Shade pursed his lips more. “Do you think the fact that you can show you used to be a cop will help?” He asked hopefully. Maybe her words would hold more sway then after all. He went a little stiff as she asked if he could tell her what he knew about them. And of course he wanted to see them brought down but... this was also so much of a risk... He thought for a moment, hesitating, then looked in Hush’s direction. “Hush do you want to go to the other room?” He called to him softly.
Hush cast them a timid look before he gave a little nod in response to Shade and then he went into the bedroom as shut the door. He already knew all this after all, Shade knew he didn’t need a reminder, he didn’t want the boy to have to listen.
Slowly Shade turned back to Kim, eyes dark and darting slightly. Then he inclined his head to the sofa. “You might want to sit.” He said and led the way over. Not only was the story going to be pretty long, but shocking.

Shade made sure Hush had shut the door before turning to Kim. He himself wasn’t too sure if he wanted to sit or stand but he decided to sit, though he did so only on the edge of the sofa. Now he usually ad the mindset that this shouldn’t bother him too much, that none of it had been his fault so he wasn’t going to let it control and ruin his life anymore than it had, which is why he was agreeing to tell it. But suddenly in this moment he felt anxious about it suddenly. He clenched his fist and swallowed against the lump in his throat before summoning himself and starting to speak, looking Kim dead in the eye.
“That man owned and ran a brothel Kim. Deep in the underbelly of London. Human trafficking. They had a worldwide business.” Now he was clenching his fists with anger as he looked away, as if he could see back to it. “He has his lackeys snatch people from anywhere and then he sells them to whatever sick bastards pay to use them for their entertainment. And then he makes the profit.” Bitterness laced his tone. He raised a brow. “And me? I was his most popular sex slave.” His eyes darkened and he he glared into space. “They liked me because I was foreign. ‘Exotic’.” He said, actually doing the quotation marks. “I was a circus performer so I was in good shape. And I guess apparently my face wasn’t too bad as well.” He rolled his eyes. First time someone had ever likely been annoyed with their good looks. “I’m from Argentina. They snatched me from my home. My family.” He said and then he scoffed bitterly and shook his head. “Oh apparently I earned Brom a lot of money. He would even use me to bargain with other potential business partners, an extra ‘treat’ for them if they decided to work with him. If they were of that kind of course, he always made sure to check.” He gritted his teeth and finally returned his gaze to Kim. “That’s what we need to take down.”
He wondered what Kim would think of him now, if all that, not that he really cared. Of course if she had something to say about it he’d just leave. But he highly doubted she was that kind of person... The question was, now that she knew that was his past with Brom, one of the men she’d taken down, would she make the connection that even more horrifically... Hush had been subjected to that too...

The question was, now that she knew that was his past with Brom, one of the men she’d taken down, would she make the connection that even more horrifically... Hush had been subjected to that too...

She exhaled sharply giving a shuddering intake of breath. Poor Hush... all of it made sense, how they acted. And even a little bit she’d heard the man say, her eyes burned as tears demand it to spring forth. People like that, the fact that there were people like that in the world! As a writer she had wrote some pretty bad things happening in her stories but in the realm of fiction, it never bothered her sure it was an emotional roller coaster but that was the point of a character in a story. But to meet someone who is having it in real life her heart begins to pound violently with in her chest. Her throat so tight it was a miracle she could breathe let alone try and convey any sort of words. Yet when he finished she looked at his face whether he was willing to make eye contact or not. She stood up, her lower lip quivering. “We need, to take, each. and every. One! Of those B@$$+¥%>$, down!” Her words laced with pure rage. Her arms were shaking with the effort of barely controlled anger.
Shade did indeed manage to meet her gaze, though his foot was bouncing restlessly, nervously. But at her words his gaze only hardened and his jaw clenched. “Yes. We do.” He said in a deadly cold tone. Then he cast a glance at the door to where Hush has disappeared and suddenly he was shaking with fury. “It was one thing to nab me. But at least I was 18.” He turned back to Kim, eyes flaring and muscles taut. He clenched his fist as he started to explain, sure maybe one might think it wasn’t his right to tell Hush’s story, but to him it was Hush’s right to have it known, so justice could be served for him. If such a thing existed in this world. “Hush was 14 when he first came. He was a virgin. They’re, particularly valuable in the business.” He dug his nails I’m so hard to his palm that he might have drawn blood. “Clients bid for his first time. The sick bastards... bid for a CHILD. And he was sold off to the highest bidder.” Then Shade shut his eyes and shook his head. “He didn’t stop shaking the whole day after that first night... After that woman... who won the bid.” Oh she had been a monster he knew. She’d been a regular for him too. He looked back at Kim, eyes narrowing. “It’s why he doesn’t speak. I’ve never even heard him make a sound apart from crying. And frankly I wouldn’t blame him if he never opened his mouth again. He’s had enough tongues stuck down his throat. And worse.”

