With an exasperated sigh she went to the park finding a nice bench to collapse onto. She laid her bag on the seat and massaged her temples. “Couldn’t they have taken it outside?” Though she couldn’t help smirking that rider inside of her finding some of it amusing. If she left the one guy for the one who took her out to McDonald’s then what did that say about the first guy. She had to try and refrain from giggling at that thought. It was nice to be able to look at things with humor for a change.
((Haha love it! XD))
Shade was on his way to the busy bustling street that hosted a series of restaurants. McDonalds was his target. He'd learned that a relatively easy way he could steal food was by hanging out near the counter, and sometimes when the workers called the ticket numbers the customer did not hear and come up to get their order straight away, either because of the noise, or they had foolishly left to go to the bathroom or something. That was when Shade swooped in and took the unclaimed bag for himself, even though he hadn't paid. It wasn't as if the workers cared, and they often didn't notice, for Shade only struck in the lunch and dinner rushes, when there were way too many people for them to keep track of. They couldn't remember every face that turned up at a register. Sure McDonalds wasn't exactly that healthy, but he and Hush didn't particularly care what food they ate, just as long as they had something on their bellies. They needed to save up whatever money Shade scrounged for clothes and eventually, some sort of shelter.
But then, as Shade walked through the park, he saw a woman sit down and place her bag, a McDonalds bag of food, on the bench next to her, then lean back, even turning away slightly from her food. Big mistake. Shade moved quickly, sneaking up behind her on the bench. It might have been creepy had his eye not been completely for the food rather than the woman, he barely cast the lady a second glance. He realised stealth was not going to provide much help here, only speed. So Shade snatched up the bag and ran clear in the other direction, so the woman would have the bench to traverse before she could give chase, she'd have to either go around it or jump it. Either would cause delay, and even an extra second was worth it.
((I hope the name doesn't confuse you btw haha sorry! XD))

Kim enjoyed the feeling of the breeze. There was a bird above in a tree she thought about taking a picture so she turned to her right, to reach into her pocket but her phone wasn’t there. At that moment she either heard or sensed something it was difficult to know sometimes you just knew things. Her attention turned just as the bag was lifted her eyes widened and she remembered shouting stop, but before thinking her body was reacting, she leapt over the bench having planted her hands firmly on the back and easily crossing over it in no time at all. She began her mad dash after the thief. Her mind had already realized her phone was in that bag. Not to mention her bank card. True she cancel that pretty easily but, that phone was not replaceable. She didn’t have the money to buy another phone! She pumped her arms and legs aggressively, leaping over a small hole, and waving around a kid on a skateboard without slowing.
She may not of been the most healthy of people but she was in good enough shape to catch a pick pocket. Or what ever you wanted to call someone like this. “Stop! Thief!” She was hoping she could get someone’s attention to help her slow this fast runner down.
((Haha! XD Though how dare you laugh... XD Same age as your Kim I believe! ;) ))
Shade had taken off at full pelt. But it didn't help when the woman shouted out 'thief' and Shade grimaced. Him running and her chasing her calling that wasn't going to be much good for him. Luckily he'd managed to clear the park and reached a street, so he ducked into an alley out of sight of most people. Not as many people for their attention to be drawn to him. He kept on running, hoping she'd abandon the chase within a few moments, after all it was just some food. An annoying little waste of money sure but she could just get another small meal. She'd bought it in the first place after all.

However that was not just a phone it was the phone with her ideas her dreams voice memos songs. Not to mention phone numbers that she didn’t have memorized, and again even if all that was backed up somehow and she could get all that data back she didn’t want it in the hands of anyone else. Buying a new one was out of the question. She growled as he reach the alleyway ducking in moving left and right avoiding knocking over cans and trash. He seem to know this much better than her, she thought carefully as she ran she could see light around the corner it was a longshot but maybe it be a shortcut she Dash that way so if he turned around it would look like he lost her.
((;D))
Shade just took the normal pathway, running as fast as he could. He looked over his shoulder and saw there seemed to be no sign of the young woman. He smiled to himself and huffed in relief, slowing down to a jog and then to a brisk walk. He brought the McDonald’s bag up, about to open it and check through the contents, see what he’d scored.

Immediately Shade jumped and shouted in shock. Where the gel had she come from?! He ducked out of her reach and sprang backward, keeping a tight grip on the bag. God all this for a maccas meal?! He backed up so quickly he accidentally bumped into the wall.

