Lie Down With Dogs
is a good police procedural. Four stars. My review:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
It's impossible to figure out who all
The Liars
are in Aussie author Petronella McGovern's new small town mystery. From colonial crimes to more recent rapes and disappearances, it seems nobody is safe and anybody could be under suspicion.
3★ My review of The Liars
I wish all books written for young people were as appealing as
Blueback
is to readers of any age. Much-awarded Aussie author Tim Winton knows exactly how to talk to kids, without talking down, when describing his beloved coast and its precious underwater world.
5★ My review of Blueback
I just finished listening to Midnight at Malabar House
A well done historical mystery. My four star review:

I read How the Light Gets In by Louise Penny It is book 9 in the series, set in the Eastern Townships of Quebec, Canada. Both my wife and I enjoyed it and recommend it. My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Now starting TOURIST SEASON by Carl Hiaasen, his debut novel published way back in 1986 that earned a nomination for the Shamus Award as the Best First Novel.
What She Found by Robert Dugoni ⭐⭐⭐⭐.1https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...

I finished my first by a noted crime author
Somebody Owes Me Money by Donald E. Westlake
Rating: 3 stars
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
And I started the first in the Rivers of London urban fantasy series
Midnight Riot by Ben Aaronovitch
and I also started a noteworthy Australian novel about three young ladies who go missing on a picnic...
Picnic at Hanging Rock by Joan Lindsay
I just listened to Say Goodbye for Now
It fell flat for me. My three star review:

I read Last Seen Alive by Carolyn Arnold I found it to be an engaging police procedural and recommend it. Both my wife and I enjoy this series. My 4 star review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I often think about boys like Paul, the ones with such strong desires but no idea of what it takes to fulfill them. Willa Cather's short story, Paul's Case, is unforgettable.
5★ My review with a link to the story online
Returned to one of my former favorite series by Marcia Muller. This is #16, and I know I've probably read others beyond this one, but who's counting? The Broken Promise Land
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
La's Orchestra Saves the World
by Alexander McCall SmithA woman called La passes WWII in a country town where she conducts an amateur orchestra meant to lift people's sprits.
Good story. 3.5 stars

A very busy weekend left me with absolutely no time for reading. But today I've already started reading Glory by NoViolet Bulawayo.
Just finished Dead Irish (Diana's Hardy #1) / John Lescroart ; Narrated by: David Colacci https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
I just listened to Before She Disappeared
Not among Gardner’s best. My three star review:

Pam, your link goes to the book, not the review. Having a bad day? 🤣🤣
The Body in the Stairwell
is a different sort of police procedural. My four star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
The Night Shift
by Alex FinlayTwo similar multiple killings - in a Blockbuster and an ice cream shop - occur 15 years apart. A pregnant FBI agent investigates along with the cops.
Good thriller. 3.5 stars

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie. A classic mystery that still surprises. 4/5
My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Carrie Soto Is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ https://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I’m slowly making my way through the Guido Brunetti series. By Its Cover
was decent, but not great. My 3.5 star review:https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I agree -- I really enjoyed this story.

Altered Carbon
by Richard MorganSci-Fi neo-noir private eye thriller set in San Francisco 500 years in the future. Densely packed and not an easy read with lots of vocabulary from Morgan's imagination of the 25th century. Completely original but I found it impossible to feel any empathy for the hero . This is the first of three volumes in the series but I won't be reading the remainder. 3 stars.
5 star review of upcoming children's book
Adam wins the Internet by Adam BAdamBhttps://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I read A Killer in King's Cove by Iona Whishaw It is a cozy historical fiction mystery, set in rural 1946 British Columbia, Canada.. Both my wife and I enjoyed it and recommend it. My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I finished a classic "romantic suspense" novel by the author of Rebecca and The Birds
My Cousin Rachel by Daphne du Maurier
Rating: 4 stars
Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
and I started reading
Into the Water by Paula Hawkins
but I admit I'm not completely sure why
I had a bad day with links, too, so I'm reposting this.John Boyne finally wrote an adult sequel to his much-loved The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and it is terrific! All the Broken Places is older sister Gretel's 'autobiography' from when she was the 12-year-old daughter of a Nazi officer, then passing as French in Australia, and finally to the age of 92 in London. What a story!
5★ My review of All the Broken Places
Finished listening last night. Sweet but a bit repetitive. I much more prefer her Hamish Macbeth or Agatha Raisin books.
Finished Michael Wood's 10th Matilda Darke book, Silent Victim
, due out in October.https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I gave up on the hopelessly inadequate
Into the Water by Paula Hawkins
and started reading the third book in the Bosch series
The Concrete Blonde by Michael Connelly