Shade had seen Kim traumatized, emotion, but never full of pure fury. It was rare, rare she got so upset about anything. “I...” She struggled to speak. “I need to know... everything... from beginning to end.” She pulled out her phone and opened the voice memo function. “C-can I record you? I won’t say who spoke to me, but I need to make sure ‘the full truth’ is in the open.” She also didn’t think she could do justice. “You see Shade, you are The evidence. Names, even fake ones have use, describe them, tell me...” She gulped. “Tell me everything. From the day they took you.”
((You can do a gloss over post, and say they spent hours talking about all of it if he is willing))
Shade was already frowning somewhat apprehensively, but as she got her phone out and asked if she could record him he sucked in a sharp, shaky breath and shied. He glanced nervously at her phone. “What if... what if they just think you forged the recording?” But then another thought crossed his mind and his expression changed. “A recording isn’t enough. I... We... need to make sure they see it. What if they got someone to act undercover as a client? Then they could see everything for themselves. Is that possible? I could tell them all I know, and then they could see the proof.”

Shade still looked a little uncertain as his eyes darted, and then widened at her comment about the newspapers listening. Telling it freely to Kim because he found he trusted her was one thing, but allowing nearly anyone and everyone to see his story... that was something else. “I... Do you really think it will work...?” He murmured doubtfully. He didn’t mean to have such little faith in the way of justice and the world, but well with what had happened to him... he’d become inclined to see the worst in almost everything. Kim was actually the first thing to prove him wrong in years...

Indeed if Kim had touched him Shade would have recoiled. Shade’s eyes flicked up to her and finally he did seem to give a shallow nod. “I guess you’re right about that. No decent person is going to want a place like that right in the same city they live in. However many decent people exist anymore.” He kind of muttered. But he had to believe there was some sense of justice in the majority of these people... As Kim made her promise Shade met her gaze. He looked taken aback, but... “Thank you...” His tone was grateful.

Shade raised a brow. “Hm, 90%?” He questioned, but a ghost of a smile had formed. And Indeed at her final statement, about Hush, other people just like him, children, and others like himself of course, he HAD to do all he could to stop it. Whatever it took, no matter how hard it was. “Ok-okay...” Shade stammered. She was right, he had to do it, if not for himself then for Hush. And he just needed to stop that place... That was the resolve that filled him. “Alright.” He said much more firmly, clenching his fists.

Suddenly Shade held up a hand. “Wait.” He cast a glance at the door Hush had disappeared through. “Do you... mind if we do it tonight? When Hush is asleep?” He looked back at Kim. “He can’t exactly be expected to stay cooped up in there for hours and... I don’t really want him to have to hear it, even by accident.” He explained, his tone a little apologetic.

((Omg Kim stop beating yourself up! XD))
Shade raised a brow and managed to smile faintly. “Why are you asking me? What am I going to say, no?” He said and snorted. “It’s not like you have to ask me for permission. Of course you can bloody go for a walk.” He said amusedly. Maybe he was releasing some of his own tension too as he chuckled a little, a cathartic effect. He nodded as she added in about Hush. “Yeah good point. I can try and set things up for dinner for when you come back. Though I’m afraid I’m hopeless at cooking so you’ll have to take care of the rest, I don’t want to burn the apartment down.” He said lightly.

Kim blushed, and shake her head. “ I know I don’t have to ask but, that’s the considerate thing you do when you share a house with people. Especially if it’s going to make them eat dinner later, you know?“ She couldn’t help finding a bit funny, she always ask her for permission for everything. At work she always asked for permission before doing practically anything unless she knew that she was allowed to do it. Back in the foster home she always asked which was one of the reasons they called her a model foster child, yet at the same time she still didn’t get adopted. She wondered if her foster parents had something to do with that. Wanted to check and a child it was easier to manage.
Kim chuckled. “OK I’ll be back.“ She gave a kind of silly wave and then moved and walked towards the door and unless he called out and stopped her she would head out.
((XD))
“Yeah but this is YOUR house, we’re just the squatters.” Shade replied back to her. He waved a hand at the comment about eating dinner late. “Really don’t worry about it. We’re glad to get any dinner at all you know that.” He said and then he waved to her and wished her well as she headed out. Meanwhile he went straight to Hush in the room, who to his dismay seemed a little upset. Shade came forward to comfort Hush, eventually admitting he’d told Kim about where they had come from, and how he was going to testify everything tonight, though he wouldn’t mention him by name, not even nickname. He reassured Hush that they needed to put a stop to it, so it didn’t happen to anyone else. And so they didn’t have to spend the rest of their lives looking over their shoulders, with close calls like today, to stop any chance that they could ever go back to that. Shade promised he’d never let Hush go back to that. And that was the reason he was doing this... He was likely still speaking softly to Hush and hugging him to himself when Kim returned from her short walk. He kept letting Hush know that it would be okay, that he’d make sure he was okay before anything else. “I’m not going to let anything else happen to you buddy...”

