Wise to stay at home and take it easy Rusalka. I hope it feels better soon! My second book is going much faster than I anticipated. I already read half of it yesterday. Don't think I can do that much today though. I'm working from home so no train-reading-time, and tonight two of my favourite tv-series are on.
So when you say that you read the first few pages of The Fault in Our Stars and now your done, did that mean you couldn't put it down until you'd finished it, or that you threw the book across the room? Just curious. And if the boss is texting and saying "take another day", take him up on it. Stay home and heal!
I might be finished another book tonight. We shall see. I had a rip snorting headache last night. I used to get migraines when I was younger and I was a bit concerned I'd be having another, but it abated with a Tylenol. Now, I've waken with another. It could be all this concentrated reading.
Janice, maybe you need to break up the reading with more audio books. And Rusalka, I agree completely about backs/spines and eyes being scary. One scary thing about back injuries is that you can aggravate them so easily, and then you are in really bad shape. So take it easy. I finished my other book for bonus points, so I will head over to the reporting section next.
Both books that I've finished have been audiobooks, and one of the two I'm currently reading for the toppler is an audiobook. Thing is, I play puzzle games on my iPad while I'm listening, so that doesn't ease up on my eyes. In fact, they may be the problem.
Excessive video-game play always gives me headaches, particularly the morning after. I also play puzzle games.
Rusalka wrote: "I thought after my last post I'd just read the first couple of pages of The Fault in Our Stars to see what it was like. It's now done."It was a great book, wasn't it?! I'm not a crier during books, but this one did make me tear up a little. And the movie, had me bawling! I don't know why I cry so much easier in movies than I do reading books.

Under the Skin will fit for

Island
Reading: new-to-me author
Gene R & Majel M: sci-fi
Bella & Edward: horror
Robin Hood & Maid Marion: fantasy (?)
Almeta & Kermit: human and other life form
The Enchanted Castle will work for
Reading: new-to-me author
Adam & Eve: Fairy tale (it seems like a fairytale to me)
Romeo & Juliet: YA
Daniel Craig & Connie: Magical Realism
Rick B & Ilsa L: Classic
Robin Hood & Maid Marion: fantasy
I finished my second book :) I'm not sure yet what my third one will be, and whether I'll be able to finish it before the end of the week, but I'll give it a try.
KimeyDiann, I've read The Enchanted Castle. It's fantasy or YA or classic or new-to-you author, but I think calling it magical realism would be a real stretch.
You are probably right Casceil, I don't really know what all constitutes magical realism. It is a realistic seeming world and magic happens. LOL!
Casceil wrote: "Excessive video-game play always gives me headaches, particularly the morning after. I also play puzzle games."I play Fitz (match 3 game) and Nanograms, both are hard on my eyes. If I play them too long, my eyes take a long time to focus. Same thing happens when I read print for about an hour. Last night, I listened to The Marian (and played) for about 5 hours. So I shouldn't be surprised. Headaches seem to be gone now.
struggling to find a fit for a book i want to read am going to go with The Body of Jonah Boyd i think it might fit with forbidden love or humour
I have about 70 pages left in The Daughter of Time so I should get it finished tomorrow. I am going to call it a night now. Happy reading Divas!

Yeah... I decided that. I felt lazy and cautious, but better to be safe and not sit in my shithouse desk chair at work. SO more reading today!

No penalties this time. Go for it!

Let us know what Jmom rules. If she allows forbidden love due to marriage (and there looks like there may be some small class issues), that looks like a good fit. But her category, so we'll let her make the call. Looks like it may have a mystery bent to it too.
I enjoyed my second book so much, that as soon as I finished my third book I picked up the sequel to the second book. I'm reading Showdown in Mudbug. These books are part of a series called the "ghost-in-law" mysteries, and are marketed as mystery/romance. Obviously, a ghost is an important character. So this could be plugged in in any of several places.

Oh hello. We got there.
I finished my third book - The Martian. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it. It fits in Gene Roddenbury, Science Fiction. I'm off to the reporting thread.
Rus! I found a crime thriller! Bonnie and Clyde Clyde likes the cover - he's meowing enthusiastically!
" One night after interviewing a reluctant witness at a London apartment complex, Lacey Flint, a young detective constable, stumbles onto a woman brutally stabbed just moments before in the building’s darkened parking lot. Within twenty-four hours a reporter receives an anonymous letter that points out alarming similarities between the murder and Jack the Ripper’s first murder—a letter that calls out Lacey by name. If it’s real, and they have a killer bent on re-creating London’s bloody past, history shows they have just five days until the next attempt."
I'm going to attempt to finish The Reincarnationist. It will fit as "Shaggy and Scooby Doo – Read a murder mystery". I should be able to finish it.

Ooo let us know how you like that one. It's on my insane tbr.

Of course I will! I've read the first 25 pages - gonna be a long night reading! I am reading as I'm typing - can't put it down!
I finished my Scooby Doo book: Celebrity in Death and I've started reading a Claire and Jamie Fraser time-jumping book: The Perfume Collector. I hope to finish it Wednesday night. Then I'm going to try to read a book for Bella and Edward, as I have one I got for review that fits the category.

So started Hide and Seek. This will fit murder or crime or island. Going to go back to work tomorrow and going to the Theatre with my Mum tomorrow night, so less reading time. But hoping I can finish this before the end of the week and knock out another one. But no promises.

janxmon sais The Body of Jonah Boyd will work for forbidden love
I finished my second last night, The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Promise for Shaggy and Scooby (mystery). Reported over in the other thread.I am going to start Talulla Rising for Buffy and Angel (read a book with vampires of werewolves).
I met a colleague on the train this morning and unfortunately had to talk instead of read, so I haven't started my third book yet. I'm not sure what to go for on the way back home! A book that I have to read, a book that I really want to read, or a book that is short?
I think I'll go for The Housekeeper and the Professor, which fits:
-Set on an island (if we can count Japan as an island)
-Reading (new author)
-Clubbing (another ppn TBR)
Perhaps also Role Playing (the main character is a brilliant math professor, so he might be geeky), and maybe even more but I won't know until I read it.
I should finish listening to The Enchanted Castle on my commute in the morning. I will hopefully finish Under the Skin tonight. I should be able to fit in a third book!

Backs worry me, so it was a good plan. It's still twingey every now and then. My boss texted me and to take tomorrow off if I need. Hopefully I'll be okay, but like I said ... backs/spines and eyes. They freak me out. Too much neuroscience and neuropsych at uni I figure.
