Lark is kick-ass! She breaks the rules to save those that need it, even knowing that they can't see beyond their own Elemental family. She goes against the Mother Goddess and refuses to be a pawn. This book is the end of this arc but there's so much more of a bigger picture to be read.
Now, I'm having quite the dilemma! I have already read the Rylee Adamson series. So far in this series, it's been all about how Lark got to be named the Destroyer and how she got to the point where we find her in the RA series. The next book, #5, takes place after the RA series ends. Do I reread the RA series now that I have a better understanding of even the minor characters between the two series??? But it's 10 books! I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DOOOOOO!

This was a surprisingly quick read. It was interesting to venture into the Grishaverse at a time before the events of "Six of Crows", with a different cast. The Darkling had me fooled for sure. But then, everyone in this book seems to have ulterior motives in practically everything they do. Everybody seems to be wearing a sort of mask and nobody seems to be honest, sometimes not even with themselves. It's one of the things that definitely makes me curious about the other two books in the trilogy.

I'll decide today sometime :)

I'll do a completion post soon as I get settled for the Alpha-Male

Amelia & Justin were childhood friends. The friendship ended badly and a decade or so later, Amelia's grandmother passes away and leaves her summer house to these two. They both show up to use the house at the same time and there was a LOT of the roomHATE going on. More so on Justin's side. It takes a few chapters to get into why there is this animosity and while I understand, it still seemed a little overkill to me. I did enjoy how it wasn't an instant reconnection, even when they finally talk about what happened. They rebuilt their friendship before they pursued something deeper.

I started this last Wednesday night after I chose a different book for alpha-male from the list - then towards the end of this one, I thought "This male is pretty alpha" and sure enough - it was tagged! I have enjoyed all the Tessa Dare books I have read, and I especially like the ones with humor. I zoomed through this book - I just couldn't put it down. This book focuses on Lady Penelope, who appears as a friend in the the first two books of the series. She lives with an ancient servant and a TON of animals, including a hedgehog, a goat, a steer, a parrot, a two-legged dog, many kittens, etc. The "Duke of Ruin" buys the house next door to use as an investment property, and so he wants all the animals to go and Penelope to stay (her presence raises the property value). There were SO many funny scenes in this, and I loved it.

I almost went with historical fiction as my first selection for alpha male as well as I enjoy Lisa Kleypas' novels and they often feature alpha males (as well as females hehe) and a lot of snark and usually pretty well done drama.

I've been itching to finally pick this up, and I've been anxiously waiting for shelf call so I can finally take my book and go read in bed hehe. It has not been a very productive reading day, so I'm hoping to catch up a little with some quiet time now. :-)
I used the time wisely though and trawled the book's shelves to see what it might work for hahaha.

The is the 7th book in the Harry Dresden series and another good installment. Poor Harry, keeps getting in deep with necromancers, zombies and other evil creatures. Polka never dies !!! Sue was awesome, Butters is cool and I love Thomas. Murphy wasn't much in this one, hope she is in the next one... Definitely will keep reading.

Wow - it has gone so quickly!

Good Job!! :D

We're missing our Kick-Ass Heroine stamp on our card, by the way.
Not that it really matters since the game is practically over but just thought I'd let you know :-) (Since you regularly pop into threads)

Are you Suuuure you want to start this book first? Have you read the Elemental Series yet? LOL! :-D

Because I've got like 20 pages left in this one haha.

Which I enjoyed a lot btw! Writing my review in a bit for a completion post :-) The second book is already in my shopping basket for "soon to be bought" hehe.

This was good fun. A little something different for me, or it felt that way anyway. I loved all the various supernaturals that popped up here and I liked Rylee. She's strong and yet completely vulnerable, and she seems to have a definite thing for strays, which makes her even more likeable.
I'm looking forward to reading the next book and see how the series continues, especially considering the end of this one. Important decisions to be made! As well as of course the next problem already lined up.

If you don't mind finishing up your books for the last shelf call so the mod ladies can use them for their Bingo stats, that would be great, thanks! :-)