Bull*#*#, was Shade’s immediate thought. He almost said it aloud, if he weren’t too busy avoiding her. Shade practically danced out of her reach, quick and nimble, he ducked under the arm she stretched out to try and reach for the food and then twisted so he was out away from the wall. He highly doubted she needed the food as much as he and Hush did. And the bag felt pretty weighty, what kind of lady needed that much food?! “Nick off!” Shade snapped back at her before smirking sinisterly and he raised the bag of food and dropped it from the highest point in the air that he could reach. But then he immediately shifted, into a greyhound, and he caught the bag of food in his mouth before it hit the ground. With that the greyhound took off running, of course Shade had picked the form for its speed and relatively small size.

Shade continued to pelt through the streets, through the crowds, some people exclaiming at the dog running by with a bag of food in its mouth but no one dared to stop him, of course not, who would stop a dog with food, and possibly bringing it to its babies or something like in those cute little stories? Shade almost snorted at the thought. Finally he looked behind him and saw no sign of the woman, at least from on the ground like he was, so he slowed from his run to a trot, walking proudly. At least he and Hush would have some dinner for tonight. It was the evening now and the sun was starting to go down.
Shade traversed to what looked like a somewhat poorer part of London, quieter, more cluttered and slightly less clean. Eventually he turned into an alley, swung his from side to side to check around, then shifted back into his human form. He approached the right side of the alley, where a bunch of milk crates were stacked, and behind them, were two cardboard boxes, half stretched and bent open to provide meagre makeshift shelters. Shade didn't wasn't sure what they were going to do in the winter... Luckily, it was late spring, even if the frequent rain was quite an inconvenience. But at least they were hidden well enough at least from cursory glances down the alleyway by their barrier of milk crates, the police hadn't forced them to move on from this spot yet. A crime to be homeless, to be poor, that was what it felt like. So Shade barely even felt any remorse stealing anymore...
He stopped a short distance from the stacked crates, checked again to see if there was anyone around, then went and sat down on one of the small crates. There he waited a few seconds before tapping out a rhythm with his foot. A code. It was pretty easy to sense someone's presence from inside the box, and Hush knew to only respond to this particular rhythm Shade played out. Within a few seconds, the flaps of the right side of the cardboard box - the only side that had flaps to shelter from the wind - shifted and a head of sandy brown hair poked out. Hush crawled out of the box and then he was sitting cross-legged at Shade's feet. Shade smiled and leaned forward, passing him the McDonald's bag. "Here buddy. Dinner."
Hush took the bag, opened it up, then frowned before looking up and giving Shade an incredulous look.
"What?" Shade asked. "Is it not enough for the both of us? Felt like it was. If not then don't worry I'll get my own later. You just eat okay."
But Hush shook his head, his light brown hair falling into his eyes a little, and then fished into the bag. And instead of food he pulled out a phone and wallet, raising his eyebrows at Shade.
"What the...?" Shade took the items and stared at them, frowning. "What are these doing in there?"
((And cue Kim XD))

At the voice Shade jolted violently and whipped around to face the source of the voice, who he realised was still the same woman!
Hush gasped and scrabbled backward, huddling into himself and pressing against the milk crates, shaking.
Shade took one look at him and glared at the woman. “Alright lady clear off!” He growled at her and then narrowed his eyes. “Before I make you.”

Shade raised a brow. Well, at least this hadn’t been quite what he’d expected. He glanced back at the phone and wallet he realised he was holding, then grumbled under his breath. That was why the bag had been so weighty... “Not here to get us in trouble huh?” Shade replied, narrowing his eyes. “So you’re not going to dob us into the police?” Honestly he wasn’t sure how to tell anymore when someone was being sincere... But there was something about her tone... the expression on her face.
Hush was still huddled against the crates, shaking and staring fearfully at the woman.

Shade was surprised enough at the first thing she said, about agreeing how police officers sometimes just harmed the people who didn’t deserve it. But then... when she offered her own apartment... Shade’s jaw dropped before he could stop it. It took him a moment to regain his senses. “You’re... you’re offering for us to go in your apartment?” He said, aghast. He didn’t even have it in him to be angry and defensive right now he was so shocked...
Hush looked up questioningly, looking just as confused as Shade, and still scared, nervous. He was likely thinking some of the same dark thoughts that Shade was right now... What exactly this woman might want...

