Legion of Angels #4

Dragon's Storm

Rate this book
Leda's quest to gain the magic she needs to save her brother leads her to the castle of the Dragons, home of four soldiers in the Legion of Angels with extraordinary powers over the elements. If she makes it through their training, she might just survive her next sip of the gods' Nectar and level up her magic. But the gods' gifts of magic come at a price. Leda can already feel the Nectar changing her, making her less human--and so is her budding romance with the angel Nero. Sip by sip, kiss by kiss, the change is taking hold of her. As if that's not enough, Leda finds herself once again caught between the armies of heaven and hell--and tempted by a darkness that threatens to consume the Earth.

I’m hooked on the Legion of Angels series. I get to the end of the book and all I want is more, so I pick up the next available title.

Dragon’s Storm is book four in the Legion of Angels series by Ella Summers.

Their where a lot of great developments and surprises in Dragon’s Storm.

Leda is currently at Storm Castle for training on the four elements; earth, air, fire, & water. Despite the fallout with Nero in the last book, he seeks Leda out for help on another mission to find one of the storm dragons who’s gone missing.

These two fight and work well together. I like seeing them on missions and off. In Dragon’s Storm Leda is indecisive on having a relationship with an angel, Nero. Their is a lot of tension between them as they work together. She has to decide if she could accept Nero for who he is, a man and an angel. She also has to realize that she has always acted this way and that the powers she gains, don’t change the person she has become.

We get a little more on the Guardians, but not much. We get to learn more on Nero’s mother and Leda’s brother Zane. Lots of surprise throughout this book and at the end we have BIG surprise that will shock.

This series packs a punch. I love the action and romance. Like getting hit with surprises in each book, going on a mission, and gaining more powers. Urban Fantasy fans will enjoy!

To sum up this book in one emotion
description

Is it just me, or is this series getting better and better. Like what?!!! Not that I'm complaining about it. It's not everyday that you find a good book, not to mention a good series. I'm so happy right now, you can't even imagine. The two main characters finally did it! And thank God or Gods for it. As I mentioned in my last review for the previous book in this series, if these two didn't finally get it on I was going to quit. It took them four books to get to the point where, at least to my opinion, they shuld've been in the first or at least the second book. But all is forgiven. I'm happy they are finally making next steps in their relationship. And as for the plot and the rest of the characters, I loved it. Everything fit and it ws just awesome. And I'm now on to the next book because I really can't get enough of this seires.

For me this whole series is a 5 star series.

I head a lot of good thing about this book. The series was recommended to me many times (#cakeeaters thank you). I never picked it up, because I was scared that I won't like a well loved series. But I finally did, because I put it in a clear your tbr challenge and it was called.

I started the first book Vampire's legion last sunday, when the number was drawn and I only stoped once to finish another challenge but otherwise I read the whole series in only seven days! I really binged it.

I loved Leda and her lovely chaotic ways. She really got things done, even if the Angels thought that her ways were inappropriate. But she always thought out of the box and her actions lead to results.
Nero is a good counterpart. He gives her stability, rules and has her back. But he also knows how to bend the rules properly. Which leads to creative rule bending Leda styled.

The series was so much fun. I rarely read a series that long, where I wanted to have the next book like yesterday. The audiobooks are good too. I like the narrator. Most of the time I read and listened to the series changing from ebook to audiobook and back.

Five stars recommendation!

Heads up: I'll just copy this review into all the other books of the series. Also most of the audiobooks (one to eight) were free on audible at the end of 2023. For the first four book there is one audiobook available, but it's not free on audible.

I have literally just finished the book and am feeling really hyped up/excited right now. I have not even ordered my thoughts properly about it yet but I needed to/HAD to say how amazing this book was.
It's perfectly situated in the series, the balance of plot and character development is spot on, it's so damn funny (so many gigglesnort moments) and I LOVE the growing friendship between Leda and Basanti. Finally, Nero. Wow. Nero... So freaking amazing. I don't want to say any more in case I spoil things.
She's thrown in some curve balls. Introduced new subplots for the future books in the series. Brought in new characters.
But more than all that, Ella has given me a rollercoaster of emotions. So many feels I can't cope and have overloaded. I would happily give this book more than 5 stars.

You can't put this book down!

I'm completely addicted to this series and every book somehow gets better. The relationships, the romance, the action and mystery all blend together to make a perfect story. If you've been wanting more Leda and Nero, you will be very pleased with this one. I can't wait to read what happens next.

Fairing by my review of the last book, and my reading of this book...

