Nancy H | 1111 comments I was out of town until this afternoon in a place with very poor cell reception and no computer service, so I was very sad to see that sign-ups closed yesterday. (sigh) If you can put me in for re-picks, great, but if not I totally understand and will just keep reading some previous picks I didn't get to as well as from my own endless TBR!

Hey Vi,

Thanks for all those awesome picks. All of them look so good. But could you change Angels Fall please? I've already read the book. In fact I have read quite a few stand-alones by NR. I like them better than the series. I think the only NR series I've finished is the Key Trilogy and In the Garden trilogy. The rest I left it at one or two books. For some reason I can't take an overdose of NR. And since the stand-alones are usually romantic suspense, I like them better.

I'm gonna try an read: Reckless (Renegades, #1) by Skye Jordan After the Night by Linda Howard Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë -This is part of my syllabus this year, so I might just as well get over with it.
The Mark of Athena (The Heroes of Olympus, #3) by Rick Riordan -The last book releases in October, so I need to read this one too.
Private Arrangements by Sherry Thomas Texas Destiny (Texas Trilogy, #1) by Lorraine Heath -Someone else once rec'd Texas Destiny too, and I loved the sound of it, so I'll try and read this one too.
I'm also gonna try and read The Girl in the Steel Corset (Steampunk Chronicles, #1) by Kady Cross . I may read Lord of the Fading Lands (Tairen Soul, #1) by C.L. Wilson as I'm reading it for the meet and greet challenge too.

Zara's Retreat | 932 comments thanks Fran and Vi. I knew that I would probably get repicks but I was also aware of the time difference.

message 122: by Daffodil (new)

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 1058 comments Kristen I enjoyed looking through your shelves. Once again, I had trouble reining myself in, so you have some extras

1. Contemporary I saw so many good options on your preferred shelf, but I finally chose Jojo Moyes Me Before You. You enjoyed Kristen Ashley's first book in the Colorado Mountain series, so my new-to-you suggestion is to pick up the second book, Sweet Dreams. I'm actually ready to read this and would be willing to do a buddy read if you wish.

2. Classical
I'm not sure how I made it through schooling, never having read Tess of the d'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy, but of the classics I found on your shelf, this is the one I'd probably pick up to read myself. I would also recommend one of my favorite hero-in-disguise books, The Scarlet Pimpernel by Emmuska Orczy.

3. Fantasy
While I was browsing your shelves, Forbidden Forest by Tenaya Jayne looked interesting so I went ahead and added it to my shelves too. I did not see any Ilona Andrews on your shelves and had a hard time deciding which series to recommend. While I love Andrews' PNR Edge series too, my favorite is still the Kate Daniels books. There's romance in this UF series too, it just develops over the course of more than one book. I would definitely suggest Magic Bites.

Historical
The minute I saw Jennifer Ashley's The Madness Of Lord Ian MacKenzie on your TBR, I knew I had to recommend it. I love Ian & Beth. Ashley does a wonderful job portraying Ian's "madness" and how it affects his relationships with others. I would also add Stephanie Laurens to your list of authors to read someday. I love her Cynster series of which Devil's Bride is the first book.

5. Paranormal
Highland Shift by Laura Harner is another book I ended up adding to my shelves too. Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series is one of my favorite. One I'm willing to pay hardback prices for as soon as the new ones come out. You might want to try out Slave to Sensation.

6. Mystery/Suspense
Fatal Affair by Marie Force is another book from your shelves that looks very interesting. Anne Stuart excels at portraying antiheroes, and Nightfall is a fine example of that.

7. YA
I saw Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles on your TBR-owned list and would definitely recommend reading it. You also might enjoy Poison Study by Maria V Snyder. I really enjoyed this first book in Snyder's YA fantasy series.

8. Sci-Fi
The Iron Duke by Meljean Brooks has received mixed reviews, but if steampunk interests you, I think it's worth reading. I didn't see any Ann Aguirre on your shelf and would definitely recommend trying out the first book in her Sirantha Jax series, Grimspace.

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes Sweet Dreams (Colorado Mountain, #2) by Kristen Ashley Tess of the d'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy The Scarlet Pimpernel by Emmuska Orczy Forbidden Forest (Legends of Regia, #1) by Tenaya Jayne Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews The Madness Of Lord Ian MacKenzie (MacKenzies & McBrides, #1) by Jennifer Ashley Devil's Bride (Cynster, #1) by Stephanie Laurens Highland Shift (Highland Destiny, #1) by Laura Harner Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling, #1) by Nalini Singh Fatal Affair (Fatal, #1) by Marie Force Nightfall by Anne Stuart Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry, #1) by Simone Elkeles Poison Study (Study, #1) by Maria V. Snyder The Iron Duke (Iron Seas, #1) by Meljean Brook Grimspace (Sirantha Jax, #1) by Ann Aguirre

Hi Fran,
Thank you for the great picks! There are lots here that I want to read. You would be surprised how many of these are already on my "up-next" stack! I am definitely up for a buddy read of either the Alli Cat one or the Something Different one. I already have the Alli Cat one but am very willing to order the second one from Amazon if you want to read it with me. I can order it today and it will probably be here mid-week.

Thanks again for the great picks!
