What have you added to your collection recently?

Such a great series.
Loving simonson's Thor omnibus as well. The vibrant colour touch ups are amazing. Beautiful book and fantastic storylines.

Sorry, today I am feeling lazy to do any googling :)

I'm on vacation and walked into a toy store. What did I find? Captain America omnibus V1 by Brubaker for $85!!!
Were you asking about the condition Alistair? It is near mint. I'm pretty sure it has been read once but I couldn't find anything wrong with it.
Just purchased Absolute Transmet 2 and the Daredevil Companion Omnibus.
Just purchased Absolute Transmet 2 and the Daredevil Companion Omnibus.

Anyway I have added Absolute Batman & Robin, Absolute Batman Inc. to my collection.
Also ordered Sleeper Omnibus :)
Looking forward to add Daredevil Frank Miller Omnibus to the collection. I like this more than Daredevil Fran Miller omnibus

Ha ha, no it's what we sometimes say when something is great, but i was also interested to know about it's quality :D
@Frank. Looked to me like some of it is available elsewhere. I'm probably going to pass on it. I'm not that big of a fan to have buy numerous disconnected issues.
LOL. I guess I'm showing my lack of street cred. I told my wife and she laughed at me.

Blindzider: I got Alistair's meaning, but in fairness, I don't recall hearing it said aloud... unless I was watching the BBC or suffink. Iss a British think, innit?... Not that there's anything wrong with that. :-)

I haven't planned on picking this one up. I like omnibus editions because I can read a long stretch of issues and get the bigger story at once. To me this book defeats that typical benefit by having a bunch of stories thrown together about different characters. I will be buying the next Bryne omnibus as it is essentially West Coast Avengers omnibus vol 3.

@ Blindzider, LOL!!

I have a question on where a good place to get news on upcoming editions, special editions for various publishers. I just saw Preacher absolute edition pre-order I may get that but I am unsure if prices drop after released.
Welcome Dustin! We are a little partial to this group when it comes to new releases. Relstuart does a nice job of compiling release dates and titles from various sources. Check out the "Upcoming" threads for each publisher.
You are most likely interested in the Marvel Omnibus and Masterworks HCs and the DC Absolutes and Deluxe editions. You've already discovered the Dark Horse Library editions.
If you have any other questions feel free to post a question.

Welcome. :) We do try to keep folks updated here on upcoming collections in oversized editions. I collect info from solicit releases posted on Newsarama, Facebook, Hachette catalogs, and occasional Amazon early postings (where they post an item up for pre-order though no earlier solicit info was released).
There are sometimes some good deals to be had from pre-ordering. Many times books from DC and Marvel are half off release week from Instocktrades.com. Since you are in Canada I'm not sure if your shipping costs offset the good deal for US folks or not. Perhaps we have another Canadian with their advise on the best places to buy from?
I did enjoy the Sandman Absolutes. I have the first four which have a complete story. There is a fifth volume with other material but I have not purchased/read that one yet.

Just to stick my two cents in here, I joined this group about 10 months ago. At that time I hadn't picked up a comic for decades, since then I have received so much education from all here, that I can say that I am not a novice any longer. Collecting omni's, Absolute's OHC's and Library Editions has been a real pleasure. There is so much out there to enjoy. Stick to reading all the discussion topics and ask questions, and you won't regret it.

FYI: Marvel is liquidating much of their X-Men collected editions. Primarily TPB and Premiere HCs but there are a few OHCs.

On my list to read is Mark Waid's Irredeemable and I've been wanting the Definitive version for the larger size. However, I'm concerned they won't be doing a second volume, because it has been quite a while since the first.
I just noticed that they have come out with some new "Premier" deluxe oversized hardcovers and V2 is coming out next May. I think I may switch to getting these instead, unless someone has heard something about another definitive reprint and second volume.
EDIT: Hmm...after a little research I see the Premier V1 only covers issues 1-8! That seems like a rip-off.

The Iredeemable Premier hardcovers are in oversize format. Volume 2 comes out in May and volume 3 comes out in December (per Amazon). I bought the slipcased vol 1 years ago (2011) and have been waiting to finish the story all this time. Very interesting, basically a what if superman went crazy and started killing people story. I'm planning on picking up the second OHC in May. :)

I absolutely love those books i've got volume 1. I tried to buy the TPBs, but even they are either out of stock or over priced. I've seen vol.7 for $90!

