What Else Are You Reading in 2019?

As well as my year as a whole: 2018 on Goodreads - ★★★★☆ - (My Review)

The most recent, that is still fresh - even though the sequel is only a loose continuation?
The sixth book in a series that had a year-long pause but I remember it pretty well?
The third book in a series of 3x 150 pages that could give my reading challenge a head start (especially if I was to re-read the first two)?
Decisions, decisions...

I'm starting off with my Christmas gifts: In a Glass Darkly and William Shakespeare's Star Wars: Verily, A New Hope.

I also started the audiobook of Future Home of the Living God which is narrated by Louise Erdrich herself and she does so really well.
Anna wrote: "I'm not reading this, but I found a book with a picture of me on the cover! We should add something like this as a challenge prompt in 2020. It's time to start thinking about 2020 things now, isn't..."
OMG! Are Dread Foxen a thing in Finland, like not needing sleep? Here we just consume a lot and I do consider that a super power, thanks for asking.
Melanie, how perfectly festive of you! I hope you like them, they both sound fun.
Mareike!! I can't wait to hear what you think of Future Home and yes, GGK is wonderful, I'm so glad to have finally read something of his, can't wait for more!

Plan to crack open my hardback of Gardens on the Moon tonight. Anyone post in the thread for that yet?
About halfway done with War Aeternus: The Beginning (LitRPG) by Charles Dean. So far, I like the story and the different take for the main character. I have my fingers crossed that it will end on a satisfying note.

The Complete Stories of Theodore Sturgeon, Volume 4: Thunder and Roses by Theodore Sturgeon, which was a delight to read and I already could tick off one of the TBR challenge topics,
and
the anthology The Year's Best Science Fiction: Fourth Annual Collection, wherein I found one of my fav short stories ever: "Chance" by Connie Willis is just perfect!
Both didn't help much with collecting points in the TimeTravelChallenge, though ;).
I made good with points with A Flight of Broken Wings by Nupur Chowdhury. An urban fantasy which was surprisingly much fun to read (I'm not the urban fantasy type, yet the author asked me to review her book, and it was so nice to chat with her). It was a 3.5 stars read for me, I'm yet contemplating if I should round up or down for my review.
I couldn't use links the last week, since I only came back from travelling yesterday, so I have to add Legion by Brandon Sanderson. The story was only 3 stars, but the mc was 5 stars. Such a terrific idea to work with somebody whose multiple personae realise themselves outside the host, so that this one man indeed is legion. I already bought the second novel. Thank you for the recommendation, Soo!

@ Allison: I'll post in the BR thread as I progress with Erdrich's book. I'll also post some more about Tigana. I just need to find all those scenes I loved again.
I gotta read more Sanderson. I will start shortly with Skyward!
Mareike, can't wait to hear from you ^^

Me too! Just waiting for it to come in from the library.

I haven't read Tigana and A Song for Arbonne by Guy Gavriel Kay since I was in my teens, so I feel like I should really read them both again at some point, maybe once I have got through this year's reading challenge.

I just saw that Catseye is up for this month. I will try to get that in.

Once I'm finished the series, I'll finally get to Amberlough and then Dragon Wing for BRs.

The One-Armed Queen by Jane Yolen - review - https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2628671752.

After that it's likely Skyward and Dragon Wing though that is already an ambitious January but I want a strong start to the year.

I really enjoyed the first two books and rolled right into the third. Well, the story took an odd turn in book 3 and that toned down my enjoyment. 4th book is only on Kindle and I'm reading it now because I want to see if the change will be explained and resolved. Sadly, there are formatting errors and editing mistakes, but I'm going to read it because I'm hoping to get some answers. *fingers crossed* I really liked the first two books!
Mira's Last Dance was interesting. I thought it was an okay story when I finished it, but, upon reflection, I realized it was a great story. The novella seems simple at first glance but it prods the reader to ask questions. I like that.
Current Books:
Gardens of the Moon
Firelight
War Aeternus 4: Harbinger of Ash

I also just read The Witch Boy, which was wonderful. (Thanks to Rose for the rec from the best of 2018 thread!)
2019 reading off to a good start!

Morgan’s main characters are often very hard-boiled and violent, but the motivation/reasons for the behavior are usually included.

I've also started The House with a Clock in Its Walls since I want to see the movie.
Continuing to read Shadow of Night and also plan to complete the series this year.

I recently watched the movie, and now I want to read the book. ^_^

I've decided that's how I should do things, too. If I like the movie, chances are I'll like the book. Loving the book first means I'll hate the movie. I've heard good things about both!!
