DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments "And I forget about platinums ;-)."

Blasphemer! Is such a thing even possible???

I should be hitting no 197 in plats later as I've just the one trophy left to get on the PS4 Soul Hackers 2 run. That is provided I've not messed up by going through it too fast. Wouldn't fancy a 5th playthough at this point, so would likely leave it a while if that was the case. But think I'm on target

Think I have five platinums lol. Probably easy ones where I got most of the trophies without thinking and then thought if the last couple are easy I'll go for the plat. I probably game 7-9 hours a week nowadays so not really good for chasing trophies or achievements. Back in 360/PS3 days I probably gamed 20ish hours a week but just don't have the time nowadays - I probably didn't back then TBH and neglected a few things.

I'm hoping to be closing in on plat #190 soon. They take me so long these days :(

Managed to get to chaos level 20 on Wonderlands last night after finding some better fire power. I've just one trophy left now but its a stupid grind (unless I can find a better way of grinding money). I'll treat it like I did the laps on Grid, just chipping away a bit every day.

A rare day off to myself today so about to make a start on NFS Heat.

I will deffo consider it. I have decided for now to knuckle down with Days Gone, so a big open world game with lost of side-missions and levelling up and etc. etc...very much like Ghost of Tsushima lol. So after 70ish hours of Days Gone I'll see where the Ghost of Tsushima prices are at and decide then.

I am also bidding on a copy of Ghost on ebay but I have already entered as much as I am prepared to bid and there's still 4 days to go so don't expect to win that...

Days Gone is a really good game. It's a much longer campaign than Ghost. I really enjoyed Days Gone and it does definitely have that Zombie vibe that I enjoy - although I think they're not zombies but freakers or something lol. I think Days Gone is 60fps on PS5 so should look amazing. It looked good on PS4 Pro but only 30fps.

It does look amazing! Native 4K and 60fps. Looks better than any ps4 game I ever played, definitely a step-up.

I have all my ps4 games on an external hdd - which works fine, the games run directly off it no problems, but the load times are still standard ps4 times, but I moved Days Gone to internal storage and now it loads lightning fast too. All good :)

I thought you bought an internal SSD upgrade? The WD black. I've installed mine can't see me needing an external SDD for my PS5. I use one on my XSX - for XB1 games - but in all honesty I don't need it as I upgraded the internal storage on that too.

I did get and have installed the wd black 1tb ssd. It's working perfectly, the ps5 told me the read speed was 6500 etc.

The external drive I have plugged into one of the rear usb ports is a 2tb hdd (mechanical, not ssd - a wd elements drive) and it's got all my ps4 games on it. I just don't want the internal ssd's being filled up with ps4 games, when ps4 games play perfectly fine off an external hdd.

So yeah, I have 3.8tb of storage, mix of ssd's and an hdd lol. I moved Days Gone over to the internal wd black ssd though because i figured if that's what I'm playing for the foreseeable then I'll reduce the loading times.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Hmm extra HDD space.....I had 59 games installed on the basic PS5 HDD the other week and it was pretty irritating that I couldn't install that 60th game.... As much as I like wasting money, I think I'll pass lol

Finished off the Soul Hackers 2 double plat but after that wasn't really in the mood to continue with TLoU. So ended up adding a few more miles in Grid and started a new Elden Ring playthough. Thinking I might stick with the ER replay for a bit until I'm in the mood for the university bit in TLoU

message 1861: by [deleted user] (new)

Congrats on your double plat Deck. 3 to go for 200 now isn't it?

So am I right in thinking you've had 59 games installed on the PS5's standard internal SSD?

One of things that puts me off getting a PS5, other than being skint, is the thought of having to immediately mess about swapping storage.

message 1862: by DeckardCain's Sandals (last edited Sep 08, 2022 02:06AM) (new)

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Yup 59 games installed on the standard storage. Fair enough there were quite a few smaller games but there were enough meaty ones as well. Even at the minute I've 40 odd installed and that's including the likes of TLoU, Elden Ring, Saint's Row, Grid and quite a few other sizeable ones. I've had the PS5 from day one and at no point have I felt it's not enough and, with my gaming habits, I think that says a lot

message 1863: by [deleted user] (new)

Cheers mate. That's good to know as will save me some money and faffing about when the time comes.

I do wonder how long my PS4 will keep going given the noise it makes now and I'm starting to feel a bit left behind. And all those double plat opportunities ;)

Think I'll see what happens with finances this winter and look at getting one early next year if not before.

1/2 of that is probably CoD ;) It's definitely a ridiculous size, you'd probably only be able to fit 4 of those on a standard HDD.

