Sophia wrote: "What a hoot, Talia! Haha!"I made a pre-order for it. My 7 yr old will love it. She told me she thinks that the Mr Darcy bust is beautiful.
Just finished Mrs Collins, Against Her Wishes. Another Sharknado type book, though this one is more like Sharknado 2 so not very good. I just wanted to read a book where Elizabeth marries Mr Collins. :)I read Yours Forevermore, Darcy last week. Loved it as others will. She is a wonderful writer. Best bio in JAFF as well. :)
I reread Mr. Darcy's Refuge: A Pride & Prejudice Variation yesterday. This has my absolute favorite Jane romance in it. So great!
Sophia wrote: "Now that got my attention, Talia. I love it when Jane's romance is a good one."I keep going back to it because Jane's reasoning makes sense. Love it!
The only thing I didn't love about that book was Colonel Fitzwilliam. I like him to be 100% in Darcy's corner. Mr Bennet was really annoying too, but I could see the justification for that even as I wanted to inflict violence on him! Great read though :)

He did step into the lion's den to protect Darcy and Elizabeth. Ah well, it gives me another reason to go back and read it again!
Well that wasn't his initial behaviour, and it was that I didn't like. It made me pull this face when I read it :-o But I won't say more for fear of spoilers.

I won't either.
So excited. It seems Joanna Starnes will have a new book out on the 23rd of Sept.
Good reads just ate my comment!I am lucky, I have an early copy of Joana's book because she's coming to visit my blog in early Oct.

I think you are allowed. How could you not?!
Ahhhh, I love it when a book is worthy of many re-reads. I still need to read it for the first time.
Sophia wrote: "Ahhhh, I love it when a book is worthy of many re-reads. I still need to read it for the first time."It is one of my faves. I just love it.
Finished The Recovery of Fitzwilliam Darcy today. Another winner by Lucy S. I loved this storyline. There are a lot of new characters but they are all well thought out. As with any blog posts that we copy and put in a "book" form, there is a lot of repetition. It is not the author's fault because it was written as posts and not as a book. In fact, if read as posts, the repetition would be helpful. Wonderful writing.
Sophia wrote: "Ah, sweet that you found another one to love."There is so much JAFF that is wonderful. Thanks for this one! (It took forever to read!)
Haha, Talia! Sometimes a story needs a lot of elbow room to develop. I just finished a non-JAFF historical that was over 600 pages and it was so gripping that I felt like it was half that.

Thunder on the Plains by Rosanne Bittner. It's a love saga that is set against the building of the transcontinental railroad.

You will enjoy 54 and 55. I loved them both and both are totally different writing styles. Enjoy!
I did enjoy them, thx!! :) I should have mentioned that #54-58 are books I have read. Lol, I won't put up a list of books to be read...too much pressure!(silly as that seems) :)
Okay, so it's a day shy of October yet, and am not sure I will get another full book in by tomorrow. My overall tally is 65 books in this challenge. My books I read in Sept are:1. Bits of Ribbon and Lace - Zoe Burton - 5 star
2. Her Good Opinion - Eden Forster - 5 star
3. Four Days in April - Maria Grace - 5 star
4. Darcy's Unrelieved Ardor - Lori Lipps - 5 star
5. Darcy and Elizabeth - Answered Prayers - Mary Lydon Simonsen - 5 star
6. Sun-Kissed: Effusions of Summer - Christina Boyd - 4 star
7. Sketching Character - Pamela Lynne - 5 star
8. Love Lasts Longest - Rose Fairbanks - 5 star
9. The Return - Timothy Underwood - 5 star
I feel I did pretty good, despite being busy with work and family!!! Okay looking forward to checking more off my list!!! And I will be starting to read Kirk's suggestion of The Annotated Persuasion by JA and David M Shapard.

Most impressive! :)
Erika wrote: "What can I say I love my books!!! Go with me everywhere!!"To quote my beloved Marianne Dashwood in the films(not sure if it's in the book)...."that's the way it should be!"
Wow, you guys! I feel like the little kid begging for the big kids to 'wait for me'. Haha!
Love seeing all the reading everyone is getting done and that the books were enjoyable is even better.
@Erika- I always have to have a book or my e-reader with me like Linus and his security blanket. ;)

@Sophia, yes now it's my iPhone or iPad with my apps - Kindle, Nook, iBooks - that is glued to me!! Though I bought all the Annotated JA books (except Mansfield Park - which isn't completed yet) by David M Shapard in paperback. So I'll get to feel a book again for awhile!! Lol
I have Sense & Sensibility Annotated Edition-it was my splurge for the big 200th anniversary year, but I still need to get the others. Yep, that stack will keep you busy with paper copies for a long while. ;)

I finished Earning Darcy's Trust: A Pride & Prejudice Variation which I give three stars. I enjoyed the beginning of the book, I loved the new Caroline angle, but I found it lacking feeling in places. I think that perhaps if the author had spent more time with it that this book could have been fantastic.
@ Erika, and Sophia... Always have to have a book. The girl who does my hair thinks it's weird that I read while my hair is processing. I think being stuck for 30 min is an opportune time! Now I just need to get my boss to let me read at work
Oh Talia! You asked for it. Buahaha!
Just kidding, it's not that dramatic.
The David Shapard's Annotated Editions are Jane Austen's novels with David's notes in the margins and footnotes at the bottom. You get helpful explanations about customs of the time, plots, characters, maps, charts. The best way I can describe it is that he answers your question or moment of confusion right when you have it. You get the benefit of scholarly notes without needing to be a scholar to understand them. :) I found it surprising how many times I didn't even realize I was misinterpreting something because I was filtering Jane Austen's words through my modern thinking until reading the annotated version of the book. There are others beyond David Shapard who have done annotated versions, but his seem to be the most popular. Hope that helps explain the enthusiasm, Talia. :)

Haha! I get strange looks when I whip out a book in different places. I have yet to work a job that I could get some reading in, either.

Now that I don't know. Maybe one of the other members has read both. I've actually only read the S&S one and a few detailed reviews on the other novels.

This one seems to be popular as well. Anyone else read these?

Good news! My husband was able to order both of the annotated editions above for me from the university library. I have the Cambridge edition P & P already. I am looking forward to comparing them.
I would love to hear more thoughts on these if people have read them.

My stylist is so used to me reading that she now tends to quietly interrupt me when it's time to wash my hair. She doesn't want to startle me. It helps she loves JA and P&P in particular!!
I work in Home Health and am in my car or patient's home 8 hrs a day. Some days a patient will cancel their visit or I have 15-30 min before the next patient that I will park somewhere close and read a little.
Erika, I love hearing how you squeeze reading into your day! Ever since I bought my iPad 6 plus last December and discovered JAFF ... I read everywhere!!! I've enjoyed 100+ books since then, most on my phone, some on my kindle paperwhite... Best reading experiences ever for me!!!
Claudine, I am hopelessly addicted the the written word. And generally if it is in the fashion of P&P and other JA works!!!!! I think this addiction is healthier than most!!!! If I haven't read a part of a book at some point during the day, I am jonesing!!!!! LOL
