Also not a fan of rockstar romances, when I need to cover that for SH it'll be tough. Cosplay Killer is a good book though and not a rockstar.

I don't remember this one to well, but I specifically said in my review of The One Thing I Know that the music is more of a backdrop than a true rockstar romance and I enjoyed it for that reason.

I'm not a huge fan of Pandora Pine's writing, but if you are the whole On the Radio series starting with Pillow Talk has microphones.

(Unfortunately none of them are on audio!)

was a bit slow to start but got better as they went 'on the run'.......not as exciting as other books with a similar plot but the relationship between Alex & Ridley more than made up for it

MountainKat | 31593 comments Here is your next task!

Task 24 - 79. Read 6 books that have the same romance trope, teams decide which trope.

As a team select a common romance trope, fake boyfriend, secret baby etc., then read 6 books that use that trope. Please include the selected trope in your completion posts. Remember to let me know how you know your book qualifies, be it precis, tags or lists - I need to know where to look to confirm your books. Include any necessary links or info in your completion posts.

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 4048 comments Completion Post Task 24 ( Read 6 books that have the same romance trope, teams decide which trope.)-Team chose fake boyfriends

Book 1
Say You’ll Be Nine (Say You'll Be Nine, #1) by Lucy Lennox
Say You’ll Be Nine by Lucy Lennox
274 Pages
How it qualifies: "Two stubborn men pretending to be a couple" in precis
Date: 5/2/2021
Rating: 3 Stars
Review: Honestly, I can't really put my finger on why I'm not rating this book higher. It was definitely Lucy's usual fun flirty story, but I think I never really fully connected with the characters. (I also think the fact that Nine initially believed he was straight and was just going to pretend to be gay, basically taking money that should have gone to an actual LGBT person put me in a sour mood from the beginning, even if it was for a good cause). I was able to push past that as it became clear that Nine was never straight and more just didn't know where on the spectrum he fell, and I did really enjoy the two falling in love with each other, but something just keeps holding me back from rating this higher.

Book 2
Three Stupid Weddings by Ann Gallagher
Three Stupid Weddings by Ann Gallagher
160 Pages
How it qualifies; "Fortunately, it’s Dominic Lowe to the rescue. Dom is more than willing to come along to all the weddings as his best friend’s “boyfriend”… even if he’d much rather be there as Vic’s real boyfriend."
Date: 5/3/2021
Rating: 3 Stars
Review: Super sweet fake boyfriend best friend to lovers tale! If you need something sweet and fluffy narrated by the ever fabulous Michael Ferrauiolo this book is a wonderful choice.

In precis
finisehed 3 may
4 stars
Well wasnt this a sweet book to pass a few hours
Im not usually a big fan of fake boyfriends but this one was one of the better ones and Pine Cove sounded a great place to live and everyone was really nice apart from Mac ..but the least said about him the better

Bad Company (Bad in Baltimore, #1) by K.A. Mitchell by K.A. Mitchell
Length: 224 Pages
How it Fits: from precis: Kellan plans the ultimate revenge. Come out as the boyfriend of the man his homophobic father betrayed.
Read: May 2, 2021
Rating: 3 Stars
Review: I know this is a classic, but it didn't live up to the hype for me. I had some issues with the way the plot unfolded, as well as with the relationship between the main characters.

Completion Post, Book 2
Lonely Hearts (Love Lessons #3) by Heidi Cullinan by Heidi Cullinan
Length: 314 Pages
How it Qualifies: tagged as "fake boyfriend" by 2 readers, and "fake relationship" by 2 readers, on page 2
Read: 5/3/2021
Rating: 5 Stars
Review: An absolutely lovely series, even better in audio performed by Iggy Toma. It took awhile to gear up for Baz's story, but I'm glad I finally did it.

Deke by Eden Finley
Pages: 310
How it qualifies: from precis: "A fake boyfriend seems like an easy and quick solution to get my family off my back, and this guy is volunteering. I take him up on it without asking his name."
Completed: 3rd May
Rating: 4.5 stars
Review:
Another awesome reread/relisten! A sports journalist and a hockey player, you would think the drama is inevitable, right?
But no, no real drama. Instead two wonderful characters I adored, banter, chemistry and Lennon's cute sense of humor.
Ollie and Lennon are perfect together! Finding someone who really understands you and who stands up for you like Lennon did for Ollie in this book is something absolutely special.
Loved it!

Trio | 2789 comments there are a couple on that list I've owned and wanted to do for a long time now: Lonely Hearts is super long, and I know it's going to be angsty, but I'm super tempted right now!

Ahhhh..so.its a switch game ( just googled it) thought it was a pack of cards 🤣🤣🤣

message 792: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 4048 comments Lol I did do the cards when I was younger! And actually the first present I ever bought Corey when we started dating was a hard to find expensive Pokemon card. Now we play the phone and switch games

Janeylou | 2974 comments I remeber kids going on about Pikachu...dont remeber any of the other ones 😄😄

message 794: by Trio (new)

Trio | 2789 comments My kids were totally in to that - both boys are huge gamers even today at 25 and 24, I can't believe how much time they spend on their computers/game systems - it blows my mind. But they think I'm nuts with how much time I spend on my Kindle, so I guess it's kind of the same thing lol!

message 795: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 4048 comments Oh yes I encourage Corey's video game addiction because it gives me time to read!

I got him a Charizard card but not the first edition because one of those recently sold for like $200,000!

message 796: by Amanda (new)
