this time she's called in when a dead earl is found tied to the bed of a missing, unmarried 18 year old girl during a party. The girl's brother (The Duke) returns unexpectedly and insists in being involved which causes Ivory much trouble as he questions her constantly and the more he is around the bigger her attraction grows.
It was a good story with some mystery and lots of interesting secondary characters for future books. I'm not a huge fan of historical romances, but I'll continue this series.
I'm not much for romance novels, but that one sounds interesting Diane. Always enjoy when the female MC has some kind of background/job/interest rather than just being young and naive. :DFinished my book this morning before work and I'll get the review up tonight. Good book, I will definitely continue on with the series. Let's hope for a #2 in our next roll.
Denise, Thanks for the clarification. I think that is what I must have always believed in the past. Just got frustrated finding a series that will work this time and so started thinking outside of the box. 😉🤓
Allison AnnNo rush on the review post, we have many days.
As for a 2 it is highly likely with spot 15 this time. With rolling two dice, it will minimum get us to spot 17, but a roll above five is much more likely and even with the highest roll we would still only end up on 27.

Review: I liked the premise of the series. A vampire community kidnaps humans to keep their society alive but the prince falls in love with one of them triggering an old prophecy. It is a bit slower-paced than most of her books that I have read so far. It does have potential so I am hoping that it picks up in future books. I am also very curious about this prophecy that they have triggered as the author only alludes to it but doesn't go into any details. Overall, an interesting read and I look forward to more.

Review: A good start to a series with a very interesting premise. The MC is working for a book collector, trying to track down rare books. As a reader and a mystery lover, this job makes my heart happy. MC Jordan is quirky without being annoying, my main pet peeve in cozies. Her family is awesome, her friends are not very present yet, but I hope that will change and her employer adds a touch of difficulty to keep things from being too perfect. Looking forward to what happens next.

Review: I'm not a particularly big fan of books with criminal MCs or that heavily involve gangs/organized crime, etc., but I recently read another book by this author that I enjoyed and was intrigued by the psychic angle, so I gave it a shot. Early on, I thought I'd made a mistake. It's a long book and rather slow going, but I ultimately enjoyed Nick and Brian and their very difficult situation.

While I didn't love the characters, I really enjoyed the world and the story. I thought the ending was quite pleasant and wrapped this chapter up nicely while still leaving me with enough questions and interest to continue on with the other books in the series. Solid immersive fluff but far from my favourite by this author.

Review: Oops! Pasted second book review in the wrong place. 😕
As I stated with the first book this is a twist on the caterer, cook or baker status quo for many of these food related cozy mysteries. It was definitely entertaining, I liked aspects, and a character from this second book better than the first. But as with most in this genre it really does follow a formula. So again it is good for semi quick light diverting read in my opinion.
