So, I totally read that in 8 hours after getting the approval email from Netgalley . . . While not as suspenseful as some of Hannon's previous works, this one kept me reading all day long!
Luke Carter and Kristin Dane are both interesting characters, and I enjoyed getting to know them and their backstories throughout the book. The storyline with Kristin and her family, in particular, I loved. While I can't say I'm a huge fan of Hannon's romances, the platonic relationships are always epic! I loved Luke's relationship with his sister, Becca, and Kristin's relationship with her best-friends-from-high-school, Colin and Rick. Talk about awesome big-brother material!
The storyline itself kept me on my toes. A terrorist plot wrapped up in handmade candles from Syria? So unique! The villain was very interesting, but I guessed his identity pretty early on, which took some of the suspense out of it for me. The ending was very action-packed and nail-biting, just the way a climax should be.
Overall, while this is not my favorite of Hannon's, it was still a fun read and worth checking out if you are a lover of romantic suspense!
CONTENT NOTE: Recommended for ages 18+ for romance and violence.
FTC disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review. These are my honest thoughts and opinions.
Irene Hannon is a favorite with many Christian fiction romantic suspense readers. Her latest, Hidden Peril, was another great installment. Set in St. Louis, you'll see glimpses of past heroes, but the action centers on a woman Kristen Dane who runs a shop that highlights sustainable products from around the world. She's worked hard to create a place where their goods can be sold and help provide support to needy groups in hard countries. When first the woman who works for her is murdered and then a customer, local detective Luke Carter finds himself interacting with Kristen and slowly falling in love. There are so many layers and intricacies to the plot that I couldn't stay away. Hidden Peril was a great read and will satisfy readers of romantic suspense. I truly enjoyed this romantic suspense. The romance was realistic and the suspense a fresh, creative twist. A good read!

Suspense is one of my favorite genres and I know it well, so I wasn’t surprised to find lots of twists and turns and edge-of-your-seat moments in this one. A couple of major things (including the identity of a major bad guy and a huge plot twist near the end) were telegraphed much too early on for me… but that could have been because of my familiarity with the genre. Other readers most likely won’t see these two particular things coming.
I liked that there was tension throughout the story, because that kept me riveted to the pages in nearly every scene. The fact that the story revolved around terrorism felt organic and real-to-life accurate as that sort of thing is practically always in the headlines in this decade, unfortunately. It seemed all too realistic that ordinary, everyday people would get twisted up in the nefarious plot in various ways, and it made me appreciate even more the quiet little town I live in and the family I love and have been blessed with.
The romance side of this novel was nauseating to me. It overly emphasized the physical attraction and reactions and passions. This included extended kisses and a comment that the leading lady “needed to go stand in front of the air conditioner” after hearing the “throaty… intimate… note” in a guy's voice. I don’t doubt people deal with this sort of reaction, but it seemed so out of place and made the scenes between Kristin and Luke awkward and unappealing to me. I did somehow keep rooting for them, but they didn’t make that easy for me to do.
Kristin whined a few times about her best friends nosing into her personal business… but didn’t she do the exact same thing in the previous book of the series? I recall that she did, because it was annoying in that one as she came on too strong about it. Thankfully, she was toned down on that aspect in this book… but I don’t see how she had any room to argue that her buddies should have backed off.
I had hoped that the theater—one of Kristin’s passions in book one—would play a large role in this story, but it got shoved to the background and ended up being a mere footnote. I was greatly disappointed in this as I love theater productions and would love to see them featured more often in fiction. There was a wonderful opportunity to pull that aspect directly into the plot of this book, but that opportunity went completely to waste.
Overall, I was intrigued by the plot and seeing how the FBI and local authorities worked in tandem to figure out the mystery, and I enjoyed the tension and suspense-y vibes I was getting throughout the book. I enjoyed many chapters and scenes, but this would have been heightened had the romance taken a less physical-and-passion-reactions-to-heated-glances-and-voice-tones presentation.
Content: profanity, sexual terms (two), replacement profanity (a few), expletive, alcohol, tobacco
This is the second book in this series, and can be read alone, but we pick up at a wedding, and go forward from there with a chance meeting and then a sad professional meeting a few days later. This is a read that I felt I could be hearing on the news, it hits all too close to reality, and unfortunately it could all be true. While my mind did lock onto who the main culprit was you will have to read to see if you catch on too. With a lot of action here you will not be able to guess what is around the next corner. We are reunited with the life friends of the Tree House Gang, and I love the relationship they share, and how they are there for one another. With a bit of sweet romance, and a strong faith in God, you will be wanting to come back soon for another linger into the lives of these characters.
