Whoops 😬 Adding it now!

message 452: by [[ Frankie ]] (new)

[[ Frankie ]] (freedbyfiction) | 524 comments I added the link to my shelf under “how it fits” in my completion post. Sorry I missed that at first, Cyndee!

message 453: by [deleted user] (new)

No worries at all! If I wasn't tracking, I'm sure I'd have done the same thing!!

message 454: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 32105 comments I'm so glad you all are having fun with this and if you want to continue in private - have fun! Please do keep it private though. And I better see you all again when (if, but more than likely when) we repeat this challenge!!

Here is your next task:

21. Read a book recommended to you by a teammate - no pass for this task.

You can do the recommendations however you wish - to the group, to each individual, to the person below you on the list or ?? - it's up to you. If you want to provide a specific shelf to pick from, it needs to have a minimum of 10 book on it.

message 455: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 32105 comments PS - The challenge ends on the 9th, so you have time to finish this task and probably one more! 😊

Sweet Kat! Thank you!!

Oh, for sure! Not gonna steal your thunder! (Well, only in private we will.) 😂

Love the challenge - thanks for allowing us to continue in our super secret group!

[[ Frankie ]] (freedbyfiction) | 524 comments Let me get a list of recs together for y’all...

message 462: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 1292 comments Okay favorite books, where this is so tough. I think I'm going to list some of my favorite series and then y'all have some options of picking the first one of each series. I'll also list some individual books. Now, some of these series aren't updated on my goodreads because I read them before I had goodreads but I've read almost all the early books in most of these.

Catherine Coulter FBI series https://www.goodreads.com/series/4097...

Julia Quinn Bridgerton's (I've read this series over and over again.)
https://www.goodreads.com/series/4039...

Jill Shalvis Heartbreaker Bay series
https://www.goodreads.com/series/1690...

Lori Foster Body Armour Series
https://www.goodreads.com/series/1844...

Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series
1st one is a little slower but the series really picks up
https://www.goodreads.com/series/4093...

Rebecca Zanetti's Dark Protector series
https://www.goodreads.com/series/4093...

Some individual books would be:
Beartown
Us Against You
Five Feet Apart
If I Stay
An Anonymous Girl

message 463: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 1292 comments I read all over the place! So there's anything from hot and steamy to suspenseful to quick and witty and so on.

message 464: by [[ Frankie ]] (new)

[[ Frankie ]] (freedbyfiction) | 524 comments Whoops - I’m so late with my rec list, but here we go - -

message 466: by [[ Frankie ]] (new)

[[ Frankie ]] (freedbyfiction) | 524 comments No romance, as you can see. But there are some HF books in there that have some romance aspects.

message 467: by [[ Frankie ]] (new)

[[ Frankie ]] (freedbyfiction) | 524 comments Thanks, ladies! Love all these recs! I’ve decided to go with Cyndee’s recommendation of The Law of Moses, since I’ve been waiting for a chance to get to this one, & it happens to fit into most of my other challenges! Yay!

On a Cold Dark Sea is SOOOOOO good! I second that recommendation!

message 469: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 1292 comments Well since I read 3/4 books for the injustice battle but didn't realize that I missed the deadline to turn them in because I just didn't read the rules, I'm trying to make sure that I get all 4 of the books this time so I can redeem myself with some points. That being said I think I'm going to go with Slammed off Leslie's list because it has been on my tbr for awhile and it fits over there. I also downloaded the On a Cold Dark Sea because I may have to fit that in somewhere.

message 470: by Leslie (new)

Leslie I'm going to go with Rush from Cyndee's list as it's sitting on my Kindle calling my name. I found books on Frankie and Anna's lists I want to read too so, once again my TBR list has grown :)

Same! I found books on everyone’s rec lists that I wanna read! (& hopefully will read soon!)

You don't have to read all 4 books for that challenge! Just one. You just won't know which one has the highest points value until she posts the results. :(

I'm going to read either Slammed or The Nightingale. I'll start it today, whichever one I go with. :)

message 473: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 1292 comments Yeah, I found that out late last night too after I spent time finding books for each of the tasks. I really should've read the instructions a little more clearly. Slammed works for both challenges though so this time I'll be on top of it. Oops! Ohhh, I really liked the Nightingale also.

message 474: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 1292 comments I put all the books that I hadn't read or wasn't on my TBR on my TBR. I figured if y'all recommended them they must be good and then I'll have some options when we get a TBR task or I need a random book. :)

I feel like we should start a secret friend group just for challenge recommendations where we can go to each other and be like "Okay girls, I need a book that doesn't suck that has a character who is Amish." (And I may have pulled that example from recent personal experience. LOL!)

message 476: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 1292 comments Lol, that sounds like a great idea because I have a series that has Amish people in it that doesn't suck but I also have read books that I'm just sitting here like really?!?!

Yeah, I just finished one of those. And it honestly had a lot of potential, which almost makes the disappointment worse. LOL!

I love this idea! If you were thinking just us four for the time being, then we could use the secret group we’re gonna make to work on these remaining tasks... make it a “rec” group also. :p

I did! It's a short one so I read it immediately after Rush. I've read ALMOST every book Emma Scott has written. I think I'm only missing her most recent release and MAYBE one more, and I recommend them all!

bamaace83 | 1292 comments I really liked Slammed but at times Lake was a little dramatic but it fit in the story well. I was torn between the 4 and 5 rating. I really liked the book just some parts were a little off but at the same time I sped read it so I'm pretty sure that I'm going to have to go give this book another go to make sure I didn't miss anything.

I could see where you might think that, but she did just lose her dad suddenly, move across the country, and find out this dude she has serious chemistry with is her teacher who keeps sending her mixed signals. I'd be a dramatic 18-yr-old in that situation too. LOL!!!

[[ Frankie ]] (freedbyfiction) | 524 comments Sorry, ladies. I’ve been a little slow on the reading this weekend so far. I don’t think we’ll be able to finish another one anyway (thanks to me), but I think we kinda expected that anyway, right? That this would be our last one?

I’m only halfway through my book, but I’ll DEF be done before the end of the challenge on the 9th. Absolutely positively. :]

So true! That's where I was torn between the ratings. I'm probably going to read it again since I finished it yesterday during my crazy insane reading day. I think I may actually listen to it this week in the car on audible to and from work.

bamaace83 | 1292 comments Is it okay if I steal y'all's recommendations lists to share with my Wheel team since we have a task that has get books from another member on another team? Y'all can share mine too. Leslie, are you playing wheels? After checking my books, apparently I read the second slammed book back in 2015 and gave it a 2. I feel that I wasn't in the right frame of mine to fully enjoy that book at that time because why would I have given it a 2 so now it's on my list to be read again to fully envelope myself in the continuation of Lake and Will.

message 494: by Leslie (new)

Leslie No I'm not playing wheels, but you can absolutely use my recommendation list. What is Wheels like?

message 495: by bamaace83 (new)

bamaace83 | 1292 comments Cool, it's a team challenge over in Nothing But Reading Challenges. I've done a couple challenges over there and they are fun. A ton of familiar faces from other groups that we are all members of. I haven't done wheels before but it looks pretty fun. I think the teams are full but they are taking reserves. I joined this group to play Towers last year and I really liked that. Yesterday, I took part in the crazy quidditch match-up and that was some insane crazy reading fun. I didn't know what I was signing up for so I'm glad that I had time yesterday to devote because it takes time for sure.

The books you choose need to have an average GR rating of 4.2 or higher. You can find this number on the main book page, use the average rating in your qualification. There is no pass for this task - so every team member needs to complete a book before the task is considered complete and points are tallied.