Shade hesitated, opening his mouth about to ask what she was trying to pull. But... something stopped him. The key alone he could have saw as a trap, like perhaps she’d ambush them if they decided to come, but the money...? Shade frowned. He just... didn’t know. But then he glanced at Hush, tired looking and dirty, wide eyed and scared. And if this was really an opportunity to make sure his little brother didn’t spend another night out in the cold and the wet, sleeping in a box on the street... he would do anything to make things better for Hush. He turned his gaze back on the woman, then, hardening his expression, he handed her wallet and phone back to her, perhaps a little forcefully. “Fine. We’ll come with you. Now, if you want.” He clenched his jaw. “But only because it looks like we’re going to get a downpour tonight.” He said, glancing up at the clouding sky. “And only to make sure you don’t rat us out.” There, that was right! He could keep an eye on her. He looked over his shoulder. “What do you think Hush?” He asked gently.
Hush still looked hesitant, his mildly terrified gaze was still on the woman. Of course it would be. Shade turned and walked over to him, bending down to whisper in his ear. “Don’t worry yeah buddy, you know I can handle her if she makes a wrong move. And I’ll keep her away from you yeah? I’ll be with you the whole time.” After all, he wasn’t some helpless slave anymore either! Hush, still clutching the McDonalds bag tightly, cast another nervous glance at Kim and then finally gave the tiniest of nods. Shade grinned back at him reassuringly, then turned back to the woman and that smile instantly faded as he approached her. “I swear to god Lady, if you do us dirty, and if you so much as look at him the wrong way, I will not hesitate to turn into a tiger and rip your throat out.” He growled.

Shade clenched his jaw, half caught between anger and frustration. She thought they were going to do something to her? Then again he supposed at least she wasn’t so clueless about the true nature of some of the people who lived in this world... He eventually just huffed and straightened, especially at her words about dying before hurting Hush. He frowned at her. He supposed it was just as risky for her, but then again maybe it wasn’t if this was a trap... Whatever... She could try. He gave her a look before draping an arm around Hush’s shoulders and guiding him out he alley, following after her. Hush pressed against him but then Shade immediately stopped and gaped at the woman. “What, now you don’t even know where we’re going?” He said incredulously.

Shade supposed there wasn’t much to say to that. He may have been stand offish but he wasn’t completely unreasonable. “Hm, well were in the same boat then I guess. We’ve only been roaming around for about a month too.” He replied. His creator isn’t exactly sure if Kim was asking Shade where an area was or a stranger but she is going to guess she was asking Shade, to which he shook his head. “I only go between these streets and the Main Street where all those restaurants and shops are. No further really. Look we came from that way, let’s just start walking.” He said, pointing in the direction they’d come. “We could just get back to the main street maybe you’ll know from there.” He kept a reassuring grip on Hush, who still huddled against him and kept casting wary glances at Kim. He moved him to his other side so he’d be furthest away from the woman.

Shade grunted his acknowledgement, satisfied with that at least. As the woman introduced herself he looked to her. “The name’s Shade.” He replied in a neutral tone. “And well this is Hush.” He said, tapping Hush on the shoulder. Hush gave him a timid look and Shade gave him an apologetic glance in response as if to explain that the woman had to call him by something right? The two seemed to have their own silent language, especially since Hush didn’t speak anyway. He only seemed to grow more uneasy as they emerged into the slightly more crowded streets, hopefully making Kim realise his fear of her was not personal, he didn’t like anyone except Shade near him. Shade led them back to the park.

Again Shade’s only answer was a grunt. At least she knew where she was going now. He let her lead and steered Hush after her, keeping him close. He could swear he felt the boy’s little heart beating as his hand fell across his chest, and he tried to give him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. Hush just tightened his grip on the McDonald’s bag, and Shade knew sadly he likely wasn’t going to be able to eat for a while. Hush had difficulty eating when he got anxious, he gagged on his good and wanted to be sick instead.

Shade couldn’t help scoffing at the name of the estate. Budget estates... his fitting. But his amusement faded as he saw just his dilapidated the place was, sure it was still a major upgrade for him and Hush, but for the woman...? And... her offering them help when it turned out she had so little...? When they were inside and she was offering the bedroom to them he finally halted, widening his eyes. “The bedroom? Us? I would have expected us to take the couch.” He glanced around. “If there was one. Don’t you want the bedroom?”
((Does the bedroom only have the sheet and blanket? Not a bed?))
((Does the bedroom only have the sheet and blanket? Not a bed?))

