Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 769 comments I pulled up some shorter ones from other readers' lists.

138. Mr Darcy & Elizabeth: Unexpected Affection: A Pride and Prejudice Variation 3 stars
139. A Forever Kind of Love: A Pride & Prejudice Novella 5 stars
140. An Eventful Morning by Joana Starnes 5 stars http://austenvariations.com/an-eventf...
Caroline Bingley is in a fury about her brother's engagement, yet when Lady C. shows up and Caro overhears her berating Darcy she thinks this situation will forward him proposing. This vignette is part of a story the author is working on.
141. An Ever Fixed Mark by Sabrina 4.5 stars https://www.dwiggie.com/derby/sabrina... Darcy comes upon a weeping Elizabeth as he has left the Hunsford parsonage where he had gone to say goodbye. She has been reading his letter. A discussion follows and she agrees to allow a courtship. The conversation between them is well written as points are addressed and Darcy compares his love for her with Bingley’s for Jane. Darcy came to say goodbye while Bingley left without a word. Is that love?
142. William by Jannet Doe: 5 stars, 9 chapters: Elizabeth and Darcy shared their passion the night of the Netherfield Ball but when he doesn’t come to her as promised in the time following, she marries a man whom the Gardiners introduced her to. 20 years later she and her oldest son happen upon Darcy in Brighton. Both have bitterly blamed the other for abandonment. Will they even acknowledge the other? Or discuss why? (The name of the villain in this tale was astonish you.)

143. Beyond Knowledge by Peradan: 4-stars, One shot, https://www.fanfiction.net/s/6705093/...
Blurb: “They walked on, without knowing in what direction. There was too much to be thought, and felt, and said, for attention to any other objects.” Poignant but it seems to be a prelude to something more.

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 769 comments Thank you, both. Anji, glad to hear you enjoyed those. The author of 142 just got back to me on a question about a story she mentioned. Sadly that author's works were plagiarized and she took her story down.

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 769 comments 144. Sarah's Story by StacyB, short, https://www.dwiggie.com/derby/old_200... 5 stars
145. Echoes on the Stairs by: AcrossFandoms Elizabeth Darcy. Once full of life and laughter, now literally reduced to a shade of herself. To society, she is dead, but that is far from the truth. Two-shot. Inspired by the fairytale, "The Brother and Sister". Warning: violence, murder.

I am retired and thus have much more time than while I was still working. I don't clean as often as I used to but still do cook. And I do spend about 1.5 hours a day exercising and walking (treadmill 1/2 hour and then all the aisles at grocery story twice).

Anji | 735 comments Here's my first group in the library at Delaford. The first three are shortish pieces spotted in lists others have posted.

101. Beyond Knowledge by Peradan ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/6705093/
Author's note: "They walked on, without knowing in what direction. There was too much to be thought, and felt, and said, for attention to any other objects."
Short, sweet one-shot set just after Elizabeth and Darcy have come to an understanding.

102. William by Jannet Doe ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ unpublished
What if the Netherfield Ball led to a night of passion for Darcy and Elizabeth? Then circumstances instigated by an unexpected villain mean they don't see each other again for twenty years, until by chance in Brighton. Elizabeth has married, borne Darcy's son conceived that night, three other children, and is now a widow. Darcy has married, had two children and is also widowed. This story tells of what happened after that chance meeting.

103. Echoes on the stairs by acrossfandoms ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Unpublished
Author's note: "Elizabeth Darcy. Once full of life and laughter, now literally reduced to a shade of herself. To society, she is dead, but that is far from the truth. Twoshot. Inspired by the fairytale, "The Brother and Sister". Warning: violence, murder"
Has Elizabeth become a ghost? Is there any hope that she can return to the land of the living?

104. Never So Bewitched By Any Woman: A Pride and Prejudice Variation by Isabelle Mayfair ⭐️⭐️⭐️
A novella-length story. Elizabeth is in London, staying with the Gardiners. She meets Georgiana in a park, before she meets Darcy, and they develop a friendship. She also meets GW first. The story was OK but there were a few typos in my edition and too many contractions in the text and dialogue for my liking.

