NekroRider: I started reading Cornwell's Saxon series years ago, but I can't remember where I left off. Certainly not the 12th book! I just started watching the series on Netflix a couple nights ago. There's a lot I've forgotten. Enjoy your reading time!

Have to wait for more to be published for 8.
Couldn't get my hands on the last books for 4 others.
But finally, I finished 29 series (whether started this year or not), with the entirety of Shannara, including short stories and graphic novels (if there's more I couldn't find it on Goodreads).
For those 20 started...well I blame two main sources of free books, the Simon Teen books and box exchange boxes, since in both cases you get whatever happens to be there and if you don't grab 'em right away they'll be gone later :)

I just finished the Foreigner series by C.J. Cherryh, by completing the 22nd and - most likely - last book in that series. In general I enjoyed the books, for the extensive world-building and the quite interesting main characters. The series was open-ended, so that a lot remains unknown and/or unexplained in the last book. Since I don't expect a continuation of the series, I'll never learn what happened for example with the settlement of humans on Mospheira, with the railway project for Machigi, with Boji, with Cajeiri's associates, and so on. Still, it was a very nice ride.
This time I finished the Prefect Dreyfus series (oddly named 'Inspector Dreyfus' on this site, whereas Dreyfus' title is definitely Prefect) by Alastair Reynolds. I enjoyed the 3 books in that series, especially the first and last ones.
Since I've just started what will most likely be my last book of the year, I'm updating my series tracking list now. Series Started in 2024

Last day of the year, I still have one book to finish reading but since I'm pretty sure I'll manage to do that (have to do something to keep me awake till midnight after all!) gonna do my year-end summary now.This year I started but did not finish 12 series, which adds up to about 54 books...gah!
I continued but did not finish 10 series, annoyingly I was really close to finishing 3 of them but ran out of time. This adds up to about 38 books
On the positive, I finished 21 series, whether I started them this year or not
And there were 9 series I couldn't finish because either the next book isn't out yet, or may never get written, or its really hard to get my hands on a copy of an out of print book, or I'm waiting for the library to acquire a copy. Can't give a count since the incomplete series are...well...incomplete.
Overall, a good year, completed more than I started and even completed exactly as many as I didn't (not counting those 9 I can't even if I wanted to)

I really need to get into Discworld at last. It's one of those long neglected series for me.
