new_user Quinn writes dark? I had no idea, LOL. I would have never guessed from the title either. The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever, LOL. I should read those.

I haven't read any other Julia Quinn's so I don't know her usual writing style. I like the dark romances too!

message 53: by Ally72 (new)

Ally72 I love Julia Quinn's Bridgerton series too! I took a break after Penelope and Colin's book, but I am anxious to start it again...I have Eloise's story next. Juila Quinn is one of my favorites and she has a fun writing style.
Ally

I haven't read When He Was Wicked yet or Miranda Cheever. I have those in the tbr pile though. I am pretty behind on my historical reading because I feel into the PNR realm. I love them to death. I'm getting back into reading historicals lately.

message 55: by Linds (new)

Linds I just finished Then Came You by Lisa Kleypas. It was good! It had a really good heroine which isn't always the case. LK (hardly) ever lets me down :)

Brandy *Ahviel* (ahviel) i just finished "Offer from a Genleman" [image error]
It was such a good book. I loved it and the end was fantastic

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 739 comments Mod
Hi Terri. I read the first two in the Boscastle series. I need to keep reading them. I love Jillian Hunter's books. Sexy heroes. :)

Linds, Then Came You is one of my all time favorite LK books.

Brandy I haven't read Offer From a Gentleman yet.

Everyone, I just finished Dracula by Bram Stoker. It was awesome to finally read this book. I'm a big vampire fan.

message 59: by Ally72 (new)

Ally72 Hi Danielle,
I am glad you enjoyed Dracula. I admire you for reading different genres all the time! I know I need to "branch" out a little more. Take care!

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 739 comments Mod
It's just my multiple reading personality. I love romance, my first love, but I also love scary books too. :)

message 61: by Terri (new)

Terri (brookfield) I only go for the romance it keeps me going Mary balogh is good too the slightly series

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 739 comments Mod
Mary Balogh is definitely an author I enjoy.

message 63: by Char (new)

Char (char3) | 8 comments All He Desires by Althea Lawson is a book I'm looking at to read. It comes out in the next several days (cen't remember exact release date) but it's Victorian era.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 739 comments Mod
I picked that one up, too, Char. It sounds good.

I forgot to post that I finished Seduce Me at Sunrise by Lisa Kleypas last week. Great book.

message 65: by Char (new)

Char (char3) | 8 comments Danielle: Have you read anything by this author (Althea Lawson) before? I happened to see this book listed on another author's website. Can't find anything else by Lawson so this might be her first?

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 739 comments Mod
Hey Char. She's a new author for me. I picked up her book from Walmart last week but haven't read it yet. I think she has another book that came out a few years ago. Here it is: Passionate. I have this one in the you know where as well. :)

message 67: by Char (new)

Char (char3) | 8 comments Well, dummy me, no wonder I couldn't find anything else by her--I was spelling her name "Althea" instead of "Anthea" (lol). Thanks for that Danielle--her first book looks pretty good, too.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 739 comments Mod
You're not a dummy. It could happen to anyone. As for her first book, I love the exotic adventure romances, so I hope it is good.

message 69: by Linds (last edited Nov 28, 2009 08:44PM) (new)

Linds The just read The Serpent Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt. I thought it was a good read but I think The Raven Prince by her is her best work.

Brandy - I'm going through the Bridgerton series right now too. I really liked An Offer from a Gentleman. Benedict and Sophie have supporting roles in To Sir Philip with Love (The 5th book in the series) so it was nice to catch up with them and see how they are doing :)

To Sir Philip with Love was a good read but I think The Duke and I and An Offer from a Gentleman are the best in the series (so far, I've only read up through book #5)

message 70: by Julianna (new)

Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 73 comments I recently finished The Serpent Prince too Linds, although I'm the opposite in thinking that it was the best of the trilogy by a nose.;-)

message 71: by Verity (new)

Verity | 49 comments The Serpent Prince is 1 of my top 10 all-time favs =)~

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 739 comments Mod
I just read Dangerous Tides by Christine Feehan and before that, An Enchanted Season by Nalini Singh, et all. I really enjoyed both books. Now I'm reading Christmas Ball by Jennifer Ashley, and The Heart of Christmas A Handful of Gold\The Season for Suitors\This Wicked Gift by Mary Balogh et al. I thought I wouldn't like the first story in Christmas Ball, but I did. The Mary Balogh story in The Heart of Christmas is a reread from another Christmas collection of her, but I'm enjoying it for the second-time.

Happy Holidays to those who celebrate, and happy weekend if you don't. Happy Reading!

