Thanks, Abigail. Those that are unfinished are frustrating... especially that last one. I've read it at least three times now and with 14 chapters... I decided to go ahead and count it. It was so good. Angst up the wazoo but such an amazing Elizabeth and the most obtuse/clueless Darcy I've ever read. Anji, it will be good to see you. I'm looking forward to exploring the library, discussing books. and sharing a cup of tea with you.

Longer than many other one-shots, modern, one-chapter story: “Lizzy getst drunk and doesn’t remember the night before. Nothing, not one thing except she wakes up in the arms of none other than Mr. Darcy and she’s wearing a rock of a ring on her left hand. How did she allow herself to get engaged to a man she hates and thought hated her?”
137. The Rescue (615 pages), unpublished. The four Bennet sisters (no Lydia) are rescued by a peer from an abusive mother and indolent father. Both parents are also alcoholics. Tale goes on and on over the many years about social climbers and various connections, wealth gained, marriages, etc. So boring. Finally after about 500 pages we get back to whether or not Mrs. Bennet can claim her daughters again after she views them in London as beautiful and rich young ladies and tries to prove they are hers. The prologue tells about Mrs. Bennet seeing them in London but then the story goes back to when the girls were sold by their mother. Cannot recommend this story.
That last book had me captured for a week, at least, as I struggled to finish it.

I was dipping in and out of it for over a month as I simply couldn't face reading it in one go and had to refresh my palate with other, better things, so to speak. Great progress, Sheila. Yeah, that last one [#137] nearly killed my poor brain cells. If someone decides to read it, they really need to have the determination to finish it. There are nuggets of goodness within the LONG chronicle story. The villains are horrid, their comeuppance is sad, exciting, hilarious and downright devious. The goodness of a few characters leans toward the saccharine side of the sweet scale. There were still parts that I enjoyed. You have to pick up a lot of rocks before you find the golden nuggets.
Thank you both. I would tell others not to read it. Just not worth the time. The romance was NOT there. It was more a history of the Duke's family, friends and enemies. Sir Lewis might have been one of the best parts.
I did just now post a longer review and hopefully warned others. Hate to do this to an author but she really needs to pare her story down.
