This book was ok, but seemed to be lacking in comparison to other books in this series. I love small town romances and with this series being set in my home state I enjoy the references to local culture. I was surprised that this book was about Elliott and Karen since their story was told in a previous book. This story revolved around them working to maintain their marriage. Karen was whiny and kept repeatedly making incorrect assumptions about Elliott. He was withholding information from her, which was wrong, but he had her best interests in mind. I enjoyed the secondary characters, especially Adelia and Frances, and I hope we see more of them in future books. I like Sherryl Woods so I will continue with this series and hope the next book is better.

Book: Law Man by Kristen Ashley (Dream man, Book 3)
Read: 12/13
Rating & Review: ★★★★.
Wow. I think I'm definitely giving KA another chance. I had written her off after hating Rock Chick 1 and Dream Man 1. I was supposed to read Book 2, but picked up book 3 by accident. It saved KA from the throwaway pile.
Mara Hanover has been through some experiences that knocked her self esteem down so she sees herself as a 2.5 on a scale of 10.
Imagine her horror even her neighbor, a detective Mitch Lawson, speaks to her because he is a solid 10. She was convinced it was pity and even if he was interested, she didn't have the requisite goods to keep him.
But then her train wreck of a cousin got arrested for being a junkie and a dealer, so Mara became guardian to a 4yr old girl Billie and a 9yr old boy Billy and Mitch just shined her. He had to prove his interest was genuine and Mara's low self made it difficult but Mitch worked for it.
I just enjoyed this story. It had chemistry, family, drama and love. I liked the writing, so I have to go back to book 2.

Book: Before Jamaica Lane by Samantha Young (On Dublin Street, Book 3)
Read: 12/14
Rating & Review: ★★★★.
I really liked this book but I can also see that this author is sticking with a certain formula. Sex with no strings, until one person gets caught up. Then they end it until the 2nd party realizes they are in love too.
Olivia and Nate were a really good couple but the idea that best friends think they can be friends with benefits and things will remain the same is Ludicrous. This book was better than the last one though.

I am really liking his fast paced series.Just when I think I know what will happen next something else happens...looking forward to next book.
I’d rather face a dozen lethal assassins any night than deal with something as tricky, convoluted, and fragile as my feelings.
But here I am. Gin Blanco, the semi-retired assassin known as the Spider. Hovering outside sexy businessman Owen Grayson’s front door like a nervous teenage girl. One thing I like about Owen: he doesn’t shy away from my past—or my present. And right now I have a bull’s-eye on my forehead.
Cold-blooded Fire elemental Mab Monroe has hired one of the smartest assassins in the business to trap me. Elektra LaFleur is skilled and efficient, with deadly electrical elemental magic as potent as my own Ice and Stone powers. Which means there’s a fifty-fifty chance one of us won’t survive this battle. I intend to kill LaFleur—or die trying—because Mab wants the assassin to take out my baby sister, Detective Bria Coolidge, too.
The only problem is, Bria has no idea I’m her long-lost sibling . . . or that I’m the murderer she’s been chasing through Ashland for weeks. And what Bria doesn’t know just might get us both dead. . . .

Shadows Before the Sun by Kelly Gay (Charlie Madigan #4)
Finished: 16 December 2014

Book four in the Charlie Madigan UF series, a.k.a. "the one in which major shit goes down", is hands down the best book in the series next to its opener The Better Part of Darkness, perhaps even surpassing it in terms of action, emotional impact and unputdownableness (Yes, I know that's not a word. I'm still inexplicably fond of it and therefore using it.). After her partner Hank was kidnapped at the end of the last book, Charlie takes a trip to Elysia, to the siren city of Fiallan, to rescue him - with an unexpected companion to share her journey. There she must grow into her powers and face the powerful Circe to retrieve her partner - or what's left of him after the torture they've put him through. She also encounters a mysterious stranger who offers her a cure for ash in exchange for bringing him an ancient artifact, which turns out to be far easier said than done. And finally, there is the powerful entity Sachâth that is coming for her and as good as impossible to kill...
A great read that left me hoping that there'll be more books to come in the series.