105. The Mist of Her Memory: A Pride & Prejudice Romantic Suspense Variation by Suzan Lauder ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This really belongs to last year, as that was when I was working on it with Suzan at the beta stage. Now it's finally out there in the world, I can add it to my list. Mystery and suspense are added to romance as Elizabeth struggles to remember the events surounding a violent attack she experienced in Lambton whilst travelling with the Gardiners. Who is responsible? Are the things she remembers real? How are Wickham and Lydia involved? Read it and find out!

message 123: by Anji (new)

Anji | 735 comments Here's my next batch from the Colonel's Library. Most of these are works that were mostly read in previous months but I just happened to finish them in the past few days.

Not sure how my reading progress will go from now on, as we had some bad news about our other dog Rodeo yesterday. He's the father of the one we lost seven months ago and is now terminally ill himself. The vet says he maybe has six months left. We're having a detailed ultrasound scan done next Wednesday which may tell us more. If you don't see me around as much, that's why. I've been hit and miss on social media and the blogs ever since Roddy died in October as I've found it difficult to get motivated about following and commenting on things for the most part. You folks here are the main exception along with some of the posts at Austen Variations. Jeanne, I will catch up with Nefarious eventually, though I'll probably have to start from the beginning again!

106. Darcy's Days by Fitzwilliam Darcy ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - DNF
I tried to like this more, especially as some of my friends here have rated it highly and a Darcy POV is a favourite sub-genre of mine. Although I liked the writing style of whoever wrote it and appreciated the inclusion of a lot of historical context, I just wasn't keen on this Darcy. I decided to DNF at about two thirds of the way through when I got to Darcy's second recreational use of laudanum. The latter is mentioned in some of the reviews so it's not really a spoiler.

107. Medieval Underpants and Other Blunders: A Writer's (and Editor's) Guide to Keeping Historical Fiction Free of Common Anachronisms, Errors, and Myths by Susanne Alleyn 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Not remotely Austenesque but as I discovered it quite by accident when I went down a research rabbit hole during a beta read last year, I'm including it here anyway! It's a fascinating read and quite amusing at times. The text ends at about 86%, if memory serves, and the remainder is an extremely comprehensive bibliography covering various topics and historical periods. I may look into some of the Georgian/Regency ones eventually.

108. Guarded Hearts by A Rose By Any Other ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11455230...
Author's note: "Elizabeth and the Gardiners journey to Derbyshire the previous summer, merely a week after the events at Ramsgate. When they call upon the great house of Pemberley, who should happen to return suddenly but the illustrious Mr. Darcy and his heart-broken sister.".
Would love to see where the story would have gone after the five chapters.

109. The Wicked Wit of Jane Austen compiled by Dominique Enright 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I've been dipping in and out of this little book (found in a secondhand bookshop last year) for several months and, though I usually prefer to read Jane's writings in their entirety, rather than extracts, it was fun to read compilations of comments (from her letters and her fiction) on the same subjects, such as; "Another Stupid Party: Balls, Gowns and Other Fashions", "A Truth Universally Acknowledged: The Marriage Market" and "I am a Very Good Housekeeper".

110. The Persuasion of Miss Jane Austen by Shannon Winslow audiobook performance by Elizabeth Klett. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
A take of what could have happened to Jane Austen and why she wrote Persuasion. The story is told in flashback and details her meeting and love for a dashing French emigré naval officer. My favourite Shannon Winslow book and I do love her work. Elizabeth Klett's performance is, as always, fantastic.

message 124: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (dmbrown) | 633 comments Interesting mixture of books, Anji. So sorry to hear the news about Rodeo. It's devastating when you have to say goodbye to a treasured pet, and I'm sure it's even worse since you haven't gotten past that initial grief stage after losing Roddy a few months back. Concentrating on reading is certainly not a priority under the circumstances. We'll shower you with love here whenever you pop in.

message 125: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Majczan (sheilalmajczan) | 769 comments Anji, so sorry to hear about your loss of one pet and now that another one is terminally ill. Pets are such dear parts of family, in my opinion.

115. [*Unpub] What comes next: surviving living: elliotbennet: 5-stars https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13068195...
Blurb: “Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy have been living happily ever after. Then the unthinkable happens and in the midst of illness, grief and death Elizabeth faces a threat from those who should be friends…” Rating clean: 17 chapters, OMG! Angst out the wazoo. LA! I had to open a new box of tissue as I cried my eyes out through three fourths of this story and it ended with a frustrating cliffhanger. Is it unfinished? I wanted to rail at the heavens or pull my hair out by the roots as an alternative to my frustration. OMG!