“She never slows down
She doesn't know why but she knows that when she's all alone,
feels like its all coming down
She won't turn around
The shadows are long and she fears if she cries that first tear,
the tears will not stop raining down
So stand in the rain
Stand your ground
Stand up when it's all crashing down
You stand through the pain
You won't drown
And one day, whats lost can be found
You stand in the rain
She won't make a sound
Alone in this fight with herself and the fears whispering if she stands she'll fall down
She wants to be found
The only way out is through everything she's running from wants to give up and lie down.
So stand in the rain
Stand your ground
Stand up when it's all crashing down
Stand through the pain
You won't drown
And one day, whats lost can be found”
Can probably sing to the song a few times before she returned from her 15 to 20 minute ‘walk’. She was soaking wet and she could tell they were both in the bedroom. She wasn’t going to disturb them she made a quick change in the bathroom putting her wet clothes over the tub so they would dry more and begin cooking the food. They would probably come out when I started smelling something delicious. This time she was gonna make a makeshift casserole, bread on the bottom vegetables and corn and I’ll kinds of stuff in the middle bread on top for a little bit of cheese. To give it a nice casserole taste.
Shade heard Kim come in and for once he wasn’t worried he even managed not to give in to his suspicions and just stayed there with Hush until he seemed okay. Though Shade wasn’t sure if he was going to eat... “I’ll let you gather yourself alright buddy?” Shade said with a reassuring squeeze to Hush’s shoulder before he rose and headed to the kitchen upon hearing the commotion of Kim starting to cook dinner. “Want me to help?” He asked her and then he noticed her soaking hair. “Hey you’re soaking wet! Is it raining?” He sounded genuinely surprised and quickly stride over to a door, indeed widening his eyes at the downpour that was happening outside.

Shade gave a shrug. “Yeah I see no problem in walking in the rain. It’s just a little water. I mean sure snow and hail or lightning storms would be a slightly different story but just rain is pretty harmless I think.” He said with a light smile. He seemed to have recovered pretty well from having to tell part of his and Hush’s grim tale, an despite the fact that he would have to tell it all tonight. Shade just immediately nodded not bothering about the little doubts Kim was having about the makeshift table’s efficiency. “Sure I’m on it.” He replied and started hauling the things over.

Shade fulfilled his task and then he poked his head into the bedroom where Hush was. “Hush you want to come out buddy? Sounds like dinner is almost ready.” He called cheerfully but then left him to his own devices because he knew Hush didn’t like to be pressured. “Smells good.” He said as he approached Kim again. “Need any help with anything else?”
Hush finally emerged from the bedroom, padding over to the sofa with barely a sound and a timid glance at Kim and Shade. He sat looking a little uncertain but he didn’t look too afraid.
Hush finally emerged from the bedroom, padding over to the sofa with barely a sound and a timid glance at Kim and Shade. He sat looking a little uncertain but he didn’t look too afraid.

Shade nodded, actually looking kind of glad and eager to really be handling food. He watched as Kim set up the plates and he pulled on the mitts and then her phone went off so he reached in and very carefully grabbed the casserole to get it out and set it on the bench. It’s aroma floated upwards along with the heat of it and he found himself smiling, his mouth starting to water.

Another meal of the three of them, all three of them could fit on the sofa but she wondered if she should sit on there or not. Maybe she should let the two boys have it plenty a room, considering what women have done to them in their lives… Maybe she should just eat in the kitchen.
Shade looked up and gave a nod, looking quite surprised and eager. “Alright...” He said, and trying to concentrate he cut a smaller piece for Hush and then one for himself it probably looked a little messy as it ended up on the plate but oh well it would taste the same. And he and Hush were grateful for any food, Shade especially was thoroughly enjoying the more home made food after the takeaway they’d been having. “You can have seconds if you want more Hush.” He said as he brought his and Hush’s over to the sofa and they started to eat. But upon seeing Kim seemingly hesitating Shade waved her over. “Hey come on there’s plenty of room for you too.”
After all her kindness and all she was doing for both of them Shade didn’t want her to be uncomfortable.