Verity | 49 comments Just read another wonderful gem by Carla Kelly = The surgeon's lady. Have the merriest Xmas ever, folks =^2

message 74: by Julianna (new)

Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 73 comments I've been working on The Christmas Countess by Adrienne Basso. I haven't read a Victorian romance in a while, and it's pretty good so far.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 739 comments Mod
Carla Kelly really won my affection with The Wedding Journey. She's an autobuy for me now.

I'm hoping to finish the two Christmas anthologies I listed above, but I'm also reading Wolfsbane and Mistletoe.

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 80 comments I am currently reading Claiming the Courtesan by Anna Campbell. It is very intense but I am really enjoying it. I can tell it will be one of those books that stick with me for a long time.

message 77: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 29 comments I just finished Addicted by Charlotte Featherstone. I really enjoyed it. If any of you have read BDB (Phury's book) the Hero in this book also has a similar addiction like Phury. I am always a bit shy to read addiction books but this one was very light when it came to the details of the drug use. I really enjoyed it.

Kelly, I've heard nothing but good about Addicted. I'm a little wary of erotic books, so that's why I haven't read this one.

message 81: by Kelly (last edited Jan 02, 2010 09:26PM) (new)

Kelly | 29 comments Danielle. I know you are a big fan of the BDB and I would have to say I don't think the sex is anything more than what Ward writes.

I have read a few (about 4 Erotica novels) and I would say this is on the light side.

Give it a try I think you would enjoy the story enough to overlook the sex.

Plus I would LOVE to read your review. Your reviews always make me stop and rethink my take on a book :-)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 739 comments Mod
Thanks, Kelly. I appreciate the 411. I'll give this one a try. If it's along the lines of JR Ward, I should be fine. And thanks for the kind words on my reviews. It's a fun past-time of mine to write reviews. I started doing it on my blog, and then someone told me about Goodreads. Now I'm in heaven!

message 83: by Linds (new)

Linds Danielle I love Goodreads too! It has given me so many good pics. I love reading what other people have to say and it is so helpful in pointing me toward the type of book I'm looking for.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 739 comments Mod
Yes, Goodreads has been a shining light for me. Of course, maybe not my house (for all the books in it), and my pocketbook (less money since more money spent on books). LOL.

Kelly | 29 comments just finished The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever (Bevelstoke, #1) by Julia Quinn confirms my love of Julia Quinn.

Starting:
The Luxe YA The cover is lovely.
The Luxe (Luxe, #1) by Anna Godbersen

and For the Roses For the Roses (Rose, #1) by Julie Garwood

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 739 comments Mod
Kelly, I love For the Roses. I hope you enjoy it!

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish YAY! Kelly, For the Roses was such an excellent, feel good read. It's my favorite feel good romance.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish OK, I'm having to readjust some things. I finished Claiming the Courtesan and today I am going to read Her Colorado Man and then, I'm going to start Wallflowers because I found A Wallflower Christmas at my library and want to read that. My OCD, AKA MRBIOS (Must Read Books In Order Syndrome) demands that I start with book 1, Secrets of a Summer Night and work my way through the series.

By then I should have all of Kathleen Givens books and will read through them. Many are not available new so I've ordered them through half.com and eBay.

Her Colorado Man (Harlequin Historical Series) by Cheryl St.John Secrets of a Summer Night (Wallflowers, #1) by Lisa Kleypas

Is there something different about the hyperlinks? They are all underlined now and I don't recall that before. They stand out so much better!

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 739 comments Mod
I noticed that about the hyperlinks, too. Interesting.

Dhestiny, I really loved SOASN. It's my second favorite book, with Devil in Winter as the first first fave, in this series. I'm eager to read your reviews on these and CTC.

Dhestiny- You will LOVE the Wallflower series, well at least I think you will! My favorite was It Happened One Autumn! Mmm, it was quite delish!! Westcliff is one of my favorite heroes!

I know what you mean about having to think about your review for CtC, I had to gather my thoughts on that one too! It was just such an emotional read for me and it went deep! Can't wait to read your thoughts!

I am now reading
Worth Any Price by Lisa Kleypas. I am LOVING it to death! I think the hero and heroine are absolutely wonderful and I am in love with Nick Gentry, he will be added to my favorite heroes! He is incredible!

Thanks for the recommend. I added it to my TBR list! I've been writing down thoughts on CtC in a Word document because there are so many... thoughts, that is. Today or tomorrow I'll have it all done. I don't want to feel like I'm rambling, ya know!?
