lol, could you imagine using a 1000 page book on a level 1 sword?
Alex wrote: "Go to the library and check out like 10 sub-200 page books specifically for this challenge."For that purpose, I made a shelf of short books I wanted to read anyway.
Zee wrote: "I was going to put it towards a level 2 staff which is almost as bad!"ouch!
Those big ones needs to be put in bag for higher levels :)
Zee wrote: "I was going to put it towards a level 2 staff which is almost as bad!"I know, it is. I'd save it. I was going to do that same thing then I was like, okay we need to plan a little better. :P

Even if the war scenes are slow moving like molasses. Why can't it be War Scenes like Gardens of the Moon or Song of fire and ice?"How far did you get? Austerlitz (1805) or Borodino (1812)?
I'm currently in book 3 chapter 10. I marked it that last time but I think I picked it up. I'm at the 25% mark of it.

Heh, I was planning on saving those for sword leveling later on :)
So you're before Austerlitz. Just hold on. Napoleon will appear soon and the battle itself (and Prince Andrei's part in it) is quite exciting.
Zuzana wrote: "So you're before Austerlitz. Just hold on. Napoleon will appear soon and the battle itself (and Prince Andrei's part in it) is quite exciting."I will pick it up, again. The book will not beat me. I've finished a quarter of it. It's too late to just leave it. :P
I have always wondered in the cartoon Rocky and Bullwinkle if they picked the name of the Russian characters from the book, Natasha and Boris.
I don't think so, Boris is only a minor character in the book. It seems to me that they picked the most common (and easily recognizable) Russian names.
Does The Academy quest use any books? Wonder if my books read for buddy read and reading a recommended book need to go here or just the completion these two tasks is enough and the actual books can be used elsewhere.
Alex wrote: "Does The Academy quest use any books? Wonder if my books read for buddy read and reading a recommended book need to go here or just the completion these two tasks is enough and the actual books can..."Kelly said it was a participation challenge. You don't need to use any books.
EDIT: She even added it to the challenge description: "Note: Books used in these tasks are still available to be applied towards other tasks. These are participation tasks."
So you can save your books for other quests. :)

Ugghh, I tried to get through Count of Monte Christo on Audible book and just couldn't.

Read both books. They were great. Don't know if I'd want to do War and Peace again.
I just saw Lady Rachel's performance. Feeling very inferior now and wondering what on earth I could possibly do to even come close to meeting the standard that Rachel has set.

Well, found the word "love" now this book is completely usel..."M. C. Beaton has written a 31 book Mystery series starring Hamish Macbeth. I'm re reading them to level up my staff. They are almost all under 200 pages and fun to read. The BBC TV Show starring Robert Carlyle was great.
For more short books Listopia has books under 200 pages. Some really good classics.

Reva wrote: "Sure could use the books tied up in academy challenges. I could kill a lot of rats with them."*pokes Reva* You did read the answer to Alex's question right? Academy is participation only and the books are available to be used elsewhere.
*whispers to the rats* Run away!
Yes Kelly. I just wasn't sure about the books used for the other challenges in #4 and #5.Ok rats I'm baaaack.
Reva wrote: "I just saw Lady Rachel's performance. I read 62 books. It's insane and nobody should read that much, ever! (unless it's their job.) I work long hours with some of my clients and am able to read for a good part of while I'm there. I did it for other challenges. I will never do that again.
It just happens that this challenge was around during then. Any other time I read about 20 books a month.

Kelly, who's side are you on? Instead you should give us sickly and dying sewer rats to defeat. :P
Rachel I was complimenting you on your very creative theatre performance. -- not the number of books that you read.
Heh. Kill those rats while they're fresh. They may become extinct at some point in the future.I'm enjoying this feeling of being a God...
Reva wrote: "Rachel I was complimenting you on your very creative theatre performance. -- not the number of books that you read."Ah, sorry. I didn't know what to write about. I had no clue. Then I thought what did they do for entertainment for that time period, juggling. I didn't know that's where it would lead. It was going to write about a reptile show and it turned to this.
Rachael, it reminded me of the acts they have at the renaissance fair here :) There's quite a few crazy juggling shows. We saw a whip show last year too.
I am thinking of doing specialized quests for each person :P I'll check with everyone first. And *shudders* I'll let Tea do mine.
Reva wrote: "Will my previous submission count or do you want some more?"Previous quest submission? And count towards what? :)
Kelly wrote: "I am thinking of doing specialized quests for each person :P I'll check with everyone first. And *shudders* I'll let Tea do mine."
Wow, specialised quests sounds interesting, looking forward to seeing those :)
I suggest Kelly's quest is to finish the three volume almost 3500 page Remembrance of Things Past by Marcel Proust in a month or Tea gains sole control of the game :)I don't know why I suggest this, Kelly has not wronged me in any way.

Ouch...
That would be an interesting quest. Read Remembrance of Things Past in a month and you can ride on the dragon into battle.
