I think the UK told Mac that she'd owe him if he stopped Cruce? Then when she agreed he said he was going to do it anyway lol I like the Unseelie king myself.

I know right. I just want to get to the tidbits about Dani. Especially when Mac started rambling about Georgia, her dad, and them magnolia's she feels the need to reiterate and describe every book. I'll really miss Dani being primary POV. That girl was way more straightforward, and cut unnecessary shit out. And Mac, is acting totally crazy! What the hell? Does she own Dani? How dare she think she can tattoo her? When Mac herself went all ape shit when Barrons tattooed her. I'm glad Dani ran away lol. I would too.
Yeah and I agree Mac thinks she's infallible. Everyone talks about how Dani think's she's unstoppable, but to a certain extent she really is. And her inflamed ego can be blamed on her teenager angst. I find Mac super fecking irritating with her constant stream of superiority BS. It reminds me of when Dani killed the US prince, and Mac got all angry that she didn't get to kill the prince. Like no offense to Mac fans, but she's pretty weak. I don't think she could have, even if she got the chance. The only thing Mac has going for her are the random Deus ex machina's popping up everywhere to save her ass at the last minute.
LOL. I didn't even realise how much I dislike Mac until now. Rant over.
Dani is arrogant, yes, but she has every right to be I think. She is truly big and bad and powerful all on her own, without the help of a certain book inside someone's body to help boost her big bad level. I always felt that Mac had to try to keep up with all of these powerful people she's surrounded by.
I still like Mac, but she's not as cool and kick butt as she thinks. I mean she can freeze fae, briefly, and she can fight and is fast to some extent, but her main super power is her body and the way she looks, take that away and she would never have gotten so far ahead in the books. She has her dark glassy lake but it isn't worth much if she can't use it without going completely over. Now she heals fast and won't age normally in the world their living in now, anyone else would be excited about that because it gives them an advantage, but what did she do? She complained about it, like oh no I only wanted to live 80 years maybe 100, that'd be enough. And how when Barrons told her she was on her last chance with him in Shadowfever, she was like really he'd leave me, like he'd keep giving her everything and get nothing in return but snark and a bad attitude, like she kept expected that of it, to just always be there and exist for her, because oOh he wants to have sex with her. And all she cared about was making the bookstore hers, and wanting his lambo and viper. And I kind of get sick of her talking about her DADDY, daddy this and daddy that, and I'm his princess and warrior. I like her better for the rough time she's had, but guess what Mac everyone has had a rough time, at least she still has parents alive an well. I hope she can grow up more, and put someone else first. Even with all her abilities (which still isn't much), if you don't count her inner demon, she's only slightly strong than Kate and Jo and the rest, her real power was always having Barrons and V'lane behind her, and even with V'lane because she was withholding sex and because of her looks she had him running errands for her and doing whatever she wanted, and kept expecting it giving nothing in return. Since she changed some from the beginning of the series I keep hoping she'll get better, but the girl she once was "rainbow" the one she keeps saying she isn't anymore keeps cropping back up.
I'm really relectant to read this book...with all the Mac/Barrons hype....i was so done with them and ready for some Ryo/ Dani time!!! :'(
Wow, guys! So much bagging on Mac! lol. I am not her biggest fan, but I do think she is a lovable, well-rounded character. I think KMM did a great job creating a realistic human character surrounded by many other powerful beings and trying to make her way in the world. Here is to hoping that Burned is still awesome and that there will be tons of crazy Dani to balance Mac out!
What I like about Dani that greatly differs from Mac, is that she's independent and has always been. She was never coddled and babied. Dani on her own can take care of herself, and she doesn't make excuses. Dani has been through some crap and doesn't pity herself, or lash out at people when she doesn't get her way. Dani doesn't need Ryodan or a fae prince, or anyone else to fall back on her take care of her, and comfort her or run her errands and protect her like Mac has. Dani has never blamed other people like why weren't you there watching me and taking care of me, and than get pissed at them when they do that same thing, when they actual do those things she tells them and acts like oh I can take care of myself, stuff like that. Dani on her own is fine, Mac wouldn't make it on her own. Dani is strong an fast (I can't remember any other super powers), but that isn't the only thing she has going for her, its her inner strength of her she is, acting badass but knowing her limits.
I do like Mac I mean it really isn't her fault she has awesome parents who raised her, babied her, gave her a sheltered safe like, and anything she wanted. I think she is doing great considering that's what she started out with when she came to Dublin. She had to learn from scratch because she knew NOTHING about that life, killing, fae, magic, none of it. She had to adapt and change very quickly. Dani grew up around all of it and though she was young she had way way more experience then Mac did.

Ughh... and then she acts all condescendingly concerned about Dani. But, Dani can actually take care of herself, she's self sufficient. Mac on the other hand...

