Trio | 2789 comments my pirate team is teasing me about my boring shelf name - I just did 1 pirate challenge so it would be at the top of my shelves 😂

Avast Ye Matey... I'm stumped

message 804: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 4048 comments LOL. Mine was just "Pirates 2021" so I'm sure your team would have something to say about that.

message 805: by Trio (new)

Trio | 2789 comments okay updated my post here & on the Main Thread
it was super long, and very emotional, but I'm really glad I did it :)

MountainKat | 31593 comments Here is your next task!

Task 25 - 80. Read 4 books initially published in different decades.

Books selected for this task need to be initially published in different decades (not necessarily consecutive). Make sure you use the initial publication date. If there is a date listed at the top of the editions page use it, otherwise I will be looking for the earliest dated English language edition regardless of format for the qualification. Please include your chosen decade in your completion post.

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 4048 comments My wedding photographer just got around to posting a blog post for our wedding and it's making me miss it so much! It was also the last time we were able to be around a lot of people as everything shut down like the following week. Can't wait until we can actually do things again, which is huge for a shut in like me lol

Double Bound (Strings Attached, # 2) by Nick Nolan
Double Bound by Nick Nolan
354 Pages
How it qualifies: Published in the 2000's (2008)
Date: 5/5/2021
Rating: 3 Stars
Review: This just wasn't really the right book for me. The writing was actually really well done, if a little purple-y at times, but I honestly liked all the stuff about Arthur's life in the beginning best and it slowly went downhill from there. There's also some language that could definitely be considered transphobic, so overall I probably won't be continuing the series (or going back to read the first one), but it wasn't completely awful.

I feel ya, Amanda! We're all starved for a bath in the crowd together with good friends. Even introverted ones like me.....

BTW: By the Way by Lucy Lennox
Pages: 270
How it qualifies: published in 2020
Completed: 5th May
Rating: 4.5 stars
Review:
I really was unsure of how this could end. The chemistry between James and Sawyer was awesome but how could the author give them their hea with Sawyer's family's legacy on the line? I was afraid that I would dislike James in the end.....
But yeah, there was a solution and I was happy. 😊

I love this hate/love trope. :) The chemistry and struggle for dominance/submission between Royce and Haydn was awesome. I greatly enjoyed reading it although it dragged a bit in the middle.

Amanda (bookoutbelow) | 4048 comments Completion Post Task 26- (Read a minimum of 1200 pages with the sun or the moon on the cover, teams decide which.-Moon)

Book1

Chasing the Chupacabra by Hank Edwards
137 Pages

Date: 5/6/2021
Rating: 4 Stars
Review: Another fun installment in the series! I forgot just how long it takes for Demmy and Cody to get together and in this one their just realizing their feelings for each other, so it's fun to read knowing what's in store for them

Book 2
Earth to Charlie by Justin Olson
Earth to Charlie by Justin Olson
288 Pages
How it qualifies: Moon on cover

Rating: 3.5 Stars
Review: This was a very sweet YA tale about a lonely boy with his head in the stars and what it takes to ground him on earth. It had a great cast of characters and felt very real (even with the aliens). It did feel like some things happened off page that I must’ve missed, but I still truly enjoyed the story.

Book 3
Harvest Moon (Wolf Moon Rising Book 2) by Sam Burns
Harvest Moon by Sam Burns
345 Pages
How it qualifies: Moon on cover
Date: 5/6/2021
Rating: 5 Stars
Review: Oh I think I loved this book even more than the first one, it was almost impossible to put down even for important things like eating; I just wanted to keep reading! Alexis and Ridge were just so sweet and lovely, and yes completely oblivious and dumb at times, but it just made me want them to figure it out all the more. And through this budding relationship Sam and Waverly do what they do best, create a completely intriguing world that you just can’t help but get completely swept up in. I’m loving learning about everything that’s happening and how they’re going to deal with the repercussions. A great romance, an interesting plot? You really couldn’t ask for more! And that teaser of the next book! I want it now!

I'm still confused about this pirate challenge where did you guys find your tasks?

message 840: by Janeylou (new)

Janeylou | 2974 comments Theres a thread for your area with your tasks and then there a thread for histical task ..they all labelled separately

message 841: by Janeylou (new)

Janeylou | 2974 comments Trio, you are Caribbean, so Caribbean team 1 & 2 and all singles will.all have the same tasks ..then they all added up at the end for the winner .
Im finding that the tasks are a bit harder than in nirmal groups initially ..but once you talk about them it becomes easier .
Although tbh even thoigh Brittany said you didnt need to be on a specific mm team its easier to diiscuss books that will work for tasks

You definitely lucked out with your pirates team, Janeylou and Amanda!!
The spirit of a team gets lost. As nice as the teammates might be it's lonely and boring when you can't discuss which books will work for a task.

message 848: by Trio (new)

Honestly I was thinking I would be able to type with my right hand even just a little bit but it's only the second day so I'm going to try to be patient 😇
and maybe my team will turn out to be a super sweet group, I hope