Thanks for the heads up. I've been wanting to pick up some more TPBs for awhile.
Later today on IST we should see:

04/12/16 - Batman Europa HC
04/12/16 - Thanos: Infinity Finale OHC
04/12/16 - Captain America Masterworks vol 8
And from Image we will have the second Descender TPB. Which I will pick up. :)

I'm definitely in for GL. Hopefully it lives up to the first two. I'll pick up Irredeemable HC as well.
I'd like to read Europa and see Lee's art, but 4 issues doesn't seem worth it. Is it oversized?

Batman Europa has a few artists and the art is supposed to be pretty good but story just ok. It appears to be standard size.
I'll be picking up Green Lantern as well and share your hopes it's as good as the first two. I did enjoy both the first two omnibus volumes.

Lantern City HC Vol. 1
Absolute Batman & Robin Boy Wonder
Batman Gothic HC
Ultimate Invincible HC Vol. 7
Absolute Transmetroplitan Vol. 2
Daredevil Companion Miller Omnibus
Superman HC Vol. 1 Before truth
Wonder Woman Earth One Vol. 1 HC
X-Men Apocalypse Omnibus
Have to order that GL Vol. 3.
Those are some solid pick up. I have Locke and Key Masterwork vol 2 waiting to be read. Good pick up on The Long Halloween Absolute.
Nice haul Frank. I hadn't heard about the Lantern City book before but I like the art inside I saw on Google images. I'll add it to my wishlist on IST. :)
Descender TPB 2 looks like it was bumped and we'll see it in a week or two.

Well, I'm in on Lantern City as well. Beautiful art and written partially by Paul Jenkins is enough for me to try it.
I was given a Parker Martini Edition as a gift, but it was slightly damaged so I'm returning it and will hopefully be buying a new one in a few days.

On another note, I see you put out a DD reading list.
Can someone give me a rundown on Punisher.
Thanks.

They don't have any older stuff out there for Punisher in oversize collections yet. I've been advocating for some time the Jim Lee run should get an omnibus. They recently announced a complete/epic collection of that material.
There is a out of print (and expensive) Ennis Punisher Maxx omnibus and a Jason Aaron Punisher Maxx omnibus. The Maxx universe is over the top and not connected to the regular universe. The price to page count is high on the Aaron omnibus but I enjoyed the story. I believe the Ennis material is also available in OHC those are also out of print and expensive. Most folks are waiting and hoping for a reprint that want the Ennis omnibus.
The only 616 Punisher omnibus is the Rick Remender run. I enjoyed it but Remender did some crazy stuff (killed Frank and brought him back as Frankencastle).

I only have the Aaron one. It's pretty straightforward to get into without having the other one. :)

The bad news is the omnibus of Ennis's run is OOP and it costs an arm and leg. Marvel though started putting out Ennis's complete run in paperback Complete collections (vol1 and 2 are out now collecting till 30 issues of the run, and if I am not wrong then it should have 2 more), so I hope (actually wishing it on a falling star) the next step for them will be a reprint of Punisher Omnibus. I can not push this book enough, if you do not find (or waiting for an OHC/omnibus like me) a print copy then I will suggest go to comixology and just buy it for the sake of reading now itself (yes it is that good!).
I have not read any other canon Punisher stuff, and frankly the Goodreads rating of some of them are damn discouraging. But, if somebody else here can recommend some run that will be great too.
It's been awhile since I read it but the original 1986 series by Grant/Zeck was pretty good, but I'm not sure how it holds up over time. I know there was a standard sized HC but I'm sure that is long OOP.
I too liked the Jim Lee issues, the JRJR issues on Punisher War Zone were good as well. Both of these probably benefited from the excellent artists. It was at this point in time when the Punisher had been overexposed and series and one-shots started to disappear. There was no Punisher for a long time until Marvel Knights which led to Ennis' run.
I read Ennis' initial Punisher arc (the one the movie is partially based off of) but had a hard time with Dillon's art and never continued.

I added 35 books to my library today. None of them were graphic novels though. Local library book sale usually has some good finds. :)

Recent purchases arrived or just ordered :
-Wonder Woman : Earth One
- Manhatan project vol 6 TP
- X-Men Age of Apocalypse Omnibus reprint
- X-Men Age of Apocalypse Companion Omnibus.
- Uncanny X-Men complete collection by Matt Fraction TP vol 1-3.
- X-Men second coming TP.

Got some nice ones there, picked up some of them myself, enjoy.

I confirm, Wonder Woman : Earth one is a tale that needed not to be told. It's the first bad Earth One graphic novel I read. The Superman and Batman ones are however really good in my view.
