Silje (sikna) | 1443 comments How is it going, everyone?

90 minutes to the deadline for round 1. Are anyone still reading and hoping to get it done before then, or are everyone finished for this round?

message 252: by Logan (new)

Logan (loganturner) | 1643 comments I just logged off work and have a little left on my book. I am trying to finish before the deadline but if we don’t need it that’s fine too.

Ashleigh | 735 comments All books that have been marked as read on planning spreadsheet are now added to main ss. If you have finished a book and not updated the planning ss, could you let us know ideally in the next 45 minutes so we can add it before end of the round?

Halli | 500 comments I know I'm not going to finish my book by the end of this round. It's such slow going and I'm thinking about throwing in the towel on this one. I may give it one more chance, but I know I'm holding us up just because I can't get into the Throne of Glass series this time. SO WEIRD because I loved it last time I read it!! :(

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2326 comments @Silje, BTW, I have all of the hardback books in this trio and they are gorgeous! I read the first book over 3 years ago...huge mistake since my memory is so awful! But I am determined to read book 3 sooner. Hopefully within a month.

The two first books are my least favorite books in the series, I think it becomes easier to read from book 3 and onward=)

Tara | 225 comments I'm not going to get the book I'm currently reading finished for this round. Luckily it'll work on the next word, so I'll move it on the spreadsheet.

message 263: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 735 comments All checked in for round one, great job everyone!

message 264: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 735 comments Any books that you've started that you didn't complete in time, can be used for round 2 so don't give up on them haha!

On our planning sheet, we have a round 2 sheet and Silje is currently moving any unfinished books from round 1 onto there.

message 265: by Silje (last edited Jun 26, 2020 02:17PM) (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1443 comments Rajiv, I've removed Last Girls from the planning sheet. It doesn't fit any letter in the new word in round 2 unless there is a character who fits. If that is the case just add the book back onto the sheet.

Edit: Same goes for Nameless Queen.

Silje (sikna) | 1443 comments We're already off to a good start! Our new word doesn't have that many difficult letters, but I've noticed that Y might become challenging. Keep an eye out for characters with Y-names or title/author/series starting with Y. A tip is to go snooping on the other teams' spreadsheet and see which books they read for the letter Y;) You can find all the spreadsheets on the master sheet in one of the first posts. There you can also see the status of the challenge=)

Kim | 68 comments @silje checking the other spreadsheets is so smart!

Silje (sikna) | 1443 comments I've marked tasks used in round 2 with red on the task tab, in order to be able to see which tasks are used for which round. I ask that you don't make changes to the tasks already marked for round 1 (blue), as they are "locked" and we need to keep an overview over which tasks have been used and not by each person=) One of the other teams lost points because a player had used the same task twice.

message 275: by Silje (last edited Jun 28, 2020 01:04PM) (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1443 comments Kim, I chose task 135, one-word title, for Pretties, let me know if you want to switch it to 163, #2 in series. I also moved it to Y, as the main character is named Tally Youngblood=)

message 276: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1443 comments Vicki, you've used the narrator for Heidi's Guide to Four Letter Words. Did you listen to the audio? We can't use the narrator (or translator for that matter) unless it was the audio (or translation) used. I just ask because you've placed the Kindle version on your shelf, not the audio=)

It was a bit funny, I noticed it right after I wrote the post about needing Y-books=P

Halli | 500 comments Question - I’m reading One Day in December (the audiobook) and planning to use the narrator’s name for the challenge... but the audiobook version says it’s only 10 pages. It’s about 10.5 hours of listening. So which edition should I use for my read book?

message 282: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 735 comments I think if you read an audiobook, you use the default edition so that's usually the edition that comes at top of the list when you look at other editions.

Hey, I don't know how to shelve anything with different challenges! To be honest, I 95% of the time both read Kindle and listen to the audio, sometimes together and sometimes switching off. For Heidi's Guide I used both Kindle and the audio version, which is on Audible Escape and I purchased the Kindle version.

Also, Heidi's Guide to Four Letter Words by Tara Sivec shows 2 authors, with Andi Arndt being the 2nd one and the narrator. It shows her as a 2nd author and the narrator on Amazon too. https://www.amazon.com/Heidis-Guide-F...

The Bachelor requires we use the first Kindle version so that's probably why I put it there. I am getting confused on how to move forward. I normally read only the physical copy or Kindle without audio if it's not available. I use Scribd, Audible Escape, buy 24 credits annually, and I also have my personal library and use Libby.

So, going forward, do I need to somehow put that I've used audio in this thread or what? I haven't put any narrators' names unless I used audio.

Thank you, and I'm sorry if it appeared that I wasn't adding my tasks. I sometimes put the books in with all the info I have and then later decide which books to use for what. I'm fine with where you placed those two. :)

Halli | 500 comments How many questions do we need to answer for the BOM? & is it too late for me to do it for Five Feet Apart? I didn't even realize it was a BOM when I started reading it.

Silje (sikna) | 1443 comments Ashleigh wrote: "I think if you read an audiobook, you use the default edition so that's usually the edition that comes at top of the list when you look at other editions."

I think you can shelf the audiobook edition (we have to use that one for cover tasks), but we use the page number from the default version. At least that is what I usually do=)

Yes, it can get confusing. I think that if we shelf the edition we read (or read/listen to the most), we're good. Since the use of the narrator as a reason is dependent on having listened to the audio, we need a message here or a note on the sheet if you have used audio but shelved another version (such as when you both listen and read). The same goes for using the translator.

I did realize though, that I most likely read the wrong line in the sheet for reason on that book (I'm pretty sure I read N: Elizabeth (Knowelden) and not Andi Arndt) and commented based on that, so if my comment confused you even more I'm very sorry!

You have to answer at least three sets of questions (DQs) for it to give points. The BOM stays open after the read-along, so answering the questions now isn't a problem=)

I believe the MODs had a more clever design on it, but something went wrong in the formula, so it is a simpler way of counting, but it works=)
