Hiya, Team Caps! Thanks for volunteering to guide your team through a round of BookShelf Bingo! Your job, should you choose to accept it, will require a few things:
1 ~ Be our go-to person should we have any questions about your team
2 ~ Organize your teammate's weekly reads for each shelf/category so that the BSB Ninjas can quickly and easily verify and approve your stamp request(s)
2a ~ Create a master list in a post (preferably on the first page of your team's thread) and update it weekly or as often as necessary
2b ~ Post your team's stats on the Captain's Log prior to requesting a stamp
3 ~ Encourage and motivate your team (you may also ask to borrow Judithe's whip whenever necessary)

5 ~ Send us a PM (Steph, Sandra or Judithe) should you need us for any reason throughout the game
Hellooo everyone!! Greetings from Belgium. I hope everyone is doing okay and staying healthy!
I'm so excited to play bingo again (and yes, I can't believe I said that) haha.
Oh and I'm happy to volunteer as Team Captain (unless there is someone who really wants to do it of course).
The Russian Cage and Kingdom of Shadow and Light came out today! I'm already trying to figure out which shelves they work for and hoping one gets called tomorrow!
Melissa wrote: "The Russian Cage and Kingdom of Shadow and Light came out today! I'm already trying to figure out which shelves they work for and hoping one gets called tomorrow!"Nice! Hope you find them on a shell in the list, and if not you can always use one of them as your Alternative Reader's Choice :-)
Oh, might be a good idea to start thinking about our team name!
Some suggestions:
Six Little Secrets
The Sixth Victim
Chapter 6
Six of Hearts
Six of Crows
Sixth Grave on the Edge
Empress (tarot - major arcana nr 6)
Hello all! Glad to be back... this will be my second Bookshelf Bingo, so not quite a rookie. I am fine with Victoria being captain and like the names. Another could be Watch Your Six.
I just sent a quick message to Marisa, in case she missed the group assignment :)I'm fine with whatever name our team picks, I leave that in your hands :D
Oh and please also let me know what you will read for your 'Free Space'!

Hi! Sorry! We had a family emergency, so I've been MIA for a few days. My sister-in-law was found unresponsive/not breathing Monday night/early Tuesday. They're not sure how long she was without oxygen before my brother-in-law started chest compressions. EMTs arrived quickly but the scans don't look good and she's unable to breathe without the ventilator. The prognosis is dire, all we can do is wait and see now. It's so crazy ... she's only 37 and they just had a baby - he turned one at the end of November. You can never tell how much time you have. I like both "Watch your Six" (sounds like something Eli would say to Jane) and "Six of Crows" (I haven't read it but the title reminds me of the Morrigan - who I totally crush on).
If I had to pick between the two, I'd probably choose "Watch your Six" because Jane Yellowrock is my favorite and I grew up in the military, so it reminds me of family.
I'll figure out my books next.

Review:
Sigh, reading this series gives me such satisfaction, they are just so gooooooood! If I have to pinpoint what makes them special... apart from being urban fantasy, filled to the brim with different kinds of magic, hot men and a kick-ass heroine who won't go down quietly? I guess I'd have to say the humour and the fact that is just suberbly written :)
Worldbuilding:
We encountered a form of magic that we hadn't seen much (or at all) before: Demonica. People able to summon and control demons. And what an introduction it was, it sure as hell spiced up things around the Crow and Hammer (in a pretty violent and deadly way).
As always, all scenes and environments were clear and well detailed. We knew where we were, what we were looking at and whom we were running away from (running through a crowd, is NOT easy!).
Character development:
Things get rough, in a very bad way :( and Tori has some difficult decisions to make. She has grown a lot in the past instalments and being an official part of the Crow and Hammer fits her perfectly, but where does she go from there? Oh, and Sabrina's tarot cards really love Tori haha.
Aaron, Kai and Ezra... I wish I had best friends like that *sigh*. Loved how we got a lot more insight into one of them and their bond with each other.
The interaction between them all is just so very well written!
Even with all the magic, all the characters in the book feel real and believable, okay, sometimes a bit over the top, but we all know at least one of those in real life :D
Pacing and flow:
From start to finish you are glued to the book, don't even try to put it down. I read it in one go and it felt over in a heartbeat (without feeling rushed). Great balance between all the action and conversations. Strap yourselves in, it's quite a ride!
The book:
The book itself was well written with no (noticeable) errors. There was no sex described (if that is important to you).
The book is 314 pages long, spread over 24 chapters and told from Tori's point of view.
Final thoughts:
I kinda already said it at the start, the author's books are just amazing. I thoroughly enjoy every one of them (yes yes, devoured is maybe a more appropriate word, I know). I cannot recommend these books enough!
Oh and as the series is already complete, I know which book is next and yay, we met Robin!!! I just can't wait to start on that one!
Victoria wrote: "Sigh, reading this series gives me such satisfaction, they are just so gooooooood!"^^^ This is one of the many things that I love about this game! People being excited about books which leads to me adding to my TBR!

