Review: I'm enjoying these books again after a brief foray where the MC became supremely annoying. She still thinks she is smarter than the police, but that's typical for cozies and at least she's not actively trying to block their work. The mystery was easily figured out, but the background was interesting and I like the side characters.

Review:
Clara Montgomery is unemployed and currently living on her Little brothers sofa. Desperate for money she takes a job sorting through old storage units and finds information on a high profile actor. After a drunken night with her best friends she calls the actor in question and blackmails him accidentally. It was quite a funny book to begin with, but after a while it got slightly repetative and in places. They like each other, they hate each other, the like each other again. An easy quite enjoyable read.

Kill the Queen (Crown of Shards, #1) by Jennifer Estep by Jennifer Estep

How it fits: #1 in Crown of Shards series
Read: 9/22/19
Rating: 4.5 stars

Review

Aside from a slightly slow start, this book really swept me away. There was a slightly slow build up to the massacre so Estep could set up the world, introduce characters, etc. Once that was done, the book took off and never really slowed down. The last quarter of the book, especially, was very intense, and I spent the time with my heart pounding, reading as fast as I could to find out what would happen, but at the same time, not wanting the book to end. Needless to say, I will be picking up the next book ASAP.

Review:

I had very high hopes for this book as I had heard really good things and the synopsis was very intriguing to me and I was really hoping for a 5 star read. I just couldn't find anything in this book that pushed it from the 4 stars I typically give to books I really enjoy to the 5 stars I give out sparingly. I did still enjoy the book and it was an interesting read and I will most likely read the second book in the series.

Review: This book was an interesting and adventurous easy read but I think books labeled as "Middle Grade" are just a bit too young for me. This book follows a girl who has a ghost as a best friend. Her parents are into writing books about ghost stories and they're starting a TV show which leads them to Scotland.

Review; I really enjoyed this start to the Fallen Angels series. The first couple of chapters I was trying to figure out OK where are you going with this story. Then all of a sudden I was reading and couldnt put it down. Well done characters and story.
Briefly Jim was an ex military who was working construction and has an accident on the job, he meets some angels and is returned to earth to help people in the crossroads of life. Vin is an uber rich guy who has a hot- bitchy girlfriend Devina. Marie Therese is an exotic dancer. These three are the focus for Jim. There is witty, snarky, humor and great bunch of side angels that help Jim. Will definitely continue with the series.

This was a 2.5 star book for me. I read the first book in the series and remembered enjoying it more but this one just didn't hit the spot for me. It was an easy read and I didn't mind it. I just didn't think the author spent enough time developing the characters or the plot. It felt as if the author just moved from one point to the next without going into details. Wasn't a bad book, but probably wouldn't recommend to a friend.

I really enjoyed the first book in the series, the author definitely spins a great tale of highland magic. The description of the book being a mix between Outlander and Mist of Avalon is a great comparison, and this the second book in the series is no exception, i read it within a couple of hours. MC Gruoch lost her soul mate Banquo in the last book, joined by heart and soul she travels through the worlds looking for him. But she is meant for other things, and as usual lady look is not on her side and she discovers more heartbreak, lies and betrayal await her. This was quite a sad book actually, but I am hoping the next one shows what destiny has in store for her.

Another strong entry in the series. It picks up right where the last one ended, so the pace starts high and never really lets up. It didn't feel like there were really any slow parts. I'm really starting to love Claire, and I'm very interested to see how she continues to develop, especially given the events at the end of the book. These just continue to be very entertaining, quick reads, and I'm looking forward to the next one!

Review:
I had read the first in the series many years ago. It is a spin off series from the Night Huntress, which has my fave book couple Cat & Bones. This focus on Vlad Dracul and Leila. The story continues on from the first. Leila was hoping that Vlad was going to propose marriage but she was disappointed when he didn't and he wanted to do a vampire bonding ceremony. Leila left and returned to the circus and her mentor Marty. Someone was trying to kill her and the whole story was about trying to find the traitor from Vlad's circle. The reason I enjoy these books is the writing is witty and light. Its not a dark vampire story.

Review: This is the sequel to Hearts in Harmony by Beth Wiseman. This book focuses on the friendship between Natalie and Lucas. Both of their families are concerned about how close the two of them are getting. The only way they can be more than friends is for either Lucas to leave his Amish community or for Natalie to become Amish. I really enjoy Beth’s books because of her sweet characters and the themes of love and forgiveness.

With mental health becoming more prevalent in our society, I found this story an important read. It follows the grieving process of people that were close to a girl who ended up taking her own life - to attending vigils that were held in her memory afterwards to traveling to her dorm room to pick up her stuff.

Hey Rosina

I am enjoying this series quite a bit, but it isn't scary really. There's mild violence, but the ghost part is quite tame. But I'm glad I'm enjoying them, since the next book is the last of four and I'm reading them for the bonus point. :D