I just think Mac's character is pretty realistic. No, she isn't super kick-butt powerful and doesn't always have the answers. Neither would I if I got thrown into that world! Yes, Dani has super powers, but she is still vulnerable and needy. Mac is the first person to really love and befriend her in a sisterly way and it made a big difference in Dani's life. And yeah she acts pretty annoying and high-handed about the tattoo, but I would probably say the same thing in her situation... she is freaking out and worried about her little sister!

And also that she doesn't take responsibility for anything. It's always other people's fault. If anything happens. Like when she killed Barrons with her own hands and then tried to shove the blame of Barrons death onto Ryodan. Like what the hell? She was all 'omg he tricked me!' 'It's all Ryodan's fault.'
Holy bullshitting bullshitters. Mac, needs to stop expecting everyone to cater to her wishes. I actually liked Mac for the first three books, she knew her own limits and didn't shove needless blame onto everyone. I feel like her character has regressed in terms of maturity.
Cookie wrote: "OMG okay so I took the quiz again to try to get Ryodan. Then I read his description and here's what it said:"You’re a brilliant strategist: Machiavelli, Napoleon, Charlemagne and Sun T’zu all rol..."
Interesting! Especially the part about not letting his feelings decide for him. What plans does he really have for Dani? It can't be romantic plans, though I hope that part happens anyway.
I wonder why Dani went into Faery to hide from the nine. Has she done something really bad?
And Mac made a promise not to kill the Gray Woman, byt she has. Whyyy?
Is there any point for Ryodan to go after Dani in Faery? I thought that place was endless.
I am also glad Mac cares about finding Dani. Jo is probably happy Dani is gone.
What about Cruce?
Too many questions in my head.

So to me it came off like you better have her tattoo when she comes out. I don't know.

Winnie, my head was spinning. There has to be a way for Ryodan to go in faery if Dani got in there. Jo won't be happy because he won't be there. He got to find Dani. Lol.
so I am excited to see how crazy he gets looking for her.
Samantha wrote: "Winnie wrote: "Cookie wrote: "OMG okay so I took the quiz again to try to get Ryodan. Then I read his description and here's what it said:"You’re a brilliant strategist: Machiavelli, Napoleon, Ch..."
Lol. Imagine Jo waiting dutifully for five years in the outside world for Ryodan her beloved, who's looking to find Dani. And then when he returns with 19 year old Dani, totally disregarding Jo. Muhahaha. Oh the angsty possibilities have just multiplied. So do you guys think that's how Dani ages? Five years spent in the wild worlds of Faery would definitely make her more worldly.
Why Dani went in to feary! 1 she wanted to get away from the peeps that is always trying to tell her what to do.2 she knows if she is in feary they can not trac her.3 at the end of Iced she says she wants to take a road trip around Ireland, looks like Dani change her mind and went to feary rather. 4 when Dani was in the UK library with Christian she thinks by herself that this is a cool place to explore she even says just imagine the weapons one might find.5 in the Lor sex scene the UPrincess says to Lor one off your kind let as free!!!just after she says they where stack in a library.6 Dani went to faery because somebody is dead and she can not cope or she felt trap needed to be alone? The thing is feary is dangerous and she have the ability to get in trouble!! So when she gets out of feary it will not be the same Dani that went into feary.Barrons will not let Mac follow Dani because the book might be able to control her easier in feary. The other thing is I do think Dani is already tattooed by Ryodan it happened in the beginning of iced, that is why Barron's says you know our tattoos don't work right from the walls fell? pleural as if there r more peeps with tattoos not just Mac that we know off!
Inanda wrote: "Why Dani went in to feary! 1 she wanted to get away from the peeps that is always trying to tell her what to do.2 she knows if she is in feary they can not trac her.3 at the end of Iced she says s..."Yeah. I'm pretty sure when she woke up in the dungeon and the back of her skull felt sore, it was actually an indicator of her being tattooed.
Samantha wrote: "Nope. She won't be in there the whole five years."I hope she won't. I actually wanted to see Dani growing up and see her teen years.
Do you think we'll maybe get like a montage of her from 14-16 or something. And then she'll get stuck in Faery?
In the teaser they said she's been missing for 3 weeks. When christian went AWOL in faery he was gone for a month right? And he aged 3 years? so Dani must have aged atleast 2 a bit years in faery.
Lol. I don't know if I agreed with all of your thoughts with why she is in faery. Oh yeah. She has something. The back of her head was hurting.
Inanda wrote: "Why Dani went in to feary! 1 she wanted to get away from the peeps that is always trying to tell her what to do.2 she knows if she is in feary they can not trac her.3 at the end of Iced she says s..."It's likely no. 6. I feel as though the whole 'one day u'll get dancer killed' was foreshadowing for his 'death' in this book. It's also the only thing I think will effect her so emotionally that she'll break down. Obviously, Dancer will turn out to be immortal or something else later on though.
@Kristen, I have to disagree with you about Mac. Up until Alina died, she had never experienced any true hardship in her life at all. The worst thing she ever experienced was some bad dates and her favorite shade of nail polish being discontinued. I think Mac is an extremely realistic character considering the life she had before Alina died. She is a 22 year old self-centered girl that still lived at home with her parents and had to ask them permission to do things. Everything that happens to her in the first 5 books takes place over a 6 month period, of which she lost 1 in faery and 2-3 being pri-ya. While Mac changes pretty drastically in what only feels like three months to her, of course vestiges of who she was before still linger. People don't/can't make a complete change that quickly.
As for her blaming things on everyone else when something goes wrong, that is also pretty true for her background and generation. I also blame that on her often being in denial.
I like when Mac talks about her daddy... some of the things she quotes from him are my favorite passages of the books. But, I'm completely with you on Mac's constant droning on about the waxy magnolia lined streets of Georgia, blah, blah, blah! LOL. I also get tired of the phrase "mercenary to the core" and her description of Barrons having one foot in the swamp, blah, blah, blah. It is so unnecessarily repetitive.