MY PREDICTIONS ARE COMING ALIVE

Did I ever tell y’all I’m like 90% positive I was half seer in my last life?

Which begs the question:
When will ivy and drake declare their love? Because Leda and Colonel Hardass finally did and I am swooning.

But no worries they weren’t the only ones getting it on. Apparently, half the class did in that damn castle. Must be something in the air.

SO ANYWAY.
We are revealed pertinent information of Momma Lightbringer or whatever her name is and Zane.
We know there are Guardians.
They seem a little strict tbh so who is the good guy here?
Some leveling up occurs.
Hanky panky time.
Action and adventure.

All the good stuff and all of the yummy stuff.
I am loving this series. Just waiting to see if I’m right about the rest.

Harker coming back was sort of a surprise... ish? I knew it was bound to happen.

Onto the next book!

Thank you Sharon J for recommending this book to me. This was a fantastic read. In this installment, The Legion is training Leda and the trainees for Dragon's Storm, the fourth sip of nectar and the ability to do Elemental magic. As always, there is drama, suspense, and action. I loved the friendship between Captain Basanti Somerset and Leda. Also, my favourite part of the story was when Leda and Nero. They are amazing together, and they are as amazing as individual characters. I love reading about their missions and banter. The story also had a plot twist at the end, which I was not expecting. I wonder where the series will go from here. Overall, an amazing read.

Leda is gaining power in her ascent to full angel, much to the consternation of several entities, and to the delight of Nero, her mentor/boyfriend. With every drop of the magical nectar that each angel takes as they move up in the ranks their strength grows if they survive the nectar. On Leda’s search for her brother, she is led to the castle of the Dragons, and in turn more perilous territory and preparation. Though she has Nero at her side, the darkness calls to her, and it is an unexpected balance that helps her push through to help save the Earth, and humanity as it is.

If this book were epic fantasy then Leda would be the prophesized hero. The story of the fourth book served as a vessel to extrapolate on the concept of light and dark magic, in order for the reader to understand why Leda is so special. It kind of reminds me of the light and the dark side and bringing balance to the force (before that concept was butchered in the last Jedi).

And only because I find this concept so interesting, did I give this book three stars. Because the story itself, starting with Leda's elemental training and leading to the rescue of one of the dragons, isn't all that interesting. There is an epilogue of sorts, consisting of the last two chapters, that shows Nero’s mom and Leda’s brother, Zane. This epilogue was more interesting than most of the book. Which is also why I will continue reading this series, though I am the first to admit that while an amusing pastime the legion of angels is nowhere the same level as the Kate Daniels novels by Ilona Andrews.

Leda is having issues with the changes she thinks she's making in her life. She isn't sure if Nero and her should be together, but she also can't seem to stay away from him either. And it doesn't help that she's having other issues as well. But when it gets close to time for her to take the last dose of Nector things get even more crazy in her life.

This book was really good! I was a little frustrate with Leda because of some choices she made, but eventually that got sorted out. I am a little nervous about the relationship between Nero and Leda, I'm worried that he may be forced to marry someone else, but I hope that doesn't happen.

Overall this book was just as good as previous books, but it had a lot more to do with Leda's romantic relationship than the previous books, and I adored that. Now, I can't wait for more.

I love this!!!!

What is Leda??? Who are her parents??? i have a few suspicions but my heads all over the place with different scenarios....

Each book Nero gets more and more human while Leda slowly loses a little of her humanity, i truly think they are each others soul mates and anchor.

Was an amazing read as Leda has to learn to harness the elements before her next promotion, all while facing down the foe.

Dragon's Storm is, I believe a level 4 magic that the members of the Legion are training to pass at Storm Castle. It is the ability to control the elements and there are four dragons representing the elements. The competition between Jace and Leda is especially noticeable in this situation as each of the trainees are allowed a mentor, and Jace's just happens to be his big sister who is just as hard ass as her father. While they train, everything seems so hopeless and you wonder if they are ever going to gain the needed abilities to pass the promotion ceremony, but when push comes to shove, the abilities are there. At least that seems to be the case with Leda.

Despite a falling out, Nero seeks out Leda to help him on a mission to find one of the storm dragons who has gone missing. They think she may have gone to the dark side, but need to find her to be sure. The tension between the two and the indecision Leda is dealing with started to grate on me, but the action the two get into breaks it up enough that you tend to forget the romantic parts until we break into a scene. Leda and Nero fight well together and are a great match. We just need the First Angel to see that as a benefit.

