Today I received Willowman by Inga Simpson from Hachette and QBD Books. And also Putting on a Show: Manhood, Mates and Mental Health by Rob Mills from Affirm Press. Keen to get reading!
Nice ones, Rowan. I received an email from an AR work friend, I normally would have missed it, as I am on sick leave from a dental issue, but I was logged in unexpectedly, asking me if I wanted her spare copy of Wildflowers. That would have been copy number four...

This book seems to be everywhere! I hope you recover from your dental issue soon :)
Absolutely chuffed to have received a copy of Runt by Craig Silvey in today’s mail. Can’t wait to read this little gem 🤗
Collected a library reserve:Dark Deeds Down Under: A Crime & Thriller Anthology
and thrilled to get a print copy of Day's End by Garry Disher from the publisher

"Yay! I can't wait to get this one, Jools, before I see the author in a couple of weeks. Currently listening to Jasper..
Suz wrote: "Well done Brenda. Still can't believe I haven't read Disher!"Disher and Dave Warner? Suz, what's going on??
BTW: very excited to be only hours away from starting on Day's End myself. The Kirsch series rivals his Challis and Destry series

👌
From the local Vinnies, which seems to be phasing out books now that I'm not there to organise the bookshelves, Sweet Jimmy by Bryan Brown for $3
Marianne wrote: "From the local Vinnies, which seems to be phasing out books now that I'm not there to organise the bookshelves, Sweet Jimmy by Bryan Brown for $3"Oh no, they aren't keeping it up, Marianne. That's no good.
Well!Rant time for me.
I went to put the rubbish out now, and found a wet and soggy package. It's Sunday and we've had a down pour, and others have said they got their items last week. So all of mine are water damaged. I'm so annoyed with Aus Post. I've sent off an email to them (they did say go to the local store but I have no faith in that as every time you tell them a slip was left when you are home they don't care in the slightest).
So I have three damaged books, but frustratingly I see Craig Silvey about Runt net week and that is the worst of the lot and wanted to get it signed.
I emailed A&U saying I've put in the complaint with Aus Post but asking for another as I had wanted it signed. So frustrating that the courier would leave it in an inappropriate location that would never be looked at. I told them my yard is safe etc etc. Not good enough!
Has anything like this happend to anyone else?
Sorry, cranky me will sign off now.
A new postie left mine against the garage door…luckily I checked before the rain as others said they were receiving theirs. My regular postie used to bring into the back porch if we weren’t home, bless him. 🤷🏻♀️ They are obviously books and only packed in cardboard so postie should not leave there, especially in this weather. Take photos whenever that happens and keep at Aus Post because it’s negligent. Meantime you could try putting one of those big plastic boxes with a lid on it out there for packages…though this weather could see it floating away!
I haven't received mine yet, but this is why I'm glad we have a PO Box, and I get excited every time I get an email saying they have a parcel for me.
In the mail today, thanks A&U:Runt by Craig Silvey
and a second copy of Mad Honey which is going on to Dale

A very appreciative and excited Dale. So generous and sweet of you Marianne.
Oh that's nice of you, Marianne!I have emailed Aus Post and awaiting their response, I received an intial one saying I apologise as I am a keen reader and collecter and the Nepean manager will get in touch with you..
A&U resent the books which is very generous..
My nice delivery guy said that many couriers just dump on driveways! I said 'I like books' and he says 'I know!' He also liked Jools idea of the plastic box, and I can also laminate a sign at work. Just don't dump stuff in the rain! Seemed obvious to me when it's maybe 10 extra metres.
So all is well that ends well thanks to the generosity of A&U, and a package requiring signature.
I am reading Runt now, and have just quickly fit in Honeybee and Jasper Jones as I am seeing the author. So late to the party for Craig Silvey!
Today's book harvest from Vinnies and Salvos, for the total sum of $13:Artemis by Andy Weir

My copy of The Proxy Bride that I won back in the first week of September turned up. Missed the online bookclub for the book but still looking forward to reading it.
Marianne wrote: "In the mail today (thank you Dale!):The Life She Deserves by Maggie Christensen"
My pleasure Marianne,
Last night after my huge day I had
from Better Reading
because it is the most gorgeous book and I had to buy it after I borrowed it from the libraryand from A&U
The courier must be reading my cranky note I placed on the gate and 'practicing common sense'. Was it ever passive aggressive!
Unnecessary Drama by Nina Kenwood courtesy of Text Publishing. I really enjoyed Nina's first book, It Sounded Better in My Head, so I am looking forward to this one.
RecipeTin Eats: Dinner: 150 recipes from Australia’s most popular cook by Nagi Maehashi. My favourite food blogger by a country mile! I have never had a recipe of hers fail. Even though I rarely buy cookbooks, this one was definitely coming home with me.