I think something like that. Some time out. E time in.
I have this bet with myself. I have theory's of all my favorite book series!! before a new book comes out I make a list with all that I think is going to happen in the book. Then as they come true I mark them off this shows me if I know what is happening in there world and if I really understand the series!
Ha ha silly I know!!! But it is so much fun and if more then half of my theories comes true I get a pamper day at the spa!!!
Yes you need to spoil your self after all your suffering! Ha ha ha and after finishing Burned the new wait for Feverborne starts!! So your soul is going to need sum pampering!! Spa Day !!!!And one off my predictions is that Burned is going to end with a BIG CLIFFHANGER!!
Inanda wrote: "Yes you need to spoil your self after all your suffering! Ha ha ha and after finishing Burned the new wait for Feverborne starts!! So your soul is going to need sum pampering!! Spa Day !!!!And one ..."Gasp. Cliffhanger? LOL. NO WAY. That's so NOT KMM's style... ;)
Ha ha ha just a theory Fresiako!!! If I get a lot wrong no spa day!!! My list only allows 10 theories !!! So if the gliffhanger is wrong there r still nine to go!! Nine ha ha
Dude no shit!!! Ha ha yes that will be painful!!! Where do you think that teaser is in the book!! It feels like chapter 3 or 5 to me?
Inanda wrote: "Dude no shit!!! Ha ha yes that will be painful!!! Where do you think that teaser is in the book!! It feels like chapter 3 or 5 to me?"I'd say it'd be in the first half of the book, definitely.
Woah, spa day! Awesome! lol usually reading is my guilty pleasure.... imagine if I got rewarded for it! Nice!Maybe Dani goes into faerie to track Christian down? Would the Hag go to faerie to find more immortal guts? I will be super angry if we skip all of Dani's growing years. If Ryo follows her to faerie I hope they are there together and that there is a lot of interaction.
Yes Dani and Ryodan alone together can just mean one thing!!!! Lots and lots of emotions between the two of them!
Yeah... constant bickering and funny dialog. Dani attacking Ryodan until they have to be a team to work against anything that endangers them.
In the new Burned teaser about how Mac killed one of the guardians when she blacked out, maybe she didn't since the book is constantly playing with her, it's possible it just wanted to see her suffer an innocence death. But if she did kill him, she says she's going to have to make it right, how exactly can you make something like that right? I also think Ryodan's attachment to Dani is kind of funny, and Lor calling that unseelie master and being owned. Especially after all the crap they gave Mac about Barrons and the more he wants her the more likely they'll kill her, and she's safer away from him. When both the women (girls) in their lives either know more about them species wise than Mac, or can easily find out because they're not stupid if they take an interest, and the more Ryodan tries to connect and get close to Dani in any capacity the more she's going to want to know about him.
I do love there funny dialog!!! Don't throw Mac and Barron's away thy can be just as funny!! I like the bit in the teaser where thy r going on about bewitched!!! I laughed so hard because Barron's watching the tv show is funny!!
lol. that's what I loved about Iced... it made me laugh so much. Good questions Kristen! I can't even remember who the guardians are. Can someone refresh my memory?
That part made me laugh too, Inanda! What makes it so much funnier is Barrons denying he watched the show.
Yea Mac and Barrons are pretty funny. I keep picturing Barrons trying to twitch his nose when Macs not around.
I read the Lor sex scene again and it seems like there r more then 1 UPrincess !!! She says there a singular entity !! Thy where stuck in the library and one of your kind let us out. Snap !!the scene where the names of the nine appear might be the UPrincess . The princess tells Lor she knows what there kind are !! And what thy can do. It sounds like the UPrincess r cunning for the nine? Because sex with the nine r better then human men? She also says that men have to much power on this planet and thy r going to change that.
