Review:
It has been quite awhile since I read book 2 in the series, but I felt like the author did a good job reminding what happened previously without using too much space. The danger is ramping up in this book even more, as the walls are thinning between this world and that of the Fae, and if they break then very bad things will happen. I liked the main character, mostly. She is at least pretty funny and has an attitude. I don't really like any of the male characters much, but I'm curious to learn more about them and decide if I like any of them. The world is pretty cool, with dark zones, lots of weird fae wandering, and some interesting characters. I'll continue with the series and hopefully won't take as long.
Eldarwen - sorry I changed my freespace book - I hope that is ok! That one just fit in another challenge AND this one :)Also, I will have Starsight finished by tomorrow.

Ah Barrons... ;-)
No problem whatsoever! :-)
Is anyone amongst you a librarian?Very oddly, the ASIN on Suzanne's "Fayfever" links to an edition without cover of "Dreamfever". Out of curiosity, I checked the kindle edition of "Dreamfever" and that is a different ASIN number, and that actually also links to the correct edition.
It may be something that needs to be remedied.
If none of you are librarians, I'll take it to the Discussion Thread, where someone is bound to be one so they can check this :-)
The Faefever book is correct. A person had added the Dreamfever edition & used the wrong asin, so I've merged that one & found another weird one & merged that as well. LOL

Oooh, that's what it was haha.
People do weird things sometimes ;-)
Thanks! :-)

Review: I'd probably rate this 3.5 stars, but I rounded up because I have many around me who loved it - peer pressure. It's not the book - it's me - I'm just kind of tired of most YA. BUT, the book did have some really good things. First - it had cool aliens - and a whole variety of them! Second - we learn a lot more about why the humans have been trapped by so many years. Third - M-Bot is quite funny and I liked him a lot. There weren't really bad things - I think maybe it just wasn't the right book for me. Oh another good thing - no love triangle! Ok - maybe 4 stars is appropriate :)
Aaaand that's another stamp requested!I'll do my best to finish Six of Crows this weekend so we can request that stamp as well :-)
I like the writing, I like the book so far, but for some reason other books are always shinier hehe.
That can happen!I suspect its partly because you don't want to take that pretty book all over the place with you.

Haha true. It stays safely home. But not just because it's pretty, but because it's a little unwieldy. It's a seriously large book. I did manage to make a decent dent in it this weekend though and am now at that stage where I did not want to stop to go to sleep.
I did also finish another book though - Raybearer - which is quite a good read, in case you'd like to increase your TBRs ;-)
CONGRATULATIONS, Needy to Read! You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'free space' and 'series to finish'.
[Your updated BINGO card can be viewed on page 1]
Good Job!! :D
Just so you know where I'm at: I'm over half-way through Six of Crows. I'm reading it in the evenings when I'm home and during the day I'm reading a book I need for another challenge, which isn't on last week's shelf.Or - correction - which I thought I couldn't use until today a side character (whom I very much dislike) did something interesting and I figured I'd check the book's shelves juuuuust to be sure. And bingo! :-D
1 person was kind enough to tag it "shapeshifter"! (on page 9 of the book's shelves)
Which means I'm also over half-way through my shapeshifter book.
I'll finish both by the end of the weekend latest :-)

To make it official hehe:
Selection for Shapeshifter(s):
Hmm... I may go for the next BDB book as it's been a while since I read one of those.
That would be:
I'll decide for sure once I have my other two books finished and I know what I feel like reading once the weekend hits :-)
I'm doing the same - I'm almost done with Wild Sign then I will see where the mood takes me. There's lots of choices!
I don't like this shelf! LOL! All the books I've managed to find through my library are all wait listed. The shortest wait being 8 weeks.
Wow! 8 weeks?! The shortest? Well... If all else fails, you could always go with the alternative option to reading for that specific shelf?
Copied from the Shelf Announcements thread to make it easier:
Alternative Reader's Choice Options
(Only 2 allowed per person, per round; 1 teammate per shelf)
~ Second Book in a Series
~ Highly Anticipated Q4 (Oct/Nov/Dec) 2020 or Q1 (Jan/Feb/Mar) 2021 Release
~ Book by an Author with D, J or W in first or last name
I think I'm going to read:
which I know I saw on the shelf - I don't remember what page though.I don't read nonfiction often, but this has been on my to-read forever.
Although hmm...I know it isn't PNR or UF, which is technically ok? But I may change my mind again to stay with the spirit of that. :)
You're allowed to read it if its marked with the shelf name. We just prefer PNR/UF/SCI-FI Rom when appropriate.
Thanks Sandra! It's on the linked shelf at least. I'll see how my mood is this afternoon when I have time to start a book.
OK. I had more time to look and I found one. :-)Selection Post

Hehe, I usually try to pick a PNR/UF book as well, even if there are lots of other options on certain shelves. "Born a Crime" is supposed to be really, really good though. Apparently the audio especially since its narrated by Trevor himself, if I'm not mistaken.
Yay, Sunshine! So glad you found something after all that doesn't require you to wait for months hehe.
Yeah I think I'll go for Born a Crime - it just fits into my mood right now :) And then I'll have to return to my shifters :)

I was surprised by how easy to read this was despite the switch in characters, the many, many things that were going on and the fact that it took me a while to realise that some characters operated on a slightly different time line, all of them merging at various points in the story before diverging again.
And I was very surprised, especially towards the end by how very gory the book was at points. I enjoy a nice bloody murder in my crime novels but this was taking the blood to a slightly different level.
All in all, I had fun with the book. Some of the characters could have been more fleshed out but there were lots of convoluted stories and plot lines, something I enjoy.
Nice review! I like how you discovered the shapeshifters tag through reading the book (if I remember correctly from something you said earlier).
Thanks! :-)And yes, that was a total surprise! And it's really just a teeny tiny thing, so didn't expect the tag, but luckily some people are VERY thorough with their tags (I tried, and gave up). Because shapeshifters are not really a thing in this book, for all that it is a fantasy novel.

Crazy stunts, lots of twists, an interesting setting and plot filled with a bunch of nutty characters. It was fun reading this book and I definitely want to see more of these characters and learn more of their personal stories.
It is!! It's got red sprayed edges as well :-DThe second book is just as awesome, with black sprayed edges:

Etched in Bone marks the end of the Lakeside story. The next 2 books are spin offs . I am glad the author returned to Lakeside for the end of the Lakeside story. I missed this setting. I love all the characters Meg, Vlad ( one of my favs), Skippy and of course Simon. Love how all the Lakeside shifters really look after Meg. I will miss these characters …. I recommend this series.

It has been a year since I read the last book and I don't entirely remember everything that had happened in that book, but that's ok because I didn't feel lost in this one. :-)
There is quite a few things happening here. We know Leda joined the Legion of Angels so she can gain the power to find her brother. We learn a nifty new secret here! We also learn a nifty new secret about Nero's mother. This is all possible due to (gasp!) Leda's secret and never-before-heard-of ability of mixing light magic with dark magic.
Progress has happened with wiping out the rogue vampire coven, someone from the past is back in the mix, and, my favorite, Leda and Nero finally get past the flirting and make a commitment! Yay!
As side note, I'm not sure who these 12 people are thinking is the shapeshifter(s)...

This is the second book in the Charley Davidson series. I love this series so far. Charley has a wicked sense of humor , her one-liners are hilarious. The characters are all great , but I think Cookie is my favorite what a hoot. I also love all the dead people floating about. I will definitely read the next book. What a fun series.
