Ashleigh | 735 comments Wow, we have quite a few books completed already. Great job guys!

I'll start adding books to the main spreadsheet today in the same place we have them in the planning sheet and then we can move them around later if need be.

message 152: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 735 comments Sophie - I've put your book down for MPG Fantasy on the tasks. Let me know if you want to change it to another task.

message 153: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 735 comments Okay, actually I'll put the books in the same letter they're on on the planning sheet, but I'll move them around to complete words and then I'll move them around on the planning one too.

Silje (sikna) | 1443 comments @rajiv, I noticed that you'd marked The Mystwick School of Musicraft as tagged with Lavender, but I couldn't find that book on the list for Lavender here. Nor could I find lavender on the book's shelf list when I double-checked. Are you sure it was the correct book or tag/shelf? I've removed the tag from the planning sheet.

Silje (sikna) | 1443 comments If anybody wants more, or more specific, book recommendations from our team or any of the other teams, feel free to ask here or in the other team-threads. There are eleven tasks regarding reading recommended books after all=)

Hi Silje! Oh, I don't think it had any tags on it with "Lavender" term. I added it because the colors in the cover had Lavender color on them? =) It's ok to remove the tag if it doesn't fit

Rajiv (rajivsreviews) | 66 comments Ok, silly question, but now that we have finished a few books, I was just checking the "Member Info" sheet in the planning spreadsheet, and noticed some formulas added to the Round 1 field. Would it be auto populated or will we be updating it? =)

The five words, flower, lavender, France, space, and battle are just important regarding tags (shelves), nothing else. I've added the links to the specific book lists on the planning sheet too, but they're already posted in one of the top posts here. If you read a book on one of these lists, you can mark the tag, but if a book isn't on the list you just skip the tag-column when adding your book to the spreadsheet.

It is supposed to update automatically, but it looks like there might be an error in the formula. I've notified the MODs.

Vicki (goodreadscomboobooper49) | 2326 comments Do we have a countdown clock to the end of this round? If not, can we possibly get one in this thread?

message 162: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 735 comments I'll see if there's one in any of the other threads and link it in here if possible.

I haven't seen one yet, but I'm guessing one will show up when we are getting closer to the end of the round. Each round lasts for 14 days, so I suppose the end of round one will be on the 26th of June.

Apparently someone had noticed this before and changed it themselves. The MODs haven't informed of us on how to fix it, as these numbers aren't really important for the challenge itself, they are more fun fact for those interested. I have, however, changed the formula for round 1 books (only on the planning sheet, not the team sheet), so that you can see number of books read and the percentage compared to how many books you signed up with. I will have to change the formula for new every round, so right now it is only the numbers for round 1 that are correct.

Sophie | 182 comments This might be an odd question but do we have to rate a book to get points for it? I've been thinking of experimenting with not rating most books I read for a while but I feel like I've done a past challenge for this community where we had to rate stuff for the book to count.

Okay, that's clear enough! I sometimes get confused with all the various times, whether you can/can't start a book prior to the start of the challenge as long as you don't finish it, and so forth. I love countdown clocks. :)

No, you don't have to write a review or anything. Just as long as it's on your shelf as read and the dates are within the challenge time

We've taken a short stop from riding our motorbikes to send you some recommendations from our team. Take a look to see what books we recommend to you guys!

If you do happen to read one of the books, we'd love you to drop by and share your thoughts with the team.

Recommendations from Motorcycle Diaries!

Happy travelling!

Ashleigh | 735 comments How's everyone getting on with their books? Does everyone understand the challenge/rules or need help with anything?

message 177: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1443 comments Does anybody here use Scribd for audiobooks or ebooks? They have this function that if you read too many books on their app, they suddenly make over half of your saved books temporarily unavailable until next month. I never got a good answer as to why they had started doing this, just something about agreements with publishers/authors, rotation of library, etc.

My point is that I've been listening to a series on Scribd, and from one book to the next, the series was unavailable (luckily the BOM-book is still available!) So I've started a reread of the Throne of Glass-series while waiting, after seeing both that both Halli and Kim was reading it for this challenge=) I've started at book four though=P

message 178: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 735 comments Yeah I use Scribd and it's one of my issues with the service! It seems they do this for everyone. So frustrating! But I only ever have that problem with audiobooks.

Yes, me too, I don't really read that many ebooks on Scribd=)

message 180: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1443 comments @Vicki, can you add "Sorry I Missed You" to your Wheel-shelf?=)

message 181: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1443 comments @rajiv, can you switch edition of "You Should See Me in a Crown" to the one you read on your shelf? You have shelved hardcover, but based on your page number on the planning sheet, you have read the kindle version?

message 182: by Megan (new)

Megan (meganraex) | 1031 comments I've never used Scribd but that sounds pretty mean that they limit you like that! Especially for a service you pay for!

I'm 70% through my first book :)

Thanks for noticing Silje =) It was the kindle edition. I have changed the review edition in my review.

message 184: by Tara (new)

Tara | 225 comments I use Scribd. I'm relatively new to it, I joined when my library closed down. This month is the first month they've limited me. But I've also been walking a lot so I've been reading a lot more audiobooks. I also have a habit of reading a book on paper and audio at the same time - so when I'm in the car I can still read my book. It is very frustrating to me, I pay for this service I don't want to be limited. But I knew they did this when I signed up so it's not like it was a big surprise.

I've finished my first book and got about 15% through my second book yesterday.

message 185: by Silje (new)

Silje (sikna) | 1443 comments They didn't do it when I first started using Scribd, but perhaps their library had fewer books then and wasn't that up to date. I listen whenever I walk with the dog or drive to work, so I get to listen to a few audiobooks a month, but I try to use different apps to avoid Scribd limiting me. I also tend to read the paper version at the same time when I can=P That said, Scribd is the cheapest audiobook app I have tried so far; others are more expensive but don't necessarily have a better selection.

message 186: by Maritza (new)

Maritza (spanishwhispers) | 2241 comments Hi guys. I think I got a free trial of Scribd once but did not end up using it. I don't really like audio books as I like to read and go back and forth in books. Have been reading a lot on kindle and Libby but have always preferred a book to feel, touch and ear tag.

message 187: by Ashleigh (new)

Ashleigh | 735 comments I've become kinda reliant on audiobooks because I'm struggling to focus on reading physical or ebooks right now. Audiobooks help me feel like I'm not completely slumping haha.

message 188: by [deleted user] (new)

I have been using Scribd along with Audible Escape and Overdrive for audio books. Yes, Scribd does limit you at some point. The more popular books you read, the more they limit you. I haven't been limited in a few months, but I only tend to use it when I can't get the audio book from Audible Escape or Overdrive :)

I also prefer Scribd for audio books, also driving to and from work! Audible is too much for just 1 credit per month; i can usually do a few per month.

Sammy (sammystarbuck) | 12860 comments Hello there globe trotters!

Having just finished The Art of Fielding (a book I can heartily recommend!), I am left in the mood for more sports-themed books, so have come to see if any of you have any recommendations in the genre.
Just to be clear, I'm not looking for a trashy romance that happens to have a sports backdrop (you know the kind I mean...), but the kind that has a sport at its heart. (any sport, I'm open to learning about new ones! lol)

Thanks in advance!

Sammy - Team HP

@Navi - I have read some interesting nonfiction and two of my favorites are Bellevue: Three Centuries of Medicine and Mayhem at America's Most Storied Hospital by David M. Oshinsky as well as Unmentionable: The Victorian Lady's Guide to Sex, Marriage, and Manners by Therese Oneill