((Nope, old pillows and cushions. It’s unfurnished so it only has like a stove and fridge, not even a microwave.))
((Ah got it, that’ll actually help ;) ))
Hush was starting to look just as surprised as Shade was. He may have been mute but he wasn’t deaf, or daft. Shade just followed her with his eyes, clearing his throat awkwardly. “Yeah sure, we’ll take some.” He said, then looked to Hush, and the bag he realised he was still holding. “Oh... do you... want your McDonalds back...?” Hush didn’t look saddened exactly but he did look up at Shade.

Shade wasn’t one to usually dare to hope, but... part of him had suspected what her answer about the McDonalds would be, and be was not disappointed. His suspicious scowl finally lifted, but then in an instant the woman was exclaiming and then she was gone. He stiffened, wondering why she had gone back out. And because his suspicions were running wild, Shade went ahead and shifted into a wildcat, a cheetah to be exact, just in case she came back up with company... He growled softly at Hush to stay close.

Shade’s slightly enhanced hearing picked up the sounds before Hush did and finally he poked his head out into the Hall, widening his eyes at the scene and backing up as Kim came up to the door. He tilted his head, then shook it and cane forward, shifting into a St. Bernard dog instead, the largest breed of dog. He took the but of wood in his large mouth and proceeded to drag it inside in an attempt to help her. Hush just stared bewilderedly.

Shade would have raised his brows if he could, at her enthusiasm. But he supposed it was better than screaming or something. When he dragged the wood over to where she had dumped the other stuff he shifted back, staring after her bewilderedly. “Uh Okay...” was all he managed to say before she disappeared to her room. He glanced at the pile of stuff she’d brought in then exchanged a look with Hush. When Kim returned he turned to her. “You collect stuff from what people throw out to set yourself up here...?”

Shade tilted his head. He could understand that, that wasn’t why he had asked. “I mean... I didn’t realise you were so... in dire straights as well.” He sighed as he approached her, frowning but for once it wasn’t at her, it was at himself. “Sorry... I wouldn’t have stolen from you if I’d known...” he turned to Hush who still looked wary and bent down to him. “Go on, why don’t you go eat in the room? Shut the door if you want.” Hush cast a glance at Kim and Shade followed it. “I’ll stay with her don’t worry, keep an eye out. You go and try to eat okay?” Shade said and nodded in encouragement. Hush finally scampered off, disappearing into the room.

Shade finally smiled faintly before noticing her sadness about Hush being scared of her. He hummed. “Don’t take it personally. He’s afraid of everyone. You would be too if you experienced what he has.” He murmured softly. It wasn’t too long before Hush ended up coming back out with the McDonalds bag, shaking his head at Shade.
“No good?” Shade said to him, sagging slightly.
Hush shook his head again, looking down at the floor almost guiltily. Shade shook his head and came back over to him, patting his head comfortingly. “Don’t worry about it.” He took the bag and then offered it to Kim. “You sure you don’t want it?” He glanced at Hush, who had backed up to sit against the other wall. “He can’t eat when he’s anxious, he throws up, and I’d rather him not puke up his lunch and breakfast, he needs to keep that at least.”

Shade pulled back, but he still asked. “Are you sure? I ate this morning I’m fine.” He said, glancing at the bag. But unbeknownst to him, Hush was shooting him a look, one that clearly said he indeed had not eaten this morning. In fact Shade hadn’t eaten since lunch yesterday...

Shade relented, they had argued over the food long enough, and well his stomach did give a grumble. So despite not seeing Hush’s look he opened up the bag anyway, getting out the probably now quite cold meal Kim had bought, which Shade’s creator will let Kim’s explain because it was her meal to begin with. Assuming they were there though, he at least handed her some fries. “I don’t need all of it, here at least take these. I’m not a fan of them anyway.” A bit too sickeningly salty for him, however crazy that sounded. Shade shook his head at her suggestion. “No don’t bother, it lasts for a bit after he gets freaked so it’ll probably be a while before he feels better. You’re alright huh Hush?” Hush have a shallow nod. “He doesn’t really get hungry when he’s anxious anyway. Cereal will be good for him actually, he does better with the dry stuff he might have some later.”