I will say that most of the games I play don't have much of a MP component and know those that do often take up a whack, so don't keep too many of them installed

Error | 408 comments I'm sure having vast amounts of storage is wonderful but I've never had a problem with moving games around. It's even better since the internet in my area was upgraded. I downloaded Unsighted the other day in barely two minutes. Clocked in at 220m/down. I'm also fortunate to have no data caps on my service though, I know that affects some people.

I started off with an external SSD drive for my series x and transferring games from an external SSD wasn’t too bad but no way an external mechanical drive, it’s way too slow. And my Internet isn’t slow but no fast either 70Mbps so still hours for a big download. Internal expansion basically nothing to think about and cost wise no massively different especially on PS5.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Think I'm in a souls mood, so reinstalled (without having to delete anything and still have space to spare ;) ) Dark Souls 3. Still think 3 is probably my favourite FromSoft game, hoping maybe I'll have improved enough to manage to finish it now. But I doubt it lol

Yeah, it took about 8 or 9 mins to move Days Gone from the external mechanical hdd over to the internal ssd. It makes absolutely no difference to gameplay performance, but does speed up loading times. Obviously playing games off the external is only an option for ps4 games. ps5 games can be stored on the external but to play them they have to be moved back to the internal regardless of whether the external is mechanical or ssd.

I have enough internal storage that I shouldn't find myself having to move ps5 games from internal to external and vice-versa. Shift between the 2 internal ssd's fair enough, but that only takes a minute or so.

Yea I couldn't go back to mechanical HDD now after experiencing the speed-up in transfer times and load times on an external SSD connected to console.

Hi all. Finally completed the main campaign of Ghost of Tsushima. Really enjoyed it. Great combat, world and graphics, and a story simple but kept me engaged. 9/10 and I’d definitely play a sequel. Started the dlc campaign Ika Island which surprisingly is absolutely terrible. I don’t know what they’ve done but the enemy are different in some way to make the combat glitchy. Poorly designed and boring missions, I’ve had a few graphical glitches and I really hate the supernatural rubbish which interrupts without warning. I will finish it but only because it’s so short.

And in other news I got a platinum trophy lol. Seems I was only a handful of trophies from the platinum for Astro’s Playroom so thought I’d go for it. Easy one I guess. Actually really enjoyed Astro’s Playroom which helped and loved all the areas and levels and varied gameplay except for the gliding level. Makes me want to play Little Big Planet for some reason.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Thought I was going to have one of those times where I'd not settle on a game for a while but stumbled upon Age of Wonders: Planetfall. Nice wee mix of Civilization and Xcom. I'll get bored of it soon enough but at the minute it's keeping me interested.

Morning all. Managed to squeeze a bit of gaming in this weekend. I've done all the online centric trophies on NFS Heat so can relax a bit with it now and work through all the solo stuff.

Did a bit of grinding on Wonderlands too.

Morning everyone

Had a couple of tough weeks. My boss was on vacations and i got stuck with her work so i barely had anytime to think of anything apart from work.
Hope everyone is ok.

Been playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider and enjoying it quite a bit.
All the games from the trilogy feel the same but i end up enjoying all them all.
Im also (trying) to play Stranded Deep ocasionally and finished Lego Jurassic World.
These are my 2 week gaming report. lol.

I also hawed GTAV next gen vertsion for the X cause im stupid.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments As I suspected, I'm in a "I've no idea what I'm in the mood for" kind of mood. Age of Wonders Planetfall staved that off over the weekend but I think I'm pretty much done with that for now. I've a funny feeling I'll end up keeping at it because I can't think of what else I fancy.

Gave the demo of Metal: Hellslinger a wee go and it's mildly fun and the music is quite well done but not one I'll pick up full price

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Wow Babylon's Fall didn't last long - terminating service in Feb 2023. It's not been out that long, has it? I was planning on picking it up cheap one day to give it a go but now...

I see Plague Tale: Requiem and Scorn are out next month. Anyone interested in these?

I liked the first Plague Tale even with its frustrating boss battle so looking forward to this one. And Scorn looks very interesting but at the same time pretty disturbing - I don't normally get nightmares from games (never did from games such as Dead Space, Outlast and others) but Scorn looks truly the thing of nightmares.

I've still not played the first Plague Tale game but will be one of the first games I play on PS5 as it was a PS+ game.

Chipped away a bit more at NFS Heat last night but could do with a long session on it to make more of a dent.

