AUGUST 2020: Post Your TBR & Progress Updates!

Putting a placeholder here for my TBR which is probably gonna be WAAAAAY too ambitious, lmao. I'm thinking about giving myself an additional challenge in August and alternating review copies between one upcoming release and one overdue release. 👀
I don't have any reviewer copies, so here's just a TBR list of books I really want to read! The Girl With All the Gifts by M.R. Carey
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
(Audio)
Impulse Reads:
(Audio) Brightwood
Furyborn
And more if I can finish those first!
Good luck to all and I look forward to reading everyone's reviews!
I don't have all the time to post my whole ARC TBR but let's just say my Netgalley score needs helping. I have at least 44 books I need to get to on there and then that doesn't include tours I've signed up for! I'm hoping I'll get through quite a few! But to start with TBR wise:
The House Swap by Rebecca Fleet
Trust No One by Anthony Mosawi
Stalker by Lisa Stone
Your Closest Friend by Karen Perry
Do Not Disturb by Claire Douglas
So If I complete those 5 I'll probably add more in :)
OH this is perfect, I have so many to get through! Here's the ones I want to get through:
Akin
and bonus points to myself if I also get through:
The Confession
The Breeding Season
The Girl in the Mirror
The Inner Self: The joy of discovering who we really are
Breasts and Eggs
I have two ARC's for August!Firefrost by Camille Longley
From Fire & Shadows by J. F. Baptista
I'm hoping to get to both but we'll see since I'm currently rereading The Folk of the Air trilogy :)
For August, I think I'll just try to finish my library haul (plus The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes)-
- My Calamity Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows
- Well Met by Jen DeLuca
- Only Mostly Devastated by Sophie Gonzales
-
- The King of Crows by Libba Bray
-
- The Stranger by Harlan Coben
-
-
-
- Girls Save the World in This One by Ash Parsons
There's no way I'll get to all of them, but I'll try!
I actually mostly have my arcs under control and haven't really been requesting any, so all I have is: The Midnight Library
Tome Toppler:
Copycat:
Other TBR:
City of Stairs
Spin the Dawn
Love this theme! I have so many outstanding ARCs and it's a goal of mine to (finally) hit 80% by the end of the year on Netgalley. So this is the perfect motivation!✦ - Late

A friend and I have been reading The Weird: A Compendium of Strange and Dark Stories... it's a huge book, over 100 stories, and we're only 50% through after about a year! Anyway, I would also like to read at least the next four stories in August, which would be stories by Michael Shea, William Gibson/John Shirley, M. John Harrison, and Joanna Russ.
Good luck to everyone on the August TBR's!!!!

etc. etc. (we'll see ;))
Hi! I want to try to finish
Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte .
I’m about 45% done so far.
My tbr is :
Midnight sun - Stephanie Meyer.
Hopefully if I’m feeling better I’ll try to pick up a few more 💕
So every month is a crackdown on ARCs for me (or at least that's what I attempt). I actually have a couple of non-ARCs that I really want to get to this month as well. I think I'll add my mood reading to the list as I read them as well. A lot of these will hopefully be audio review copies!
Review copies TBR
Olive
Loveless
The Tea Dragon Tapestry
Clown in a Cornfield
Glass Town Wars
Non-ARC TBR
Wolf By Wolf
My Dark Vanessa
Books read in August
Less than a week to go and I'll have to admit I did not do well on this challenge. I also don't see me excelling at the next one, but I guess I could earn an I participated! medal nonetheless :Darcs
⫸ The Exit Strategy -done: although I appreciate and acknowledge the important topics Lainey underlined in her work, I feel let down nonetheless.
⫸ Sleeping Together - done: very mixed feelings about this
⫸ Valkyrie Landing - done: liked the futuristic take on norse mythology but wasn't blown away by the package
books from previous tbrs
⫸ Silverthorn] - done: I definitely liked this a lot but maybe not quite as much as the first two instalments.
⫸ Stalking Jack the Ripper
⫸ Ashes of Midnight
⫸ The Hating Game
⫸ Little Fires Everywhere
I have an enormous ARC tbr, but I'm not focusing on those much right now because they're stressing me out. Instead these are the books I'm considering for August, in between mood reads of course!: AUGUST TBR:

Okay, so I’ve barely read anything this year. I’m still working on The Fiery Cross that I’ve been reading since January. That’s the goal. I was deemed an essential worker (cashier at a grocery store) so I had no time to read. Also hit a huge reading slump before all of this hit. I’ve been able to manage a couple pages here and there but took forever to put a dent. I only have about 100 pages left but let’s face it. I might not get that done. But I will try!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is soo late, but here's my August TBR! I don't review ARCs, so I'm mostly just using this month to catch up on books I've been wanting to read forever, but haven't gotten around to! 1.
2. Lovely War (Currently reading @ page 175)
3. Beartown
4. Know My Name
5. A Sky Painted Gold
I'll be adding to this as my mood changes!
I don't really have any ARCs (only one right now), so I'm mainly going to focus on the oldest books on my TBR.ARC/for Review

Halfway through my TBR for this month already! :D Thankfully, so far they're either been pretty short, or I've read them fast. Given I'll be pretty busy this month, it's nice to know I can slow down a bit on reading now.

WAY TO GO!!!!! That's awesome!
WAY TO GO!!!!! That's awesome!
My reading has been TRASH this month so my update will probably be very small by the time it's said and done, lol
I am a bit of a mood reader, but I definitely plan on reading:Rereading City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare
So far I've managed 4 of my 'must read' 5; I picked up the 5th but I'm just so NOT in the mood for it right now! So I think that might be it for me this month!

Want to participate in Avid August? You're in the right place!
Simply post your TBR here! (If you'd rather not make a TBR, just write down books as you begin them. Mood reading is a-okay, too!
For the sake of efficiency, I've decided to merge these two threads this month! Now, when you progress in your TBR, you can update your original comment, add a comment stating your progress, or preferably, BOTH! Whether you've just started a new read, finished a book, or just want to share some thoughts, have at it!
If you'd like to update your original TBR comment as you progress, you can strike through the titles, add (READ) to the line, or whatever else you like. Feel free to add more to your TBR as the month progresses!
