Serendipity | 441 comments This one is a bit of a challenge for me. Nothing the fits perfectly on my TBR. So I’m either going to wait and hope something perfect is released next year or put in my path to stumble across. Or else fudge the wordings of the emotions a little and read Sorry I’m Late, I Didn’t Want to Come or The Sound and the Fury.

message 3: by Angie (new)

Angie | 65 comments I have a bunch that fit, but I am planning on The Valley of Fear by Arthur Conan Doyle. A while back, I bought audiobook of the Complete Sherlock Holmes narrated by Stephen Fry. This seems like a perfect excuse to read it.

message 4: by Jennifer AM (new)

Jennifer AM | 21 comments I'm planning on reading Rage Becomes Her: The Power of Women's Anger. I started it in 2019 but didn't get to finish it before it had to go back to the library.

message 5: by [deleted user] (last edited Nov 12, 2019 02:31PM) (new)

Does 'Madness' count? Thinking of this book The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie I think it means he's an arse who will be Reformed by the plucky heroine LOL :)

eta: I found another one on my TBR list which might fit better Sweet Tea and Sympathy

message 6: by Pam (new)

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 3839 comments The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter - It's been on my shelf for years and the first book I thought of, so that's my choice. This one I plan to lock in!

message 12: by dalex (new)

dalex (912dalex) | 2646 comments For this prompt I read Child of a Mad God by R.A. Salvatore. It was a typical tropey epic fantasy (but that's not a bad thing!) with excellent world building and great characterization. 4 Stars.

theStorykeeper | 6 comments I have Happiness by Will Ferguson on my TBR.

Emily (emilyesears) | 412 comments I read The Happiness Project: Or Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun and I picked it because it had been on my TBR since 2017 and this prompt was a good excuse to get to it.

If I may offer my input, there are some gems in this book but a lot of it is unrelatable or not possible unless you live in a big city and/or have expendable income.
Also, I listened to the audio version and Gretchen Rubin's voice drove me crazy.

Melissa (melthereader) | 21 comments Yes! (Goodreads needs a "like" option on comments)

2. How did you choose this book? I've read several of his books, and it seemed a good fit for the PS - map prompt. It was serendipitous that I discovered that it would fit this prompt, which I felt would be hard to fulfill.

The Chapter Conundrum (Stacey) | 43 comments I think I'm going for either Sadie by Courtney Summers or The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton because I have both of those on my shelf at the moment passed onto me from my sister. :)

This will be my choice for this prompt since it interests me a lot especially given the current situation here in the US and I really enjoyed the actress on what I've seen so far of Orange Is the New Black.

Love From A to Z by S.K. Ali - 5 stars!

2. How did you choose this book?
I originally put down The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan, but I came across this other book and loved it. I had to fit it in my ATY list somewhere, and this is where it fit. Oh, this can also be put in prompt 26. A book from the 2019 Goodreads Choice Awards. It was a nominee.

message 33: by Ruth (new)

MN (mnfife) I read Nancy Mitford, Love in a Cold Climate for this prompt. It made me laugh aloud.

message 36: by Kim (new)

Kim | 22 comments I just finished Her Fearful Symmetry and wow what an unusual book!

Picked it because it had been on my TBR list since reading the Time Traveler's Wife, and I was curious about her second novel.

Suzanne | 349 comments 1. What are you reading for this category?
The Ministry of Utmost Happiness by Arundhati Roy

2. How did you choose this book?
I am working through the Abe List of 100 Essential Female Writers this year. I found a match with "happiness" for a book by an author I had not yet read. I loved this book so much. I have not loved most of the books that I have read on the Abe List but this one was fantastic and I plan to read more by Arundhati Roy.

message 40: by Shelley (new)

Shelley | 423 comments I read Hope Never Dies, the Biden/Obama mystery. It was very odd reading it during the current political climate.

message 41: by Entropia (new)

Entropia | 283 comments Would having word "emotion" in the title be too much of a cheating? ;) (the book is about emotions)

message 42: by Milena (new)

Milena (milenas) | 760 comments 1. What are you reading for this category?
The Happy Ever After Playlist
2. How did you choose this book?

message 43: by Sherri (new)

Sherri Harris | 1493 comments I read Pride,Prejudice, and Other Flavors by Sonali Dev. I read it for a different challenge. I was looking at unfinished prompts for ATY. I was going to use it # 10 A book between 400-600 pages. Then I was Oh Yeah, there's an emotion in the title. # 24 has been a hard prompt for me to fill so I put it there.

message 44: by Laurel (new)

Laurel Kristick | 874 comments 1. What are you reading for this category? The Fear Hunter by Elise Sax
2. How did you choose this book? Scanned TBR list for emotions

message 46: by Jackie, Solstitial Mod (new)

Jackie | 2450 comments Mod
Ok, I need some additional opinions. Is 'haunted' an emotion? I checked out Shirley Jackson: A Rather Haunted Life from the library and now I'm torn on whether or not 'haunted' is an emotion.

message 47: by Joanne (last edited Jun 28, 2020 07:30PM) (new)

Joanne | 477 comments I ended up reading Ten Things I Love About You (Bevelstoke, #3) by Julia Quinn which was kind of a freebie for me. I had planned on picking it up anyway and then noticed that it fit the month I was on, so I slotted it in. I'm working on the challenge a month at a time.

message 48: by Jackie, Solstitial Mod (new)

Jackie | 2450 comments Mod
I ended up switching to The Valley of Fear, since fear is more definitely an emotion than 'haunted'. Pretty good, but The Hound of the Baskervilles still reigns as my favorite Holmes story.

message 49: by Alesha (new)

Alesha (musicgal17) | 39 comments 1. What are you reading for this category?
Only Mostly Devastated by Sophie Gonzales

2. How did you choose this book?
I browsed through my TBR shelf and made a (quite short!) list of books that qualified for this prompt. It came down to this and More Happy Than Not, (both of which fit this prompt and the LGBTQIA+ prompt), but I decided to slot More Happy Than Not in the LGBTQIA+ prompt.

4 stars. Overall, a cute, easy-to-read, and fun YA contemporary romance.

message 50: by Virginia (new)

Virginia (dogdaysinaz) | 54 comments 1. What are you reading for this category?
I read The Grapes of Wrath for this prompt.
The Grapes of Wrath
2. How did you choose this book?
I am trying to complete my challenge with books I own for #unreadshelfproject and I'm also working on #20classicsin2020. I have a fantastic set of Steinbeck books from the older version of Book of the Month Club and this book fit a lot of criteria! I am currently reading The Hate U Give but I got it from the library so I am not counting it.