I received this book through LibraryThing, and was not required to give a positive review.
An amazing romantic suspense. More suspense than romantic, but still highly entertaining. A Terrorist plot involving homemade candles from Syria? Very interesting and unique.
I had the villain figured out early on in the story and that took some of the tension out of it for me. But over all a great read. I recommend it to anyone who loves Romantic Suspense.
Tantalizing intrigue slowly builds in pace until you won't be able to turn the pages fast enough towards the end. A real paper-cut-inducing frenzy of a conclusion!
Love the sheer scope of the suspense. It's multi-layered and complicated and unravels over a generous amount of time which leaves Kristin and Luke on tenterhooks romantically speaking. Talk about a slow, deliberate build-up to the fireworks! Their yearning is palpable but Luke is striving to tow the police department line by not becoming involved with a victim/witness. But, oh my, how that man can convey longing in a succinct business-like phone call. Be still my heart!
There's a lot to work through before something as tangible as a date can happen though so the race is on to foil a deadly scheme. Fans of Irene Hannon's work will thrill over some unexpected cameos from earlier books. No worries if you don't recognize them, but it's kinda fun if you do.
And this is only the second book in the Code of Honor series so we still have some delectable reading in store. While each book can be read as a standalone, I'm really enjoying the special friendship Kristin, Rick and Colin have nurtured for years. The give and take and playful banter between the three is loads of fun and now that Colin and Kristin have found their HEA, it's Rick's turn next. Dark Ambitions releases in October and I can't wait!
Oh my! It will take a day or two for my heart to stop pounding so fast! Such a great combination of action and romance. The identity of the villain wasn't too difficult to figure out, but the tense, thrilling situations are what make this book shine. Terrorists and a coordinated law enforcement effort come together for such an action packed thriller that I actually found myself holding my breath at times hoping that the various characters would be all right, just like I would if they were a real person. Highly recommended!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Hidden Peril is the second book in Irene Hannon's Code of Honor series. Her meticulous research ferreted out from law enforcement officers gives her stories a ring of truth. This book confronts the realities of terror cells among us in this day and time. Kristin Dane is helping the world in her small corner of it. Following a stint in the Peace Corp, and some time to learn how to successfully run a business, she opened WorldCraft, a store that sells fair trade items and fosters community economic development in third world communities. Little did she know that her business was unintentionally helping to fund terror cells much closer to home. Detective Luke Carter was still grieving three years after the death of his wife. He struggled with the idea of “replacing” her, but his sister and his growing feelings for Kristin helped him to realize that our hearts have a limitless supply of love and that we can love additional people without replacing the ones we have loved before. Now that he was willing to risk his heart again, he must see to the safety of his new love.
Irene Hannon is a skilled writer of romantic suspense. The romance features of her stories play well against the suspense without detracting from it. Her suspense stories always keep their promise of being an edge of your seat, page turning, wild ride read. My advise is to give up on getting anything else accomplished once you pick one up. I thank NetGalley and Revell Publishing for providing me with a copy of Hidden Peril in exchange for my honest opinion. I was under no obligation to provide a positive review and received no monetary compensation.
This book started with a suspenseful bang which continued throughout the book right till the end.
The plot was interesting and engaging. I did guess who the secret terrorist is before the reveal, but still enjoyed seeing how the characters fit all the clues together.
I loved that we met up with some FBI agents we met in the author’s first suspense series. Character traits which made me love them in their stories were still evident.
Looking forward to continuing the series with the final book.
I never miss an Irene Hannon book. She is a very good suspense author with spiritual themes. This latest book is number two in her Code of Honor series and delves into terrorist activity and how they fund their missions.
Her writing, as always, is impeccable, and her plots spot on in today's world. Her characters are always very well developed. I especially enjoy how she layers her suspense right up until the end, guaranteeing her readers excitement in her books. Recommended.
*My thanks to the publisher for providing a copy of this book via Net Galley. The opinions stated here are entirely my own.