She better head for a moment lifted it and then begin to eat. “Oh wow that turned out better than I thought!” She sounded genuinely surprised she was in no way praising herself. “I was thinking… Hush if you’re interested, we can learn sign language. I know a little bit but I can also check out some stuff from the library and I can be a way of communicating smoothly and quickly. If you’re interested.” She finish the last part in the slight her ancient food in her mouth wasn’t like he was going to say anything to her but she just didn’t know how it would come off. It wasn’t that he needed to learn it to be allowed to be here or something she just thought it might be nice but she wanted to stop yourself from saying too much like a she seem to all the time.
Shade was sort of in the middle of the couch anyway while Hush was on the right so he didn’t really take too much notice of Kim deliberately picking the opposite side to Hush because he thought that was pretty much just the only spot left on the sofa. He smiled as Kim seemed surprised at her own cooking and he nodded in agreement. “It’s great.”
Hush cast a glance at Kim but he didn’t seem too uncomfortable. Thankfully he was eating quite enthusiastically, Shade had been a little worried that he’d be feeling anxious again but apparently not. Then, when Kim made the suggestion about sign language Hush looked at her, really looked at her and not just a glance. Maybe it was too much to say that he smiled, but his mouth did seem to quirk the tiniest bit and he gave a shrug, but not a dismissive one, more like one a child might do when it definitely seemed like they wanted something but they just shrugged in that shy way instead of frankly saying yes.
Shade smiled. It definitely seemed like Hush was considering the idea. “That would be a good idea huh Hush? Maybe a bit quicker than writing stuff down all the time, and if you can’t write on something.” He added. Hush had finished his relatively small potion of the casserole.
((I so considered just giving him sign language anyway thinking he probably didn’t even talk much as a kid and maybe learned it when young, and I’m going to make it that he was shy and didn’t speak much and only quietly but I don’t think he would have quite gotten to sign language XD))

Kim nodded as they both seemed up for the idea. “All right on the way back from work tomorrow I’ll see what I can find at the library. Let me know if there something either of you two are interested in or if either if you wanted to come you could pick for yourself.“ She just said it offhandedly mostly because she was pretty certain hush wouldn’t want to go anywhere around people here and he seemed so hesitant. She love library’s though there’s just something about them so much knowledge within them information and potential she supposed.
((sign language can be hard to master but it’s not that difficult to learn, so I think they’ll do good with just library books :-) that would make sense if he was never really that vocal of a person. Shy and quiet))
Hush placed his plate on their makeshift table and then lent back, drawing his knees up to his chest, kind of sitting as if he wanted to take up the least dove possible.
Shade nudged him gently. “Hey bud don’t squish up your stomach just after you eat you’ll get a stomach ache.” He said gently and Hush immediately shifted his position, letting his legs dangle from the sofa and clasping his hands a little uncertainly in his lap.
Shade glanced at Kim as she made the suggestion about going to the library. “I’m not much of a reader myself but I can come with you if you want, keep you company. Maybe see if I can find something for Hush, do you like reading?” He asked him. It wasn’t really something he knew after all, the prospect of reading had never yet come up for them.
Hush glanced over and gave another one of those little shrugs which Shade knew to interpret that he probably did indeed like to read a bit.

Shade glanced up as her phone rang and she went to answer it. Then he noticed she didn’t look quite happy this time. “You okay?” He asked after she’d spoken. “And yeah alright, I’ll see to that.” But as she moved to the door he called after her. “Shouldn’t you finish your food first? And when will you be back?” He asked. After all he knew she wanted to record his testimony tonight... Maybe he could have a sleep first until she returned so he wasn nodding off later, but then what about her?

Shade raised a brow and didn’t look too convinced of Kim’s seemingly forced cheerfulness. He knew fake smiles when he saw them. As she said how long she would be gone he frowned. “Don’t overwork yourself.” He called to her. He tensed a little as she mentioned the voice memos and glanced at the phone, taking it hesitantly. Yes, maybe he really did need to do it. But only when Hush was well and truly asleep. It didn’t help that he wasn’t quite sure what to say on them, and thought maybe he needed Kim to tell him the specific questions she wanted him to answer. But oh well she had to leave for now. “Should you finish your food?” He asked her while she was there.

