I finished this one. I liked it better than the last couple of books. How could anyone miss Abel's malevolence? He is just cruel, mean and just evil.
Mississippi Vamps, huh? Are their clans in every state like Scanguards?

Last One! Finally! Well, for now at least. I've got two other Group/Buddy reads this coming month, but only one with a start date. I'm reading Hell for Leather on the 13th of July, so I can do this one before or after it.Ezi, I'll post my thoughts about Last Chance over there under a spoiler, but I really would like to hear what you think of it, once you get it read.
I'll be starting this either tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest.

It's 20 years in the future, Samson, Amaury etc cannot age right? How is the hybrid kids getting older? Will they look older than their parents when they get their parents age?
does the girls Maya & Isabelle (the young hybrid girls) have to have sex before her 21 birthday so she won't regenerate her hymen everytime?
What happened between Luther and Katie before? he seems familiar with her
I decided Luther and Katie were in the missing years. I also decided a page was lifted from the shifter lore. Until they matured they aged regularly, then slowly or not at all.
I further decided they'd have to have sex before the 'freeze' to keep the hymen from regenerating or they didn't have one (and I couldn't work that logic)

According to what TF wrote previously, they hybrid children age normally to age 21, then stop aging. (Covered in Zane's book, Portia (his mate) is a hybrid)

This was covered in Zane's book, remember? Portia was all hellbent on getting laid before her 21st so she wouldn't have her hymen as a vampire. I seem to recall it being a pretty big part of that book.

I never could figure out that familiarity. However, I think that most of the SF vampire community would have been familiar with or told Luther's story, so it's natural that Katie would know it based on her association with Scanguards. Also, doesn't one of Luther's cell mates have Katie's poster in his cell? He could be familiar with her as an actress only.

I didn't remember him well from book 2, was it? That being said, with what happened to him in prison, I thought it was quite plausible for him to have such a radical shift in personality, though I expected him to have a lot more hatred than he did.

I don't mind him having a change but he almost seemed martyr-ish with it.

I just finished
, so I'll join you.MiL is doing well, surgery went a bit long, but she was back in her room resting by 1 pm Monday. She should be out either today or Thursday at the very latest, though hubby says they're hoping for today.
She has to go on a new diet, complete with a low impact exercise plan. Thanksgiving dinner should be very interesting now, especially with how fussy my son is with turkey dinners.
I read this earlier this week. it's less than 75pgs.

it doesn't really add anything to the overall scansgards in my opinion. everything happens so quickly it's hard to believe it's more than 10 pagesbut it was ok I would have been just as ok without it
I finished it last night myself and agree with Pepper, it didn't really do anything to further the Scanguards story. Jake was such a minor character in Quinn's story that I didn't remember him at all from there. Just a largely unnecessary story designed to keep interest in Scanguards going and fuel the author's backlist sales, at least in my opinion.