Hidden Peril is the second book in the Code of Honor series and is Kristin Dane's story. She is part of the Treehouse Gang that we met in Dangerous Illusions. Kristin, Colin and Rick have been best friends since they met when they were twelve years old. Colin and Rick sat with Kristin at lunch after noticing that she always sat alone. They have been friends since and each needed the friendship for different reasons. Kristin's parents have careers that kept them from spending much time with her as she grew up but provided the best nannies, after school classes and camps. Colin and Rick have been close like family. Krisitin is best woman in Colin's wedding where she briefly meets Detective Luke Carter, a new co-worker of Colin's at the St. Louis County police force. He doesn't want to be there since he hasn't recovered from the death of his wife three years ago and weddings are too happy for him to enjoy. Kristin and Luke don't expect to see each other again but are thrown together when Luke gets assigned to investigate the murder of Kristin's assistant in her fair trade shop where she sells goods from around the world. The case is a complicated one that goes deeper than a robbery or known assailant. Kristin wounds up cooperating with not only the county law enforcement but the FBI when they start digging into the case. Luke and Kristin develop a friendship that sparks an attraction that they can't deny. Irene Hannon always does a great job at developing characters that are real, likable and believable. Her books are full of suspense, danger, faith and romance. This one is no exception. It is an action packed page turner to the end. I am looking forward to Rick's story next year. I received a complimentary ARC of the book from Revell Publishing through NetGalley. The thoughts and opinions stated are mine only.
After the disappointment of Dangerous Illusions, Book 1 in the Code of Honor series, I am happy to say that Hannon's sky high suspense was back at the forefront (instead of the romance) in this book. The intensity grows from the beginning to the explosive ending. Hannon's plot is focused on terrorism and fits into today's current world situation perfectly. Her background research on this subject is obvious throughout the plot.
The characters were realistic and believable. It was great to see the Treehouse Gang from Dangerous Illusions front and ready once again. The interconnection between Rick, Colin, and Kristin is wonderful. Kristin is a strong, independent young woman who would make a wonderful friend with her caring ways especially her concern for people in developing nations. Luke Carter, the hero, was conscientious and warm hearted. His never give up attitude was what saved the day in the end. It was nice to see forgiveness, understanding and love develop between both Luke and his father and Kristin and her parents as both Luke and Kristin grew stronger in their faith and their relationship.
Definitely my favorite of the two books in this series; and there is no indication, at this time, if there were be more books in this series.
**I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Publishing through NetGalley. Opinions are mine alone. I was not compensated for this review.
Irene Hannon is one of the go-to author for me when it comes to writing suspense. I know she will have a solid story with plenty of research and high tension enough to grab and keep my attention. With her newest novel, Hidden Peril, the suspense seemed, to me, pretty watered down. It was another novel having to with a terrorist threat on American soil. For me, this type of suspense really doesn't capture my attention. I know the threat is real. I'm not that naive, but I honestly don't want to keep reading it over and over again in my suspense novels. The suspense didn't appear to be that important to Kristin's life until about eighty-five percent into the novel. The romance between Kristin Dane and Luke occurred from the moment the couple met and kept increasing its sparks as the story progressed along. The ending is predictable with, even so far as me knowing who was behind the attacks pretty early in the novel and Hannon proved me correct at the end of the novel. The romance ending was completely predictable too.
Overall, Hidden Peril by Irene Hannon started out with a unique twist but then morphed into a terrorist plot on American soil, losing my attention pretty quickly. I still believe fan so DiAnn Mills novels would enjoy this novel.
I received a complimentary copy of Hidden Peril by Irene Hannon, but the opinions stated are all my own.
"A lot of people talked about helping those in need. Kristin Dane was doing it."
That's what made the crime so bizarre; a lovely fair trade shop smeared with the blood of a senseless murder. Kristin Dane is deeply heartbroken over the violent death of her part time clerk. The police want answers as well, and when they assign Detective Luke Carter to Kristin's case, she is duly convinced that Luke will do his very best to seek justice. But when a second murder is committed with loose connections to Kristin's merchandise, there is a sense that a much darker force could be involved. . . . . . for, "terrorists are not predictable".
Join Luke and and Kristin as they fight against those seeking America's demise, while their growing attraction for each other threatens to provide the spark that their enemy needs, to ignite its strategy into overdrive. This story has Irene Hannon's legendary trademarks written all over it; admirers of romantic suspense will have a hard time putting it down!
