Lucky you Sharah! I'm really looking forward to this one :)

This week I listened to a podcast where Richard Flanagan and Michael Robotham were talking about the hidden costs of cheap books. It’s made me want to do my little bit to help Australian authors, particularly lesser known ones. So instead of asking the library to buy it, I’ve gone out this morning and paid full price for Matia, the debut novel by AA Emily Tsokos Purtill, at an independent bookshop. I’m planning to do this every month.
Good on you Andrea! That's a lovely thing to do. I've done a bit the same - buying from the authors themselves at full price. They all need the support, that's for sure!
Dropped in a few books at the street library and picked up:The Oxenbridge King by Christine Paice
I Will Ruin You by Linwood Barclay and
In the Clearing by J.P. Pomare
Had a lovely lunch in Cronulla with Jools, Carolyn, Suz and Anna, and came away with Cherrywood which was on my wishlist, and The Hummingbird Effect, which I'd also been meaning to read. A bit late with mentioning this as we have had no internet at home for almost 2 weeks and to do anything much, I'm having to take my laptop to the library.
Yesterday in the mail, The Oasis: Menzies Mental Health Novel 2, which is the follow up to The Glass House
Another one from Better Reading,The Worst Perfect Moment. As much as I love reading, I'm glad this review isn't due until January!
Looks like Dymocks have remaindered some 2024 books into the Crown St Wollongong street library, all without a back cover but brand new: about 15 copies of Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty (I took 1 for me and 1 for our building) 2 copies of In Too Deep by Lee Child
a copy of The Waiting by Michael Connelly
a copy of Stories from the Otto Bin Empire by Judy Nunn (took this for my sister)
and an ARC of The Inheritance by Kate Horan
Received this for Christmas Counting Miracles
My dh knows me well. Loved it Review is now up
Hristmas
Uh-oh! Wollongong Library is having their book sale, and at 50c a book, this could get bad...I spent $2 this morning:
Fear No Evil, Full Bore, Afternoons with Harvey Beam and Pride of Eden
also from the street library, Guardian Angel
Recntly won an uncorrected ARC From Better Reading. The Whisperer's War by Jackie French
Did anyone else win a copy and know what date review is due for this?
First book I have won for ages.
I was approved for a NetGalley copy Dale. It's publication date is 5th March, so around then I'd say.
I picked up the following at Kmart.Comes the Night by Isobelle Carmody (half price)
Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty
Went to Sydney a couple of weeks ago, and picked up these 2nd hand books.
Home Stretch by Graham Norton
Sanctuary by Garry Disher
The Eleventh Floor by Kylie Orr
The Survivors by Jane Harper

I have been lucky again with Better Reading previews. The Whisperer's War, The Extraordinary Misadventures of Lake and Birdy, The Mademoiselle Alliance, Love on the Air
Another book from Better Reading The Surgeon of Royaumont and a Bolinda audio of The Radio Hour that I won through Victoria's newsletter.
I just bought Stone Town by Margaret Hickey . I didn't realize it's book #2. Ah!I haven't read book 1 yet - Cutters End
Has anyone read these books? Do you think it's safe for me to jump straight into book 2...or should I read book 1 first?

Hahaha Andrea! ok I go in search of book 1 in my library ;)
I always do this to myself. I buy a book that looks interesting, only to find out it's 2nd or 3rd book in a series.
I really should check Goodreads first before buying it.
Three books in the mail in recent weeks:Eden by Mark Brandi
The Pull of the Moon by Pip Smith
Orpheus Nine by Chris Flynn
I have been very lucky and won more books. From S&S The Usual Desire to Kill from Better Reading Kids The Surface Trials from Better Reading The Whisky Widow from Allen and Unwin A Beautiful Family and from The Book Stack The Amalfi Curse
