In some ways I liked that more than The Day of the Triffids, though that's good reading, too.
I'm about 1/3 into the collection The Dinosaur Tourist by Caitlin Kiernan, and as usual I'm completely drawn in by her voice and story-telling choices. A couple of the stories are more s.f. than I'm accustomed to from her, and work quite well. A terrifically skilled writer.

Triffids was one of the first sci-fi/horror movies I saw as a kid and it left a lasting impression on me. I haven't read the book as yet though.

I've enjoyed reading a few stories by Kiernan scattered in a few anthologies but I must progress to reading her collections and novels at some point.

Picked up The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides from my little local bookstore since Blake Crouch raved about it in his newsletter email.. I'm only 23 pages in but since Im sick in bed and alone for a week ( bf is visiting family and skiing on the other side of the world) I get to read read and read some more! So the plan for today is to read this whole thing :) then jump on the next.. hopefully I won't get book drunk lol.

If you have to be sick in bed this is not a bad way to spend the time. Hope you feel better soon though. :)

I agree and thank you, that was so kind of you.

I just started Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco. It was heralded as a precursor to The Da Vinci Code. I don't know why, other than it involves history and artwork. I'm already struggling through this ridiculously dense story overloaded with math, science, obscure art references and way too much description and contemplation of every item in the room and thought to go through the narrator's head. If I manage to get through this one, it's gonna be a small chunk at a time. Ugh.
So, I put that one down and picked up Ferocity by Stephen Laws, and breezed through 2/3 of it already.

Hope you enjoy it. I originally won the book in a giveaway. Feel better soon!

Lucky! It's very hard to put down and I got through 60% of it yesterday, I just got so tired and I hate reading when I cant concentrate because I would have to go back and re-read so picking it up now to finish :)

Yeah, it is hard to put down. I finished it within a couple of days.

Hope you feel better soon, Kasia! And I hope you enjoy your book.

Thanks for the recommendation, Randy! I hadn't heard about that just-about-to-be-published anthology beforehand.

A classic!]"
It is! Rather quaint too but I'm liking it!

I love me some Bradbury!

Oh my goodness! I hope you adore it as much as I did. :)

Sorry about your bad week, Andrew. A good book usually does help!

A bit of sci-fi for a change. I really enjoyed A Scanner Darkly so hopefully this is on par.
There's a tv show based on this book isn't there? Worth a watch?

I love this book and the TV show is really good.

OMG, she is so long winded! No wonder this series has been on my TBR for 25 Years.
I fear