I listened to the audio version of this book and thoroughly enjoyed both the story and the narrator.
This novel is book two in the series, yet it could easily be read as a stand alone novel. I did enjoy seeing the three friends who called themselves the Treehouse Gang as kids interacting again in this book.
This story had some great twists and showed how a terrorist network could integrate a system that utilized people and businesses without their knowledge to advance the network's plans. Even though I was able to figure out the major villain in the story early on, I still enjoyed the way things fell together.
I loved the chemistry and connection between the two main characters and was so happy to see such a great epilogue! I'm looking forward to reading the final book in the series.
I love the back story that connects the main characters in this series. Hidden Peril kicks off with a quick start in Syria and then ties back to Kristin Dane's free trade store in St. Louis. The action and romance were both engaging in this novel. Next up...Rick's story.
Irene Hannon has created another thriller with Hidden Peril. Captivating characters, intense romance and a race against the clock to stop a terrorist plot, Hidden Peril has everything to keep you glued to the pages.
Finding her shop assistant dead behind the counter of her fair trade shop was a terrible shock to owner Kristin Dane. She opened the shop to make a positive impact on the world and is heartbroken by the loss and eager to help the police with their inquiries. Detective Luke Carter can find few leads in the murder investigation, until further deaths are linked back to the same shop. When the FBI become involved, Luke and Kristin find themselves in the middle of an investigation that could have serious implications - both at home and around the world.
Hidden Peril is the second book in the Code of Honor series. Like the first book in the series there are snippets of action and an underlying tension throughout the entire book but the majority of the story is based around solid detective work. As with the first book, I love the measured pace and the authentic feeling that this brings to the story. Luke, later along with the FBI, methodically work the case, and while some parts of the investigation take time, there is still plenty of action, especially at the end. I also have to note that I loved Kristin’s role in the investigation, her determination and continued strength. Kristin faces many challenges in Hidden Peril, including grief and becoming entangled in a terrorist’s plot. She also faces more personal challenges in the form of a family crisis. Even when distraught or exhausted, Kristin demonstrates continued compassion and strength; she is a wonderful character and someone I really enjoyed getting to know while reading Hidden Peril.
There is a lot of romantic tension in the story. Luke and Kristin have a wonderful chemistry and an underlying passion that they try to keep dormant as Luke works the case. Luke isn’t sure he ever wants to become romantically involved with anyone again, thinks it might break the vows he made to his late wife. Yet Kristin seems to slip past his defences. They share a lot of playful banter as they work personal conversations into their discussions about the case.
I love the author’s attention to detail - both in the aspects of the case and in the overall writing style. It’s not hard to imagine oneself right next to the characters, as you enjoy the vivid descriptions and lush prose.
Intrigue and romance combine in Hidden Peril to create an exciting and thoroughly enjoyable addition to the Code of Honor series. I eagerly await the third book in the series by the talented author.

Wow, Irene Hannon is a master of suspense! This was a riveting, page-turner of a novel. I'd like to do a better review, but an injury is keeping me away from the computer, sidelined in my recliner, where I am reading, reading, reading.
Next up is Dark Ambitions by the same author. Not bedtime reading.
Interesting - categorized as inspirational, but with the terrorism theme I thought it much more romantic suspense. Believable characters. Sweet romance.
Disclosure: I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Islamic terrorism is a very scary thing in the world right now. The threat of ISIS is constantly present. In Hidden Peril, Kristin Dane thinks she's aiding refugees with her business, but instead discovers the charity has been infiltrated by terrorists. It's a long road for the detectives as they attempt to take down the terrorists before they can further their plans. For me this book focused too much on the romance and not enough on the action. I know this piece is a matter of personal taste. I recognize that it's hard to fit everything into a single book, but I struggle with romances that hit it off before characters even know each other. This also caused the suspense in the story to be delayed because the beginning of the book was more focused on the budding romance. So for people who prefer the romance to the suspense, I would say this book is more for them. It's not to say that there isn't any suspense, but a lot of the action comes later on. Once the action kicked in, the story started to move much quicker. The danger was imminent and unpredictable. The characters race the clock as they fight to distinguish the threat of terrorism. But as the other side becomes aware of their plans, the danger only seems to escalate. The ending is certainly one to get your adrenaline running. Hidden Peril is the second book in the Code of Honor series. Although several of the characters are in both books, they could also be read as stand-alone. In the beginning of the book Luke and Kristin meet at the wedding of Trish and Colin, who were the main characters of the first in the series. While it helps for some backstory, I wouldn't say it's a requirement to read the books in order. As I mentioned above I would recommend this book to people who prefer the romance side of romantic suspense. Overall I enjoyed the book and I'm interested to see if the author continues the series. *I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author through JustRead Publicity Tours. I was not required to give a positive review. Thoughts and opinions expressed are mine alone.
