In some ways I liked that more than The Day of the Triffids, though that's good reading, too.

I'm about 1/3 into the collection The Dinosaur Tourist by Caitlin Kiernan, and as usual I'm completely drawn in by her voice and story-telling choices. A couple of the stories are more s.f. than I'm accustomed to from her, and work quite well. A terrifically skilled writer.

Triffids was one of the first sci-fi/horror movies I saw as a kid and it left a lasting impression on me. I haven't read the book as yet though.

I've enjoyed reading a few stories by Kiernan scattered in a few anthologies but I must progress to reading her collections and novels at some point.

I just started Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco. It was heralded as a precursor to The Da Vinci Code. I don't know why, other than it involves history and artwork. I'm already struggling through this ridiculously dense story overloaded with math, science, obscure art references and way too much description and contemplation of every item in the room and thought to go through the narrator's head. If I manage to get through this one, it's gonna be a small chunk at a time. Ugh.

So, I put that one down and picked up Ferocity by Stephen Laws, and breezed through 2/3 of it already.

There's a tv show based on this book isn't there? Worth a watch?

OMG, she is so long winded! No wonder this series has been on my TBR for 25 Years.
I fear Taltos (Lives of the Mayfair Witches, #3) by Anne Rice might have to wait another 25!
