Has anyone else noticed changes made to our yearly challenges?

The layout looks horrendous. The grid format seems to have disappeared and I can't see challenges of friends anymore - nor comments.

It seems Goodreads is determined to eliminate the social aspect of the site.

Just had a look Rowan, you're correct, that's definitely horrendous!!!!

Every time they make an "improvement" it makes it worse for us, the reader.

I'll never bother going to look again, if that's what its going to be. What a waste of time & energy.

Yes I noticed. Also something has happened at the same time, where my recorded book total isn't adding on. In what they've done, it is, but where it needs to show in a group I'm in, it hasn't changed for a few books now :(

And that has fixed itself overnight!!!

I agree the layout is awful. I also noticed there's no longer a link to this year's or past year's challenges from profile pages.

But I saw in my feed a friend had finished her challenge. I clicked on it and it was the old layout which I could like and comment.

I've had that happen few times in a group book count, but it always eventually catches up, so I don't pay any attention to it now! There are so many glitches creeping into GR now!

You're not wrong! It shows on my profile that I haven't been active since October! That's a known bug but it's ridiculous!!

With regards to the "haven't been active since October (in my case)" I was advised to log out of all devices then log in again. It worked! So there's a work around for all who are having the same issue :)

I'm getting (I think) most notifications under the bell, but a problem new to me is that I can't rate or post a review of Coraline, a popular children's book by Neil Gaiman.

I started trying yesterday, but nothing's changed. I get this pop-up message as soon as I try to edit a review:

"This book has temporary limitations on submitting ratings and reviews. This may be because we've detected unusual behavior that doesn't follow our review guidelines."

Is this what's others were talking about when they said they can't post reviews? I haven't got another review ready to go, so I don't know if it's just this book, or me, or a system overload.

Thanks, Brenda, I think you're right that it's because of the extremely unsavoury accusations about him that I've just seen. I did notice a couple of reviews of his books that said simply he's scum, etc.

It certainly appears that Goodreads has blocked access to his reviews presumably because too many people were going there to write unpleasant things about him and not about his books. I was actually unaware of his situation until now. I wonder how long they wait before they restore access.

My books read list in my 2025 Challenge is a bit strange. It says I've read a book without a cover and 'author not available' - I have no idea what that could be! I'll have to try and see if something is missing.

Also that I've read One Dark Night by Anna Faversham in 2025. I have read it but several years ago! However, I am currently reading One Dark Night by Hannah Richell, although haven't added it on Goodreads yet.

I'm not happy that Goodreads is somehow making its own assumptions in adding these to my 'read' list without my input.

I have one of those as well, I keep deleting it but it keeps coming back I don't know what they are doing:(

I've had those too, and yes, delete them from your list. The best I can work out is they appear when your kindle is connected to the internet (for download or whatever) and somehow random books appear in our read lists. I don't know if I'm right, but it seems to fit that scenario!

Hopefully it is just a new glitch and will sort itself! I only connect my kindle to the internet when I down load a book so that must be when it's happening! Just one more thing to get annoyed about ...☹️

Mine is normal at the moment Rowan. Notifications are as unreliable as usual but the rest seems okay.

Phrynne, it says on your profile you were last active in January. That's a known bug.

You need to log out of all devices you use for GR. That should fix that problem, and hopefully the notifications.

I logged out of both my devices today and now it says "last active this month" instead of January. I also seem to be getting my notifications as well.
