Eva (bookworm_eve) DNF for House of Glass by Susan Fletcher by Susan Fletcher.
A mystery, set in an old house during the early 1900's.
Disliked the MC a bit too much....

Hollywood's Golden Age Mysteries #11. Title says it all, another entry in the series ( Greta Garbo, Bette Davis, etc.). Liked this one a lot, lots of witty banter and an interesting plot. 4 stars, recommended.

I started and finished Nothing But Blackened Teeth today. I preordered it in January and was so excited to read this book and for me it totally tanked. I have to say I wasn't at all happy.

Ron (ronb626) | 3418 comments Just finished The Man With The Getaway Face (Parker, #2) by Richard Stark The Man With The Getaway Face by Richard Stark, a Parker novel.

Read a few of these Parker novels a few years ago. While my tastes have change since then, it still was an enjoyable read after getting into the book a bit. For me, it started slow and finished very interesting. These novels are crime novels and Parker is a career criminal. Albeit with a couple of caveats. Parker has scruples. It's not that he won't kill, but, does it only when he deems it necessary. Which, of course, is more often than you or I would, but, still less than his contemporaries. I will read more of this series.

Next up, back to The Expanse series with Babylon's Ashes (The Expanse, #6) by James S.A. Corey Babylon's Ashes by James S.A. Corey. I'm really liking this series and still think the books are better than the TV series.

'A Taste For Poison' is a compendium of eleven well-known poisons, familiar to fans of mystery fiction as well as true crime aficionados. For each substance, Bradbury describes its provenance, how it works, and its use by a killer.

Interesting (and kind of fun). 3.5 stars

Araych | 676 comments The Crossing Places The Crossing Places (Ruth Galloway, #1) by Elly Griffiths by Elly Griffiths

First book in the Ruth Galloway series. I like the way Griffiths writes and I'm a big fan of her Magic Men series but this one is a bit weaker. I liked the character Nelson the detective but he and his fellow cops are idiots. A whole bunch of stuff gets missed that shouldn't but still, it's very entertaining and I'll continue with the series. 3 stars.

It's enjoyable, in part because the authors show respect but are not adverse to some irreverence. It's a quick read, too, but I don't know that I'd suggest bingeing.

Eva (bookworm_eve) Finished Revival this morning and... meh... :(

The writing is, as always, amazing. But the story itself just wasn't doing anything for me really. There were definitely the classic King-moments where you sit on the edge of your seat and NOT wanting to know what comes next, but I have read books of his that had those moments a lot more... and scarier. I enjoyed reading it, but it dragged on a bit at times where I was just waiting and witing and waiting for that next shocking moment.

The ending was good, but also a bit of an anti-climax.

Giving it 3 stars:

Let's put it this way: my husband tells people that if the Library of Congress can't find a book, they call me. Every room in my home has bookshelves lining walls and completely filled (with some in stacks on the floor in my office) except my husband's office & the 4 bathrooms (although if I could figure out a way to make that happen, I probably would.