Romantic suspense--at first I thought we were going to be burdened with the "the person I'm interested in is involved with someone else" when they really aren't for a good portion of the book, but thankfully Hannon dispenses with the explanations to each other rather quickly, leaving us with a slowly building romance set amidst an unlikely scenario.
I guessed who the lead was long before the author revealed it. That's not my norm, so either the author didn't do much to conceal it or I'm on to this author's plot tricks. Either is possible since I have enjoyed Hannon's books in the past.
I liked the characters. I liked the long-time friendship between Colin, Rick, and Kristin--a friendship that they've taken care to preserve and that is impervious to one of them getting married. It's nice that they're friendship is such that it can expand to include others such as Luke and Trish. Friendships like that are rare but beautiful and are to be cherished. The characters seemed to have many life events to juggle in their lives, which seems realistic to me.
It's refreshing to read suspense where there isn't an "obligatory-to-the-genre" bedroom scene between nonmarried characters. Hannon proves that it can be done. I will definitely read more of her books in the future.
Note: I received a copy of this book through LibraryThing's Early Reviewers program in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this romantic suspense. Hannon gives readers a good balance of character development mixed with episodes of action.
I really appreciate the international aspect of the plot. Kristen operates a fair trade shop, helping support people in third world countries. Little does she know that some of her products contain hidden items used by a domestic terrorist cell to fund their operations.
The emphasis of the novel, however, seems to be romance. The periodic action does well to propel the romance along. The first, a murder in Kristen's shop, brings a handsome man into the story. Luke is an able St. Louis police detective but finds himself seriously attracted to Kristen. I like how Hannon gave Luke enough sense to temper his feelings toward Kristen until the case is closed. But the case is not closed until there is a good bit of page turning suspense at the end.
I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy a well plotted character driven romantic suspense.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
Hidden Peril is book two in the Code of Honor series by Irene Hannon. As is a trademark of hers, this book is set in St. Louis. That is one of the things I love about Ms. Hannon’s books. I lived in St. Louis for twenty years so many of the places she writes into her stories are familiar to me. I used google maps to pinpoint some locations throughout the whole book. It was great revisiting some of my favorite places. The action starts out pretty quickly as Kristen Dane, owner of a fair trade store in suburban Kirkwood, opens her shop to find her employee dead behind the counter. When a customer is also found dead at her home, county detective Luke Carter starts to put the pieces together. This was a fast paced, thrilling story with an intricate plot that involved terrorists. The romance was what we expect from Ms. Hannon— great chemistry, solid faith filled protagonists. The subplots involving the family members were a nice way to fill in their backgrounds. I recommend this book to fans of Christian Romantic Suspense. It was an exciting story that makes you ready to read book three.. *I borrowed this book from the public library. All opinions are my own.*
In book 2 of the Code of Honor series, Irene Hannon drops readers right into the action from the very first page. I really enjoyed plot line of this story. It was unique, thrilling, and well-developed making this story a quick page-turner. I enjoyed the characters, especially the shared camaraderie. If I had one complaint, it's with the warp-speed in which heroine, Kristen Dane, and hero, Luke Carter, discover they "love" each other. In this particular story, it felt like a lot happened off-page so when their feelings emerge it doesn't feel as authentic to me. Overall, Ms.Hannon always delivers what her readers love about her stories: twisty plots, great characters, and the kind of writing that'll keep me anxious for her next book.
**I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions expressed are my own.
A remote monastery in the Middle East. Murders of innocent people. Mysterious candles. A dead terrorist. How did they all connect?
Hannon neatly ties these elements together while writing an engaging and thrilling pulse-pounding suspense. For me, she's one of those authors who I'll follow anywhere she leads! Her books are on my automatic “must-read-now” category. That being said, this second book in her Code of Honor series was a much anticipated read, one I've waited a long time to get my hands on! She never disappoints and once I had this in hand, I settled in for the long haul. So reader be warned, you don't want to put this down once you start!
