Dawn Michelle | 3485 comments The past few years I have set my goal low and had to change it over and over [which is totally fine and I have never had a problem with that]. So this year I have decided to "go big or go home" [though not really you know] and set it at 200 250 300. I have made all my lists out for the challenges I am participating in and have also created for myself and it is extremely overambitious and who knows if I will complete it all [and as of right now {12.28.2020}, I am totally okay with that]. I DO know that it has few library books on it so it means I will be getting a LOT of books off both my TBR and my RWYO. WHOOOO HOOOOOO.

Oooh Sherlock every month! That's a good way to tackle the catalog! I own the huge compendium of Sherlock from Audible narrated by Stephen Fry so that might be a feasible idea!

I will admit that is why I am doing this - I too have this audiobook and when I realized a lot of the stories were short, I figured I could knock them out in a year [for the first part of the book anyway] and not be too overwhelmed. :-) And knowing that I have Stephen Fry to look forward to each month..WINNER WINNER IMO. ;-)

I know I thought it would be fascinating when I added it all those years ago. I am looking forward to getting to it.

I have been around them my whole life [my mother is a huge fan], but have never taken the time to read them. I am hoping the Stephen Fry audio makes them super enjoyable. I am afraid my view is skewed by the show and Benedict as Sherlock. Gosh I loved that show.
Here's to hoping they are as good as people say! :-)

It is easy when they are all teeny books. ;-)

OMG I cannot even imagine getting to visit the former Soviet Union. I think I would have been shaking in my boots the whole time. And not just from the cold! ;-) Did you like it? What was the most memorable thing you saw? I am intrigued by Russian history!!

My ex's family is from Estonia and he remembers going there once before they gained their independence back from Russia and he said it was super weird and creepy and uncomfortable. They always said they'd have never gone back if Estonia hadn't gotten their independence; there was just so much fear.

Connie | 318 comments It was pretty weird, 1973 right in the middle of the Cold War. We were young and invincible but still noticed the immense lack of freedom for the Russian people. It was SO cold, we waited outside the Pushkin Museum in sub zero temps for it seemed hours and never got to go in. The Hermitage and Saint Basil's Cathedral were memorable. We also stood in a line in Red Square to view Lenin's entombed body! That was a trip! No talking or acting like American teenagers in THAT line, let me tell you!!

* I owned book #2 for a long time without realizing it was a series and finally got this one 8 years later. This is why the date added is out of sync with the rest of the books.

** I started this, disliked the narrator and then realized that it was "Christian" fiction and I am just not in the mood for that right now. It is a DNF and I have removed it from my TBR
