It's a great book series, one of my favourites to be sure! The Netflix series took some getting used to, but I've come to enjoy it. I definitely prefer the characters in the books.

A total of 42 books & stories!!

Needed a third post to fit everything, but I'll use it for my recap too.
I also started 20 series that I didn't finish.
Made progress in 6 others.
Have to wait for more to be published for 8.
Couldn't get my hands on the last books for 4 others.
But finally, I finished 29 series (whether started this year or not), with the entirety of Shannara, including short stories and graphic novels (if there's more I couldn't find it on Goodreads).
For those 20 started...well I blame two main sources of free books, the Simon Teen books and box exchange boxes, since in both cases you get whatever happens to be there and if you don't grab 'em right away they'll be gone later :)

This year I started but did not finish 12 series, which adds up to about 54 books...gah!
I continued but did not finish 10 series, annoyingly I was really close to finishing 3 of them but ran out of time. This adds up to about 38 books
On the positive, I finished 21 series, whether I started them this year or not
And there were 9 series I couldn't finish because either the next book isn't out yet, or may never get written, or its really hard to get my hands on a copy of an out of print book, or I'm waiting for the library to acquire a copy. Can't give a count since the incomplete series are...well...incomplete.
Overall, a good year, completed more than I started and even completed exactly as many as I didn't (not counting those 9 I can't even if I wanted to)
