Forgot to mention that I've started reading Death At The President's Lodging by Michael Innes (1937), the first in the Inspector Appleby series.
Just completed The Girl in the Spider's Web, the first book of David Lagercrantz's continuation of the Millennium trilogy. I think he did a good job. Will read the next instalment.
Oh yes. I didn’t notice you typed the incorrect title, but I knew which movie it was. It has at least a couple actors I really like, Frank Finlay and Guy Doleman. I’d maybe watch it if it’s so-bad-it’s-good, like some of the much lesser Hammer Film productions.Karloff did a TV movie of the book, which is much better. He plays the actual character too.
Jim how’s your book going called River of the Gods: Genius, Courage and Betrayal in the Search for the Source of the Nile by Candice Millard?

I found Deadly Bees on youtube as an episode of MST3K so against my better judgment, I watched it. Oh lordy, that was terrible, even with bot banter. The main character in the movie is a singer who is exhausted and needs a break ... no Mr. Mycroft, no nothing actually connected with the novel except for the bees and a name or two. Book fun movie bad.

I just finished listening to Hidden River
Not as good as his later books but still worth a listen. My three star review:

Away from mysteries for the moment. While I'm waiting for The Final Girl Support Group to show up in the mail I'm dipping into Dennis Etchison's The Dark Country. It's been on my shelf a looong time and I should have read it all by now. That said, the minute Hendrix's novel shows, I'm diving in.
When the Corn is Waist High
by Jeremy ScottThriller about multiple killings in a small town. Bland shallow characters but a dynamite plot. Takes a while to get there but it's worth the wait. I liked it
Like Liz, I just enjoyed The Woman in the Library, by one of my favourite Aussie authors, Sulari Gentill. It's a wonderfully tricky, multi-layered mystery where I think I suspected almost everyone, real and fictional. A great read!
4.5~5★ My review of The Woman in the Library"
The Lying Dutchman by Graham Brack is the latest entertaining (and informative) adventure of Master Mercurius, a gentle Dutch cleric, coerced into spying in 17th century England. Always entertaining!
4★ My review of The Lying Dutchman
I just finished Fatal Witness
A good addition to the series. My review:

The Secret World of Connie Starr by Robbi Nealhttps://sandysbookaday.wordpress.com/...

I read The Law of Innocence by Michael Connelly I have read 36 books by Connelly and strongly recommend his books to mystery/thriller fans. I rate this one 4.5 stars rounded up. My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I was surprised to learn I was a bit mistaken about the significance of the actual date, June 19. The Juneteenth Story: Celebrating the End of Slavery in the United States by Alliah L. Agostini set me straight in this well-illustrated book for kids (and ignorant grown-ups like me).
4★ My Juneteenth Story review with pictures
Deeds of Darkness by Mel Starr part of The Chronicles of Hugh de Singleton, Surgeon. My fourth read of this 15 book series. It's quite good.
Rock of Ages
by Timothy HallinanJunior Bender #8, you probably should read the series in order. Just FYI, Tim Hallinan couldn't write a dull book if he tried. In this one Junior is tasked to keep watch on a bunch of crooks who have organized a tour of old rock bands. The first chapter is a bit slow but from then on this thing screams ahead like a '57 Chevy with a Corvette engine. 5 big loud stars.
And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie - classic and the ultimate closed-circle mystery published in 1939My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/4778668543
. I just listened to Two Nights in Lisbon.Just ok for me. My three star review:

The Other Guest by Helen CooperHelen CooperHere's my very short 5* review
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Now starting ROCK OF AGES by Timothy Hallinan, the eighth novel in his ongoing mystery series featuring the erudite and humorous burglar Junior Bender, who often finds himself serving as a private eye to Hollywood's criminal elite. This is one of my favorite series that is somewhat off of the radar for mystery fans. I do hope they manage to track it down because Hallinan is one of the best in the business.
i read Rain Dogs by Adrian McKinty I rate 3.5 stars rounded up. It is set in N. Ireland during the troubles My review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Enjoying The Corpse in the Waxworks: A Paris Mystery by the Golden Age writer John Dickson Carr. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...