Cole and Savannah have sizzling chemistry but it was nice to see them each overcome their fear of abandonment and trust each other. It seems like this is a recurring theme of the women chosen by the Riley men so far in this series though. They have all had to make it on their own after rough pasts and learn to trust the man in their life. But I still love the Riley family that this series is centered around...they are always meddling in each other's business. I enjoyed catching up with the other couples from the previous books and to finally see Liz and Gavin tie the knot. I will continue with the series and look forward to Cole's sister, Alicia's story in the next book.

Crossing my fingers that the team roll is a 3 or less tonight. hehehehe

I really like this series. Each story could stand alone but they all intertwine together.
Beauty resents being labeled Gift Species. Everyone is way too overprotective, males aren’t even allowed to speak to her and so far true freedom eludes her. Then a big, sexy Species officer mistakes her for the enemy and takes her to the ground.
Shadow is dumbfounded. He has a Gift pinned under him—a big no-no. But Beauty is fascinated and wants to know Shadow a lot better. She is full of newly discovered, unrequited passion and he’s just what she needs to satisfy her curiosity.
For Shadow, sex means pain and revulsion. For Beauty, it was enslavement and ridicule. Two lonely souls who have never known a lover’s touch, together in a cabin in the woods. Each touch, every discovery brings them closer to a life they never thought possible…beyond even their dreams.

I loved Ben McDaniel in the last book of this series so I was looking forward to reading this book. Aubrey was not a very likable character in previous books, but she redeemed herself in this one. I admired her for making amends for things she had done in her past. I enjoyed the funny banter as well as the sizzling romance between them. Lucky Harbor is one of my favorite series and I just love Jill Shalvis' writing style.

The ninth installment in what is easily one of my favourite mystery series sees Sebastian St. Cyr cross paths with members of the French royal family living as emigrés in London 20 years after the executions of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. The murder of a French physician whom Paul Gibson finds in a dark alley with his heart cut out leads Sebastian into an investigation that might end up not only revealing a murderer but also shedding light on the 18 year old mystery of the Lost Dauphin...
A great, gripping read as always - eagerly awaiting the next part!

Book: Motorcycle Man by Kristen Ashley (Dream Man, Book 4)
Read: 12/20
Rating & Review: ★★★.
I'm rounding up because it's really 2.5 for me. I LOVED book 2. I want to read it again. This one, not so much.
Tack and Tyra/Cherry never grew on me. It's hard redeeming a guy who says he does not work with bitches who've had my dick in the mouth. That's as memorable as You had me at hello.
So Tack started and stayed on my bad side. Tyra needs to avoid tequila, because she's stupid on tequila.
I realized that I don't hate KA and her writing, just some of her characters. So I'll go finish book 2 which I'm actually enjoying

Book: Gabriel's Mate (Book 3, Scanguard Vampires)
Read: 12/23
Rating & Review: ★★★¾. I liked this one. Gabriel is the #2 in Samson's Scanguard Vampire operation when Samson asks him to assist with the integration of a newly turned vampire Dr. Maya.
Gabriel is so turned on by her, but he can't do anything with her because his man-sword is deformed. Due to his issues with his junk, Gabriel has always gone for prostitutes and quickies with people he can hypnotize and wipe their minds, never a real relationship with someone he cared about.
when Mara rejects human blood, she is forced to drink Gabriel's blood but the intimacy of the act is driving them sexually insane. What is Gabriel to do about his man junk issues? can it be fixed, if not, will Mara accept his deformed man-sword?
I haven't read her other series, but I understand that Tina Folsom did a crossover here. Apparently, Gabriel is half vampire/ half satyr, so that's the problem with his johnson. I swear I found this book amusing, though my husband didn't think my jokes were funny!