116. [*Unpub] Seeking Advice: leavesfallingup: 3.5 stars https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13183900...
Blurb: “Faced with the horrible prospect of an unwanted proposal from that toad, Mr. Collins, Lizzy Bennet decides that a little friendly advice and an offer of assistance is just what is needed to set matters straight.”
Cute, lean, one-shot: AU [Alternate Universe] where the author switches canon into a fun bit of fluff with a HEA for several characters and a not so happy HEA for others. LOL!! A bit modern in places but funny.

117. [*Unpub] Random Acts of Kindness: leavesfallingup: 4.5-stars https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12887306...
Blurb: “A moving sermon leads to a random act of kindness that impacts the lives of the Darcys and changes the course of their story. What will be the final result for Elizabeth and Darcy?”

127. [*Unpub] Poor decisions: maddyv: 3.4-stars
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12550795...
With the second Bennet daughter in possession of a nice tidy dowry… it is enough to temp a scoundrel. It is always tough to read when Elizabeth marries another. Unfortunately, he turns out to be the worst sort of man with the all the appearances of goodness. Elizabeth reflects on her poor decisions and learns, perhaps too late, who truly is the best of men. The reader will suffer right along with Elizabeth as reality sets in and she sees the true man that she has married. No worries, there is a HEA if you wait for it. Rating MA: spousal abuse and trigger warnings.

128. [Reread] [Unpub] A Successful Elopement: maddyv: 4-stars https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13009072...

129. [Reread] [*Unpub] Letters from the Heart: mrsdarcy2032: 4-stars http://meryton.com/aha/index.php?show...
“Blurb: What if Mr. Darcy returned to Hertfordshire only to discover it was too late and Elizabeth had been forced to marry a vicious Mr. Collins? With Elizabeth all but stranded in Kent and Darcy determined never to love another, how will they find their way to happiness and each other? Follow the journey from heartbreak to happily ever after in the personal correspondence of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy.”

130. [*Unpub] Smile, Mrs. Wickham: I found my Mr. Darcy: 4-stars https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11284858...
Blurb: “George Wickham has been missing for three days. Where is he? What is Lydia thinking? First person Lydia POV with a cameo appearance by Mrs. Darcy. Rated M for themes of domestic violence. Super short, one-shot.”
OMG! What a story. It is quick, it is poignant and it is totally Lydia. Wow! This was amazing. I must say… when you read this… wait for it. The final surprise/reveal is at the very end and it is amazing. I wanted to stand up and shout. Way to go!! Very creative!!

131. [*Unpub] Letters from Elizabeth: I found my Mr Darcy: 4-stars https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11332802...
This is a much shorter condensed version of the ‘Letters from the Heart’ post. It is enough to give a good picture of the life Elizabeth Collins, née Bennet lived when her mother forced her marriage with the heir to Longbourn.

132. [*Unpub] Letters from Mr Darcy: I found my Mr Darcy: 4-stars
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11444392...
Blurb: “Mr. Darcy returns to Hertfordshire and learns Elizabeth has married. Witness his journey from heartbreak to HEA as you read his private correspondence. Cameo appearances from all those we love. This is a companion piece to Letters From Elizabeth.”
In this version, we only hear from Darcy. It is the condensed shorter version of the complete story. It is still heartbreaking as our Darcy realizes the mistakes he made when he left Netherfield… and Elizabeth.

133. [Reread] [Unpub] Love Unsought: I found my Mr. Darcy: 5-stars
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12284051...

134. [Unpub] The Adventures of Olivia Wickham: I found my Mr. Darcy: 4-stars https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12416657...

135. [*Unpub] Recovered and Restored: I found my Mr. Darcy: 3-stars
https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12086434...
Blurb: “Lydia has eloped, the Bennets are in disgrace and now Mr. Darcy has spirited Elizabeth away under cover of night. What excuse can he possibly give for such behavior?”

136. [Reread] [*Unpub] What Might Have Been: mrsdarcy2032: 3-stars http://meryton.com/aha/index.php?show...
Blurb: “Darcy never learns of Lydia’s elopement. She is never recovered and the Bennets leave Hertfordshire under a cloud of scandal.” Rating: clean one-shot in two parts:

137. [Reread] [Unpub] Most Delightfully Situated Through Her Means: Ms Pimprenelle: 4-stars
