I could suggest The Wild Boys... the cover is not that embarassing, but when you start reading the book you feel like everybody is looking at you and knows what you're reading LOL There are so many crude man-man sex scenes in that book, that I think I could give a class on it now LOL

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments Pragya, I found something available at my local library. However, I will have to roll for another task before I know what I have to offer, which I'm willing to do now that I've already completed almost 3 of my 4 books. Here goes...

I got a 14 so that puts me on square 3, read a book with a character "nutty as a fruitcake." I don't have anything planned yet for that task, but will start gophering some. Let me know if you want this task and I'll swap you for the embarrassing book cover one.

message 253: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1786 comments Three more books are completed:

Round Three , The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Round Eight, Jane and Prudence by Barbara Pym
Round Nine, Star Guard by Andre Norton

message 254: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1786 comments I have also rolled for three more books:

I am sitting at 35 after round ten;

I have rolled 11 which lands me on 6 = Oriental Avenue – My mind keeps thinking of Murder on the Orient Express. Read a murder mystery or true life murder book. for Round Eleven. I will read Endless Night by Agatha Christie

Next roll is a 3 which lands me on 9 = Talosians (Star Trek Limited Edition) – The classic original series led to movies and spinoffs, and this episode won a Hugo award. Read a classic, or a book you believe should be a classic (and justify why). for Round Twelve. I will read Excellent Women by Barbara Pym

Last roll is 14 which lands me on 23 = Indiana Avenue – Offhand, Indiana doesn’t seem like it would have much to attract visitors (other than Indianapolis Speedway). But everywhere has something unique. Read a book that’s hopefully a hidden gem, one that’s been overlooked, but you’ve discovered it by accident or research or a referral. for Round Thirteen. I will read Mount Appetite by Bill Gaston

message 258: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments I'm gonna chance my book about a place I want to visit sometime into: Wicked Hunger. It takes place in New Mexico. I've only been to the U.S.A. once (for 1 day and 1 night, in Miami - our flight from Bolivia, where my sister lives, got changed, so we had an extra day) and would really like to see more of it...
So this will be my new book for round 1.

Okay, Pragya. I haven't started so still good to swap. I'm taking your "embarrassing cover" task, and you're taking my "nutty as a fruitcake" task : )

The book I'll be reading is The Mile High Club, which is embarrassing on many levels. It's such silliness for one thing, and then the title is pretty embarrassing if you think about it, and last but not least the art work on the cover is also embarrassing!! This could be fun ; )

Lol and also the author's name!

Thanks for swapping. I am waiting for Jmom's approval for either of my choice of books for nutty task -
The Pleasure of My Company
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

Gail, please note the swap between me and Tejas Janet. Thanks!

Gail (appleshoelace) | 779 comments Hi everyone - when you post to let me know you've done a swap, can you let me know which rounds you're swapping from. (I figured out Tejas Janet and Pragya, but can you do this for future. I get easily confused!)

I think this book does go all over in terms of embarrassing. Maybe you should get more points than just 10 for it. :p

Gail, Sorry we didn't specify the rounds we were swapping! Here's that info...

Pragya's swapping her round 4 embarrassing task(square 24) for my round 5 nutty as a fruitcake task (square 3).

message 273: by Gail (new)

Gail (appleshoelace) | 779 comments Thanks for specifying the rounds - it really does make it easier. :-)

My head's feeling a bit fuzzy today - hope I've added it all correctly! I'm impressed by how many books people are reading. I've only read one so far, and bits of the others, but hopefully I'll complete the books for all my rolls by Saturday.

message 275: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (bd200789) I was told to to advance to GO from my feeling lucky space, and roll again. My new space is 24, Read a book with a cover that embarrasses you. I'm sure I can find one for this, since I read so many romances. That is my 13th roll.

message 276: by Rebecca (last edited Oct 21, 2014 08:47PM) (new)

Rebecca (bd200789) I have just finished my 10th roll book, Postern of Fate. I did a 14th roll and got a 9, sending me to 33, another feeling lucky space. I'll have to see what I get this time.

message 277: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1786 comments You are a speed demon on the reading front Rebecca!!

message 278: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (bd200789) I just wish I could get away from the lucky spaces. I like knowing what I need to find right away, rather than waiting. After I get this space figured out, i will roll a couple more times.

message 279: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1786 comments I haven't managed to land on a Lucky space myself and I'll only manage one more roll at most. So I guess I'll hope not to land on one.... :)

message 282: by Elsbeth (new)

Elsbeth (elsbethgm) | 1152 comments Always fun to look at the 'embarrassing' covers people chose! There are lots of books like that, I discovered. Some books just shouldn't be judged by its cover (well, some should!).
That's what I love about my ereader - no matter how embarrassing the cover - no one else can see it! Especially great when you are reading in a train! ;)

message 283: by Canadian Dragon (new)

Canadian Dragon | 1020 comments Gail I hope you are feeling a bit better today :)

Rebecca (bd200789) My lucky square gave me 10 points for donating books, and I got to roll again. My new roll 14 is 16, sending me to space 9, read a classic. I just need to decide which one. My 15th roll is 37, sending me to space 6, a murder mystery. I'm keeping this one, too. My 16th roll is 19, which gives me space 25, a science fiction or fantasy book. i may have to do some digging for this.
Roll 17 is 35, sending me to space 20, free parking. I'm very happy about that. :) Roll 18 is 18, sending me to space 38, a rarely or unread genre.

message 300: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (caveatlector) | 1786 comments I am going for broke and rolling twice more. I'm crossing my fingers that I don't end up on something I can't get!!

First one is 16 which lands me on.....39 = Barossa (Australia) – Looks like a place I’d like to visit. Read a book that takes place somewhere you’ve never been, but is on your dream list of must see places.

I can handle this, I have the perfect book set in Russia (where I'm hoping I'll still be able to go in a couple years) The Turkish Gambit by Boris Akunin.
