It wasnt all cookies and ice cream
We got woloped with a snow storm that night.
Ended up making a wrong turn and walked a couple of blocks before I realised I had made a wrong turn.
I lucked out because I lived in the area when I first moved here
so I had a good idea where I was and it was still sorta on my way home.

Picked up a mystery by an author from my hometown, a thriller, and 2 books in the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness while browsing in a used book store near the hotel where I'm staying. Got back to the hotel before the snow started--yay me!

Ken (ogi8745) | 1447 comments The weather this week has been exceptional. So I pulled out my bicycle and started to go for rides to get back in shape. Man this winter has been terrible. I totally fell off my diet and exercise regime so clothes are tighter and lots of huffing puffing and weasing.
I was riding and passed a book store.
Had to check it out

I don't have the good excuse of a bike ride to get back into shape. I just sat at my computer and binged during the latest sale at Better World Books.
Blue Labyrinth
Crown of Renewal
Heritage of Cyador
The Bone Tree
Geomancer
The Bloody Cup
Dragon's Child
Hunting with Gods
Blood of Dragons
People of the Morning Star
The Empty Throne
The Incrementalists
The High Druid's Blade
Witch Wraith
The Long Mars

King Arthur and Merlin stories are my weakness, and all the books were on my "looking to buy" list.

message 1269: by Ken (new)

Ken (ogi8745) | 1447 comments ooohhhh The Incrementalists. It's a pretty good book. I hear there is a sequel.

I bought another book yesterday, This was something specific I went to get. Been hearing some good things and since it's opening day today I picked up The Arm: Inside the Billion-Dollar Mystery of the Most Valuable Commodity in Sports

Ken (ogi8745) | 1447 comments Been looking for some Perry Rhodan books. When I was a kid we used to visit my Aunt and Uncle, on the way was a lonely bookstore in the middle of nowhere. They had tons of the Perry Rhodan books but I never dipped my toe. At work an associate there was reading the first one. Got me thinking that I should try and locate them. So I targeted the first 10 books.
I bought the first online, ABEBooks, in Dec. Finally after some luck. Picked up 8 more in the intervening months
Galactic Alarm
Invasion from Space
The Vega Sector
The Secret Of The Time Vault
The Galactic Riddle
Fortress of the Six Moons
Quest through space and time
Ghosts of Gol

Only missing one book. Book two. I count myself lucky with locating these ones locally. Still looking for the first ten Doc Savage books. No such luck with those

I knew it was coming out, but didn't know it was released! Kay is one of the few authors whose books I automatically buy. I will probably wait for the paperback, though.

I just picked up Pioneer Girl: The Annotated Autobiography, which I'm kind of excited about - I have always adored the Little House books and wondered how much of the actual history was condensed/modified/left out to make it friendly to younger readers.

When I paid for it the cashier mentioned the price
I didnt even look at it, It was $40 CDN. I would of bought it

I had Taking Hope as a .pdf that Jim sent me before it was published but it seems to have disappeared from my files. I couldn't find it so I decided to get the finished product in paperback to go with my copy of High Rage. And I am embarrassed that I haven't gotten Ilana's book before now, but now is better than never.

I belong to another group here at GoodReads and they read fantasy series. For 2017, they are starting with 2 series I have not read, even though I own most of the books, and so I used my Amazon gift card credit and bought League of Dragons (Temeraire) and Heir to Sevenwaters, Seer of Sevenwaters, and Flame of Sevenwaters (Sevenwaters) to complete the series. Early holiday gift to myself!