We learn more about Nero's mother and Leda's brother Zane, who she's been searching for. It is a surprise! Definitely something new to be investigated in upcoming books!

This series packs both the action and the romance I love to read in my Urban Fantasy books. They straddle that border between PNR and UF just nicely and I feel satisfied on both fronts when I listen. I'm so excited for the next books to find out how relationships continue in the Legion with the shake up it takes during Dragon's Storm!

I've been burning through these audios like crazy. As fast as I can get my hands on them. Cris Dukehart does not disappoint in this series at all. I feel like she really has a grasp on Leda and her personality, as well as the conflicted, stoic soldier of Nero. Her narration of the books totally immerses me in the story and has me hanging on her every word.

Leda is struggling to come to terms with her status. She wants to become an angel to gain the powers to help find and save her brother, but struggles with the stark contrast between humans and angels. Nero tries to find a way to let her adjust, but is also struggling to understand how anything can work between them if Leda can’t accept him as an angel herself.

Leda was whiny in ways I wasn’t expecting. I wasn’t thrilled with her hypocritical views of angels and humans, but the ending more than made up for her drama llama conversations. She circled around somewhat, and I’m hoping Leda sees the light, so to speak , in the next book. The action was quick, but the conversations between Leda and Nero are probably some of my favorite bits. Her sass and his straight laced views are highly entertaining. Nero is even budging a teensy bit on the whole follow the rule thing...

Not my favorite in the series, but a good read nonetheless. I have really enjoyed seeing Leda's powers increasing in every book as she levels up in the Legion. This book is level 4...all about controlling the elements. Not quite as much action as the previous books, but lots of character development. Leda and Nero's relationship is still steamy as ever...even though he is continually sent away from her by the First Angel, he always finds his way back! And we continue to learn about his past with his mother and father. Also some interesting developments with the Guardians who have only briefly been mentioned so far. Leda makes for a great heroine with her stubborn, independent nature, and I look forward to much more of her story! This series is like peeling an onion layer by layer...so much more yet to be revealed!

It took me awhile to pick this back up, but man am I glad I did. I really enjoyed it. I am so glad Nero and Leda finally slept together because the freaking g tension between them was getting off the charts. We also get Harker back, and he ends up taking Colonel Fireswift's spot. I am not sure how I feel about this yet. We also got a chapter from Nero's moms perspective, and learn that she is the one that took Zane. Zane also contacts Leda, and everything seems to be going in their favor for now. I will be continuing the series, but not sure when yet.

Don't know the final destination but enjoying the ride

Actually I have suspicions but authors can be tricky. The main characters are compelling as are the secondary characters. The action is fast. The world interesting.

Looking forward to the next book.

Finally!

Leda and Nero finally get some time together. Even if it is to save the world, both are great at multitasking and they can figure out where they are going. Leda is having to deal with the fact she is not human and is more like Nero than she thinks. Nero is so patient with her and although he is possessive, he loves her very much. This was probably my favorite part of the series so far.

3.5 stars. Enjoyed the plot getting more complex and the dialogue/banter less predictable. I enjoyed more characters coming the fore. I was disappointed with how Leda and Nero came together. It felt like she sort of just decided to overcome her mental barrier (oh I’m an angel now) and then the “mischief” was managed. There was a more or less fade to black lovemaking session between her and Nero after that. I guess after 4 books I was expecting a little more description? More build up? Maybe that’s not the kind of book this is, but I find it hard not to find the same shortcoming with the overall scene setting and action scenes. For example, i find myself picturing the characters in a scene a certain way my head and then all a sudden the characters aren’t in the car at all, they are in the mouth of a big cave, fighting monsters that have suddenly emerged out of a mysterious hole the author never described was there to begin with.

I have never been this confused, constantly frustrated, as when I read these books. For example, in the opening scene of the books, I pictured Leda running to the magical wall after her Vampire (her mark named Mark). I pictured a barren wasteland, a string-western style town with tumble weeds—houses far apart and a large, imposing wall with guards atop it and nothing around it. Then all of a sudden the author describes Leda grabbing clothes off a clothes line and wrapping them around a rock to clobber the vamp. Then she grabs a shutter off a house (wtf?) and impales the vamp. It’s frustrating being mentally “in” scene and having to rearrange things to fit something the author dumps into the scene. It happens constantly with this book, not the least with when Leda and Nero finally get busy.

It’s a credit to the series that I want to persevere bc I understand it gets better (and it has so far, incrementally).
