Review:Ms. James has done it again with The Mister. The whole story is current with today's events like sex trafficking and how it affects everyone around the world. I was blown away by the realism and heartfelt pain. I definitely recommend this book.

Review~ I would have to say that Duffy Brown's other series is probably my favorite series but this one is cute. I really enjoy the characters and Evie & Sutter are starting to steam up their relationship - it's been fun reading their banter back & forth. Irish Donna makes another appearance and of course is hilarious with her take on "normal" life happenings. The bike painting is a neat idea - would really love to see one in person. There is only one more book in this series so im looking forward to catching the series up to the next book release.

Your book choice baffles me because we're on Spot #18 there's no 2 involved. Would you please clarify your choice of book? I'm not trying to be picky just wondering.

I'd take it for the alternate, looks pretty multicoloured to me.
So Sallie, you'd just need to change the qualification part in your selection post if you want to stick with this book - because Angie's right, it doesn't work for the series number.

The bonuses are the same in both games. :)

message 60: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddisonbruce) | 3778 comments Perfect, how do I go about claiming that? Or do I just make a note on completion, and you'll note it somewhere?

Put a note in your completion post, your team captain will report it along with posting your reviews on the next roll. I'm running a tally of bonus points earned and used in the top post of each team's thread.

Review= Much better than the last one. I like the writing style and the balance between regency culture and paranormal. It was a bit slow to get going (could have been about 75 pages shorter) and the monsters were so weird I feel like they took away a bit from the atmosphere. Other than that a fun and fast read.

Review:

I'm really liking this series, it's not like high quality literature but it's quite entertaining.
The characters are the best. I love Liv, the MC, she's hard and funny, I like her way of seeing things, how she thinks and that she is rebellious haha.
The side characters are great too, we don't know much about the "bad guys", but the "good ones" I like, I'd like to see more of them sometimes.
I also love the humor in this series, I constantly find myself laughing while reading it.

Review: This book was just what I was after! So many different POVs, relationships between them, fantasy world! And the cool magic idea as well! I loved discovering how they all connected in the end, and learning about this intense political world. Normally political books aren't for me, but I felt connected enough to the characters to enjoy it!

Review: This was a great up close look at the events that lead up to WW1, and the fallout for the characters involved. The story switched between characters based in England, Germany, Russia, and the US, wealthy and poor, illustrating the stakes and toll of this long war from numerous angles. The characters were well drawn and their stories engaging. Even after 900+ pages, I was left eager to pick up the next one and continue the threads of these characters (and their descendants) lives.

Review: I'm loving this series so far. The paranormal aspects are 'heavy duty' without being gross. Love, love the setting of my former home city of San Francisco. In this installment, a demonic being is haunting the prestigious San Francisco School of Fine Arts, and possessing staff members in turn. Lily works to expel the demon, or at least seal him off. In the process, she solves a pair of present and past murders. A very good, easy read. 4.5*

Review: Dragons are my favorite magical species and I freaking love Regency and Victorian settings, so these are a given read for me. I always find them perfectly pleasant, and at the same time can't give them five stars, because something is missing. I think it's the way the writing is a bit removed (because it mimics a memior) and has bits of "author" foreshadowing every chapter, which jars you out of the actual story. Still great though.

Strip Jack by Ian Rankin
How it fits: 4th book in the Inspector Rebus series
Rating: 3 stars
Review: This is one of those detective series that gives my mind a break from heavier books. Light and amusing. Rebus is investigating a murder that turns out to be connected to a local politician while battling his fear of commitment to his girlfriend. His character injects wry humor into a storyline that sounds like it could believably make the front page of any newspaper. A quick and fun read.

I thought this was another cute installment in the series. Holly is helping her Oma to do a match making weekend for pet owners. Nothing turns out the way they thought when a participant in the weekend match making turns up dead and Holly becomes the prime suspect when "John" her match in error points the fingers towards her. The animals were cute and the mystery was pretty good although the "romance" is really lacking in this book.

Review:
I just love this book, I've never read it in english before, and I must say that I'm AMAZED of how good the spanish translation is. It is super accurate.

This is one of my favorites from the series, Iove the drama and the humor, Fred and George are great in Chamber of Secrets, Lockhart is super fun.
And what I love most of these re reads is noticing how well constructed the story is, there is so much foreshadowing here, lots of the things that are mentioned in Chamber of Secrets will return in latter books.
Also, I enjoy knowing more about Voldemort.

This book I definitely didn't find as good as #1. It started off great, with a POV of a character I love, but it turns out we only get that POV once. It was jarring to me. I didn't like the whole jealousy plot, it always irks me. And the way everyone accepts Catherine, and those who don't she wins over. I definitely did grow on the parts in the demon world. Interested in #3!
