Question of the Day
QOTD: Share a book that has been on your TBR list for far too long. What makes you hesitate picking it up?
A Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers. I picked it up a few years ago, and I made it almost to the end, but I put it down and never went back to it. It's probably not something I would read now, so I should just take it off my TBR.
Garlic and the Vampire / Witch by Bree Paulsen. These are the cutest little graphic novels I've ever read. They're just so wholesome and that send a great message to children and adults.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Share a book that put you in a good mood."howl's moving castle by diana wynne jones
Starter Villain by John Scalzi. It made me laugh several times, was a fun read, had an OTT baddie, and uber intelligent cats!
QOTD: Do you prefer buying or borrowing books? How do you decide on which books you want to buy or borrow? Share your process.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Do you prefer buying or borrowing books? How do you decide on which books you want to buy or borrow? Share your process."i do a bit of both. if i'm buying books they're usually used copies, stuff i've already read, authors i've loved in the past, etc. i'm also more inclined to buy nonfiction because i like to annotate it. i definitely borrow more often than i buy though
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Do you prefer buying or borrowing books? How do you decide on which books you want to buy or borrow? Share your process."As much as I love buying books, I think I enjoy borrowing more. If I buy a book it's one that I've already read and loved. If I haven't read it and I buy it, it's probably one I'm super excited to read.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Do you prefer buying or borrowing books? How do you decide on which books you want to buy or borrow? Share your process."Borrow books as much as I can. If I cannot borrow and I really want to read it, I will buy it. I have no desire to have a collection of books I have already read. Plus the added bonus of financially, it is much better to borrow.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Are there any books or projects you want to finish before the end of the month?"i wanna finish both hurricane season by fernanda melchor and my re-read of my heart is a chainsaw by stephen graham jones but we'll see if that actually happens lol
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Do you prefer buying or borrowing books? How do you decide on which books you want to buy or borrow? Share your process."I enjoy both. If it's a book I'm excited to read and think that I will love or if I've read and loved it and want to own a copy I will buy it. Also, if it's a favorite author I will automatically buy the book. I borrow books a lot on my Kindle, especially for new-to-me authors or with genres I don't typically want to keep on my shelves. That way if I don't enjoy it I don't feel any guilt or feel like I've wasted money.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Are there any books or projects you want to finish before the end of the month?"I'd like to finish my current reads and get my reading journal updated and ready to go for February. I'd also like to take some items I decluttered to drop off for donation.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Are there any books or projects you want to finish before the end of the month?"No, I'm not in any rush to finish what I'm doing. I have a puzzle going and multiple books, so there's no way I'll finish all that by February.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: Are there any books or projects you want to finish before the end of the month?"I have two books I would like to finish by February. One, I will finish. The other one, maybe.
I have ceramic projects I am working on. But nothing will be completely finished by February.
LCPL wrote: "QOTD: What's your favorite read of the month?"Favorite - My Darling Girl by Jennifer McMahon
Honorable mention - The Woman in Me by Britney Spears .. Britney is not going to win any prizes for her writing, but I enjoyed the book. I went in expecting to greatly dislike the book. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised.

I've definitely read more non-fiction, biographical and more historical. More mystery/thriller types as well.