If you've ever watched “The Monuments Men”, you'll enjoy the nod towards the movie and their quest to preserve priceless art masterpieces from under the nose of the Nazis. In the books case, artifacts are being stolen and used for a much more sinister plot! Think ISIS, now isn't that beyond scary? Kristin Dane is an innocent pawn in a terrorists scheme. Luke Carter along with his team must protect her as they try to catch the illusive men behind the plot. I had high blood pressure as I watched things unfolding and dizzy with all the twists & turns Hannon takes her readers on. The breath-stealing ending had my heart in my throat; what a way to wrap up another hair-raising suspense by one of the best authors out there. Whew, I still feel a bit discombobulated from the roller coaster of a ride! It may take a while to get my landlubbers feet under me; that tells me Hannon did her job as a writer. Talking about breath-stealing, the romance brewing between Kristin and Luke sizzles under the surface. You can physically feel the electricity between these two. Though for Luke, he's the perfect gentleman playing it cool since much more is at stake than his heart. I think it was a great balance of suspense and romance, another thing I love about Hannon's writing. She consistently delivers on all elements without overriding any of them. Lastly, character growth and spiritual theme are evident throughout. Both Kristin & Luke have family issues in their past they must overcome, and forgiveness plays a huge part in all of it. To sum it up: with gripping suspense, stirring inspirational moments, a frantic race to squash a sinister plot, and affairs of the heart, Hannon once again delivers. Don't miss this exciting addition to a fantastic series!

I was invited to join the Blog Tour Team for Revell Books, a division of Baker Publishing Group for today's post about Hidden Peril by Irene Hannon. While I hadn't heard of this author previously, she's clearly been producing amazing books for some time now so I need to catch up on this author!
Hidden Peril is the second book in Irene Hannon's Code of Honor series, the first book being Dangerous Illusions. I had not read the first book, obviously, and I really felt like this book served as a standalone.
Hidden Peril is Kristin Dane's story. Kristin is the second member of the Treehouse Gang introduced in Dangerous Illusions. Kristin, Colin and Rick have been best friends since they met as 12 year old children. Colin and Rick sat with Kristin at lunch after noticing that she always sat alone and they have been friends since, each having their own reasons for needing the friendship to continue.
In the beginning of the book Luke and Kristin meet at the wedding of Trish and Colin, who I understand were the main characters of the first book in this series. The interconnection between Rick, Colin, and Kristin in this story is wonderful. I appreciated that Kristin is a strong, independent young woman who cared about other people.
In Hidden Peril, the action is poured out over several months, which makes the development of the romance feel very natural. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that there was a bit more romance than I expected in this book too.
This Christian romance/suspense novel provides a fast paced action packed thriller. At times, I actually found myself holding my breath hoping that the characters would be all right. The characters were believable and they seemed very realistic in the way that they seemed to have so much "life" to juggle around in their lives.
This author has officially been added to my "must read" list, and I'll be watching for the third book in this series after I go back and read the first book!
I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Books, a division of Baker Publishing Group in exchange for this, my honest review. I was not required to post a positive review, but chose to.
I love the relationship Kristin has with her two best friends; the boys are wonderfully protective and brother-like. It's refreshing to see that friend relationship portrayed without sexual tension between her and the boys--just mutual love and respect.
Though he's not a major character, I liked Yusef Bishara and the choice he makes--it's much better than watching him give in to blackmail and travel down a road of self-destruction, which is what I was afraid would happen. Impressively, the main villain was both incredibly smart and sensible--it's actually pretty impressive that they figure out his identity. It was fun having such an intelligent villain, even if he was easy to peg pretty early on (for me as a reader, anyway. In their shoes, I would probably still be hunting high and low with no hope of figuring out his identity).
Terrorists aren't my favorite suspense subject, though antiquities smuggling is fascinating--especially when done so cleverly as in this book. It was a great surprise that characters from an older series managed to get roped into this book (being as it takes place in their territory, crime-wise); crossovers are always fun, especially when one is familiar with the guests!
Thank you Revell and Netgalley for the complimentary e-book. I was not required to write a positive review, and all opinions are my own.