She had never heard of such a thing, but they would only do it if she walked away. Hopefully the meal got then a few more days.
“Alright...” Shade murmured as she said she’d take the food with her. “Don’t worry about the dishes I can do them!” He called after her as she practically rushed out the door. He frowned and glanced to Hush. “Reckon there’s something else up with her?” Hush glanced to him and shrugged. Shade finished his meal, then asked if Hush wanted anymore which of course he didn’t, and then he made sure to gather up the leftovers of the casserole and put it in the fridge, going ahead and organising it as he did so to attempt to make more room. They had eaten a few things out of it so there was bound to be at least some, but hopefully Kim didn’t bring too much home. Then he got started on the dishes, and to his surprise Hush came over and seemed to want to help, so they did it together. They probably didn’t do it in the fastest or most efficient way because they weren’t used to it, but they got it done. It wasn’t like they didn’t have the time at least.

However it seems she got stressed over nothing. She worked her shift and it was fairly uneventful. She even got some tips nothing huge or anything but it certainly would help. And then she was able to go with some leftovers nowhere near as much as last time. Of course she found out that the chef had actually been putting food back that whole week for her, but only things that wouldn’t go bad quick. That’s why things like hamburgers and such.
And then she had noticed he had made extra that day, today he didn’t do all of that but he didn’t feel the need to he still smile that she took her leftovers and hurried on home. Unlocking the door and coming into the apartment to slide what she had into the fridge but Troy has probably about six meals worth for one person.
After doing the dishes Shade and Hush had taken their turns showering, Hush first and then Shade. Then Shade had talked a little with Hush before deciding to get him to bed, in the bedroom this time, upon the pillows and blankets. And as always Shade laid with him and sang his song as a makeshift lullaby and then he turned into a fury animal for Hush to lean against as he fell asleep, though this time he kept another blanket within close reach, so when Hush was well and truly asleep, Shade very carefully edged away from him and quickly draped the blanket over him so he wouldn’t wake up from the sudden lack of warmth. He bundled it up a little at his back before very carefully sneaking out of the room, shutting the door painfully slowly to be as quiet as possible. He didn’t think he’d woken him, so Shade went and sat on the couch, taking up Kim’s phone and holding it a little tightly. He’d turned it on silent in case it rang before so it wouldn’t scare or now wake up Hush. He held it uncertainly. He wanted to start it for Kim but he found he felt so stuck... He didn’t know where to start. Maybe... He should just start from the day he’d been taken. She’d said to do that hadn’t she? So, he turned on the voice recording and started to speak, saying how he’d been taking a walk one day away from where his family and the rest of the travelling circus were situated all the way back in Argentina, and then he’d been jumped and had felt a prick in his neck which turned out to be a syringe injecting him with something to put him to sleep and he’d been dragged off. Next thing he realised he’d woke up in a crate with his hands tied behind his back and his ankles tied together. An then he continued on with what happened next.
When Kim came home though he’d already paused on a lull, trying to think of what else to say, so when she opened the door he just turned it off and watched as she put stuff in the fridge. “Can I quickly ask you a few things?”
When Kim came home though he’d already paused on a lull, trying to think of what else to say, so when she opened the door he just turned it off and watched as she put stuff in the fridge. “Can I quickly ask you a few things?”

Shade’s eyes darted a little. “Do I... have to say who I am? Do they need my identity? Or is it enough without it?” He asked her. “It’s just that... you realise I’m technically in this country illegally. I was smuggled here. I don’t have a passport or a license or anything. I worry that... they’re going to send me straight back. Not that I don’t want to go home but...” He turned to look at the bedroom door, where Hush was sound asleep. “I can’t leave him. I’ve got to help him first...”

Shade nodded. He was satisfied with not having to give his identity. Even if Shade wasn’t his real name, he’d just refer to himself as ‘I’ and ‘me’ throughout the recording and only refer to the criminal men by their names if he knew them. “Okay, I’ll do all I can.” He then grimaced worriedly. “Will they accept me if I don’t have anything on me though?” As she mentioned about getting a job he pursed his lips. It wasn’t like he didn’t want a job but... “How many employers are going to want to employ an Argentinian guy with no precious work experience.” He scoffed. “I don’t know how many would consider ‘sex slave’ as an occupation.”

It was not meant to be a joke, just a cynical statement. Shade had been cynical in a good natured way before he’d been taken. Now it was probably much more cynical and less good natured... Shade pursed his lips and didn’t exactly look that encouraged, for once he stayed worried. “Alright...” He murmured, glancing at the phone. He sighed through his nose. “I’m sorry I’m... getting a little tired. Do you think we can continue it tomorrow?” He asked apologetically. He truly did feel like his eyes were about to shut at any moment.