Error | 408 comments Plugged a few more hours into Elex, supplemented by an unhealthy dose of Destiny 2. That game always sucks me in for a week or two, then I have to drop it.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Ahh Grid... if I added the distance from my PS4 and PS5 saves, I'd have been over 20,000 miles by now, which would have been encouraging.... but of course I didn't bother transferring the save, so still have about 2/3 of the world to cover. I'll keep it installed and chip away when I'm in a driving mood or can't think of anything else but I don't see me plat'ing it for a good few years yet. Ridiculous trophy, you'd have to be crazy to have got that one ;)

message 1885: by [deleted user] (new)

NFS Heat is looking like it will be a grind and a half (although not a Grid level grind).

Yeah I didn't bother with the NFS Heat plat. I seem to remember it looking doable but getting 3 stars on all events and all the collectibles made it look like too much of a chore (it was something like that I think)

message 1887: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah that will be a chore. I did the same fairly recently on NFS Payback too. I've got a bit of a system so will try that with Heat. May need a bit of a break and play something else to break it up.

Hi all. Quiet around here of late. Anyone played Deathloop and what do you think of it? The game not having saves mid-level puts me off a little. I think it only saves once you've completed a level.

DeckardCain's Sandals (deckardcainssandals) | 2105 comments Been playing Various Daylife the past few days. If they were trying to come up with a game name that was as dull and uninspiring as possible, you have to say they probably nailed it. Game wise it was fine to begin with but it's becoming as much of a grind as it's title suggests.

I quite liked Deathloop, some of the ways it was being described could put you off but I found it to be a much improved Dishonored only with more of an emphasis on shooting

Thanks Deckard. Yea I read some more about it from gamer reviews and it seems it can be quite difficult until you start to unlock various weapons/abilities. I'll give it a go.

So I finished Iki Island Ghost of Tsushima DLC campaign and it got better towards the end for the last hour or so. Still, compared to the main campaign I found it a half hearted effort by the devs compared to other DLC campaigns I've played in other games. Main campaign 9/10, Iki island 6/10.

Also played quite a bit of MW 2 multiplayer beta on my PS5. Pretty good - good maps and mechanics. More COD. What can you say. I enjoyed it. But my skills are definitely showing their age lol. I had some good games, some flippin awful ones too. I'm going to play the beta on my Series X too and decide where to buy it - main reason as I think PS5 is vastly more popular in europe than XBox and I was always connecting to local low ping servers/gamers on PS5. On series X I think it will be more American servers, and more of a disadvantage. I find on COD Vanguard on my Series X my ping is always around 90ms which is definitely not europe. Although on BF2042 I always connect to european servers.

Not sure what I'm playing next. I'm away on holiday for two weeks soon and by the time I come back I'll have a choice of Deathloop, Scorn and A Plague Tale:Requiem.

Error | 408 comments Hello all,

Played some more Elex recently. That world is really great. It's so interesting how all the factions are intertwined. It's gonna be a slog though. I have 30hr in but struggle to take down mid-level enemies. There are many great weapons out there but my stats are a long way off from being able to use them. Trying to keep this one going...

Then there is Metal: Hellsinger. I had read about this a few months ago and had to try it out. They are calling a rhythm FPS or something like that. It's an old-school shooter (like modern Doom style) where you play as a demon battling out of hell. It's set to a modern metal soundtrack with features from the singers of Children of Bodom, Dark Tranquility, and more. It's actually very good and heavy by video game soundtrack standards. Anyway, you blast demons while battling through various levels of hell. You build a multiplier by firing on time to the beat, gaining strength and also adding layers to the music soundtrack along the way. It's actually quite varied and super fun. Different weapons have different firing tempos, and you eventually carry up to four at a time. The plot is super lame, but the gameplay is great. Highly recommended (and on Gamepass).

Yes. I think my first horde I was annihilated. There are various hordes of various sizes dotted around so I think you can try them out and see how you get on. I remember early in the game there is a small horde near a train wreck on a broken bridge (it's kind a landmark). First time I took on this horde (actually I don't think it was a horde as such, more a collection of Freakers) they absolutely completely destroyed me. Later on in the game with upgraded abilities, an LMG and more molotovs etc I took them out with ease. If I had one piece of advice there is an upgrade collectable you pick up to increase health etc. Whatever you do invest every single upgrade you get into Stamina until it's maxed out and then upgrade health etc. The ability to run without immediately going to low stamina makes a massive difference to the difficulty and enjoyment of the game early on. Early in the game for several hours it can be quite a difficult game until stamina is maxed out. And in terms of hordes - VERY MINOR SPOILER TO FOLLOW - the first compulsory campaign horde is actually quite late on in the game, but you can take on hordes whenever you choose otherwise.