Review: I very much looked forward to reading the second entry in the Charley Davidson series - so happy it fit this week's shelf! You can imagine my consternation when the beginning chapters didn't grab me like the first book did. I could not figure out why, either. The humor was top notch and the groundwork being laid for Charley's new case(s) was intriguing. Reyes was as confounding as ever. But I kept ending chapters and wandering off to read something else or even, gasp, do household chores. What was happening??? Today I sat down determined to either get absorbed or officially cut bait and choose something else. Chapters 5 & 6 were well written but felt too much like finishing an assignment. I decided to give it one more chapter...
That was a great decision! I finally sank into the story and experienced the same magic as I did when I inhaled book one. (view spoiler) Thinking reflectively about the story, there was a lot going on, but it felt balanced and reasonable while I was reading it. I really enjoyed the return of fave characters as well as the introduction of some

Review: Wow!! Archangel's Sun was...everything. This book deals with the aftermath of the atrocities and hardships of the last two books, specifically, cleaning up the reborn that have been unleashed on the world. A particularly virulent strain is infecting Africa and Titus needs all the support he can get in the clean up efforts - unfortunately, all of the Archangels are dealing with their own territories. Coupled with the massive losses of mortals, vampires, and angels alike, a severe shortage of help leaves the Hummingbird as the Cadre's choice to support Titus.
Titus. A man who understands strong women thanks to his mother and four older sisters is flabbergasted at the idea of having to stretch his already thin resources to babysit the Hummingbird who he knows to be a fragile symbol of angelic goodness...not anyone he would have ever asked to help in his current efforts. Imagine his consternation when the Hummingbird arrives and immediately refuses to fit in the neat little box he expected. Titus is used to control but this little wisp of a woman keeps subverting his expectations. Sharine, as she now wishes to be known, is so much more than he could have imagined and watching his confusion turn to aggravation then support and finally delight in her emerging strengths was amazing.
Sharine. A woman with a past that is riddled with pain is finally coming into her own. She loves her son fiercely and uses this as her motivation to leave the fractured mind that was once her salvation. She wants to be an angel that he can be proud of. Surprised at being asked to help in Africa, she nevertheless intends to give it her all. It is soon made clear to her that nobody in Titus's court actually expects her to be helpful, although many are thrilled with her presence. They expect her to create her art and continue to be a symbol rather than a practical help. Sharine soon makes it clear that she is not prepared to follow along with the planned script that Titus is expecting her to follow. Watching her take control of her own agency is beautiful.
Nalini Singh is a master writer - there were so many lines I found myself rereading. Sometimes I was amazed at how my expectations were subverted between one sentence and the next. Other times I just marveled at the how a string of words could so perfectly fit one of the characters or the situation. This book was the equivalent of a luscious carton of ice cream, I couldn't stop taking in one bite after another; luxuriating in each bite until I was scraping the carton clean.
I don't know how many readers of the Guild Hunters series would have put Titus and the Hummingbird together; it was not a pairing I imagined. Now I can't imagine it any differently - this title is up there with my favorites in the series. It may be my absolute favorite of them all, but time will tell. I know I am drifting in a beautiful post-book haze and may not be 100% fair to the other books at this point.

Review
I haven't read a Kate Daniels book in some time (there was a book in the series that diminshed my interest in them, and I had been reluctant to get another), and I've jumped directly in the new situation of the family (because that's what they are). It's packed of action, as usually, and familiar conficts, as usual too. There's a maturity in the characters, however, and it looks like they have removed a weight that was over them. I've liked the introduction of new types of beings and enjoyed the neighboorhood life.
I've enjoyed the book a lot (it's evidenced by my eye bags;) ), but I'm not sure I'm going to read the books I've not read in the series.

Archangel's Heart is next on my TBR. I started the series during the last round of Bingo and I've been trying to pace myself so I don't burn through her books too quickly. After reading your review, I can't wait to get to # 13. Titus has definitely piqued my interest over the last few books so I'm looking forward to reading his story.
